Our pit stop for 4 nights R&R up on the RHS of Mallorca. It overlooks the most sensational views of the coast in a little protected very picturesque cove in a quiet area of Canyamel. An hour's drive from Palma the hotel is very obliging in providing transport but it is a costly 100 euros for a taxi to and from the airport. Perhaps a hired car would be a good idea? A very warm welcome, the reception area is lovely with gorgeous modern artworks and lovely views of the sea. Your cases are taken and a welcome drink is offered. I will add that there is a smell in reception that is quite off putting. There is definitely a plumbing issue as the scent of sewage can be smelt most of the time. Highly scented diffusers are located to try and mask the scent but it's not very pleasant. The rooms are really well appointed, beautiful spacious bathrooms and most rooms have lovely views. The air-conditioning is efficient and facilities in the rooms are adequate. The beds aren't the most comfortable I have experienced, could perhaps do with mattress upgrades. It's always a priority of mine when I go on holiday, obviously not for everyone. There aren't too many English people that visit this Adults Only hotel. Mostly German clientele who were all very friendly. The staff don't speak too much English either so we had some difficulties with our orders in the restaurant. The breakfast is lovely,a great choice of continental and cooked and the most wonderful location overlooking the sea dining al fresco depending when you visit. The Food is the Crowning Glory in this hotel, 'The Melassa' offer a delicious Al la Carte Menu in the evenings. The half board options weren't as good so make sure you get sight of the menu before you commit. We also found the service to be amazingly efficient during our starter and first course then we kind of got forgotten for the rest of the meal. It was incredibly busy and it seemed a little understaffed in our opinion. Top Tips - There are small shops nearby, walking distance 5 minutes. The second beach bar along the beach is the best. During busy periods I would advise reserving your sunbed, there aren't a huge amount to choose from. Be sure to make a visit to Arta on market day, only 10 mins taxi, it's wonderful with some gorgeous places to eat & shop.

Exceptional location, beautiful views, but most importantly exceptional service. From the welcome and information on checking in from Javi through to Leonie who works here on the bar, who deserves a big up - always very attentive and friendly, and nothing is to much of a problem. Would 100% recommend this place! Did I say breakfast is first class? No? It is, and the 5 course evening meal was also very good. Not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for.

“Good, but better customer service needed to be ‘great’!”

For context, we stayed here for 6 nights on honeymoon straight after our wedding, paying approx £300/ night. Overall hotel was ‘good’, but we were slightly disappointed with a few elements (mainly customer service related) which could be improved to be ‘great’. Pros: - Placed right on the sea front at the end of the beach - the area is well kept and there are enough dedicated sun loungers for hotel guests (note - this section of the beach stays relatively quiet compared to the main beach which gets rammed) - Breakfast was great, good choice on menu to order, continental breakfast, cereal and pastries etc. - The majority of waitering were friendly, but the male manager should consider how he can come across in a more friendly manner. Improvements: - Our honeymoon was completely ignored (sorry if this sounds bratty / spoilt). I informed the hotel in advance and when we arrived that it was our honeymoon, thinking they may do something a little extra special, or even just congratulate us when we arrived. However, it was just completely ignored on check-in. - I requested a special table at the hotel restaurant when booking and reminded the staff during the day (ie one of the tables which is closest to the sea front for dinner for our first night - reiterating it was our honeymoon), but the request was completely ignored and all the ‘prime location’ tables were taken when we arrived for dinner at 19.15. The waitering staff completely ignored the fact this was the first meal or our honeymoon / didn’t congratulate etc. (by contrast, we visited ‘Sa Pleta by Marc Fosh’ restaurant up the road and told the staff it was our honeymoon when we were speaking with them, and they immediately insisted we have a complimentary glass of champagne - now that’s service!!!!) - The male toilet cubicle door (the only male toilet) for the bathroom closest to reception was broken and had a sign saying out of order on for the entire duration of our stay - would expect this to be fixed much more promptly - The first few nights we had issues with the room above us - they were making considerable noise between midnight and 1am (moving furniture and arguing loudly) which woke us up each night, so we asked reception if we could move rooms. Reception offered us ‘the only alternative room at the same rate’ (which was much smaller and the air conditioning was very poor). Reception could tell we weren’t particularly happy, so suggested we paid extra for a room upgrade for our last 2 nights… again don’t want to sound bratty / spoilt, but in other hotels (of similar standard / price) they would have offered a complimentary upgrade for the last 2 nights given the issues experienced. - Reception should ask ‘how was your stay’ or ask for feedback when we checked out… they didn’t ask. - Upon check-in, reception didn’t offer to help take bags to rooms. - Bottle of water in the room was replenished at all for the duration of our stay (would have expected this). Other notes: - Reception didn’t seem equipped to provide list of recommendations of nearby recommended places to eat or things to do (I would generally expect this from a hotel like this) - Cocktails were 14-16 euros each, which thought was little expensive for the area - would be good to see some improved pricing or happy hour type deals when ordering these in the afternoon to the sun loungers. - The spa treatments were pretty much fully booked for the next 3 days, so was difficult to get a slot. Would have. Been helpful if reception told us this in advance / when we checked in so we could have managed to book in early, so we didn’t manage to get any spa treatments at the hotel in the end.
