“Lovely stay!”

I was unsure what to expect after some of the bad reviews. I stayed for 4 nights in July and I had a great time. My check in experience was fantastic, really friendly and funny man on the desk was an instant warm welcome. I upgraded to a superior room when I booked it as I read another review recommending to do so. My room was lovely! So clean and modern, nice balcony overlooking the pool. Maid service was great they came every day to do the bed, fresh towels and always had at least 3 toilet rolls. There are 3 maybe 4 pools, the resort was medium large. I opted for the pool opposite my room. Each one was clean and well looked after and lots of sun beds. You may struggle for a bed after 1130ish depending on hotel capacity. Each pool had a bar, this one had snacks and a pizza oven. Was a real mix of families, couples, friends etc. Predominantly German guests but also English Spanish French everything. No issues with speaking English from the staff they were incredibly fluent and also in other languages which is amazing! There’s a shop in the resort that sells soft drinks snacks beers spirits wines cocktail cans clothes shoes bag’s souvenirs etc normal prices similar to UK. I was all inclusive and the 3 drink rule was no issue for me, it was so hot I didn’t even have 3 drinks at every lunch/dinner. Wine was nice as well. They do check off your drinks as you go but it’s a rule for a reason. Oh I was extremely disappointed that bottled water is NOT included you have to pay £1.50 for a tiny bottle at the bar or you can have a tiny cups worth for free. I wasn’t going to keep going up every two minutes to be able to simply hydrate myself in the blistering heat so I kept buying big bottles from the shop for £1.50 instead. Never been to an all inclusive where you have to pay for bottles of water. Only the middle pool is the activities one so if that’s what you want head there, early as it does get busy quick. No evening entertainment which I was extremely disappointed about. Food was no problem for me for 4 nights but any longer I would have eaten out. Yes it would have been nicer to have more variety as every day for both lunch and dinner there were chips, plain spaghetti, cheese pasta, some vegetable dishes, veg paella, a noodle thing, the salad bar and then 2-3 different things such as fish stew beef stew tomato pasty etc and something different on the fresh station which was some kind of fish or chicken or pork steak. I won’t be able to eat chips or pasta for a while! The queue system for the restaurant isn’t well thought through. The queue starts from the fresh station where obviously there isn’t always food ready as it’s still cooking so the queue should start the other end so people aren’t waiting 30 mins to get food. Desserts are disappointing. Rice pudding ice cream pots 1 cake and fruit every lunch and dinner. Didn’t have any struggles with noise or anything from other guests maybe I was lucky but the welcome letter clearly states silence is required from midnight-8 and that loud speakers will be removed. Overall a lovely place was visually pleasing nice staff and amenities, I personally didn’t like el Arenal itself. Was a short 2 min walk down to the bars restaurants shops and beach but it was extremely rowdy and busy and it is the German capital for partying so I was informed by a few German guests. Oh and looky looky men are out in HUGE numbers and all sorts on the beach selling drinks massage hair braiding tickets etc. If you’re hungover and want to relax in peace don’t go to the beach. Also the beach beds have lockers on them so you can pop your phone and small bag inside to go dip in the sea. I would love to stay at this hotel again if it was in a different area.
