“Perfect hotel for vacay with the kids”

Everything was great. The best buffet food that we ever had in any hotel. Big variety from fresh food. Staff is very friendly and speaks Spanish, English and German at least!

Incredible 5-star hotel, chosen as a great place to base ourselves for cycling on the island - Sa Calobra and Cap de Formentor are on the doorstep, and many more climbs besides within easy reach. We rode with Ciclos Major, an English-run bike guiding company based in the hotel, and Liz and Darryl were wonderfully knowledgable and easy-going guides. As cyclists, the most important thing is food, and the Zafiro's half-board breakfast and dinner (buffet plus four a la carte restaurants to choose from, included) was superb - loads of choice. Also pretty much goes without saying but the rooms and facilities are excellent - lots of pools (some rooms have private pools too), spa including sauna, and some delightfully Euro live evening entertainment. Get ready for hula hoops, sword displays and Motown tribute bands. Loved our stay, can't recommend the Zafiro or Ciclos Major enough!

“Amazing Hotel - Beware of unheated pools”

This hotel was amazing. Friendly check- in and straight to our swim up room. Large garden space and access to pool with artificial grass and outdoor bed. Our room had 1 bedroom and 2 sofa beds in the lounge area, mini kitchen and bathroom with separate shower and bath. All nicely clean when we arrived. I found the beds and pillows super comfy immediately which is rare. Food: Breakfast buffet with a lot of different choices, many fresh fruits, smoothies, salads, breads, cooked, omelettes, cheese ham toasties, pastries and so much more! Long wait for coffee/hot drinks in the morning at the coffee machines though, you need to add a few more machines. Lunch was a-la-carte in the cafe by the pool, food was really nice there. Staff come to you immediately and get your orders and the food is hot and quick. Dinner buffet was good too, large variety of foods, mostly freshly cooked, usual kids food and pizzas were nice. We were impressed with the relaxed feel of the place - nobody reserving sun loungers with towels (pet hate of mine) - so many sun loungers! The only thing that let this holiday down (apart from the mosquito bites) was the unheated pool. They were absolutely freezing. We were told there was no facility at all to heat them unfortunately. Great for a cold dip but couldn't stay in it for long. We did go slightly out of season (October) though.

I don’t know how this hotel has such a high rating on trip advisor. We were a family of six four adults two kids staying all inclusive It is very tired, the rooms need updating. Here is list that I think need looking at. A basic in the room should be tea, coffee and milk No we went to the supermarket to buy our own The main pool is freezing There are no little tables around the pool therefore drinks, books, suntan lotion etc go on the floor, The umbrellas are fixed in the floor so can’t used them to shade yourself from the sun. The pool towel service is hit and miss. There is no service on certain days, if you require a dry towel after 15.00 tough Wouldn’t take wet towels from you told to leave them in the room. I got the impression they made the rules up as they went along. If it rains they shut the pool bar but don’t open it again if the sun comes out. Therefore, drinks have to fetched from the one other bar which is quite a way away. We were given drinks in glass despite saying we were at the pool. There is only one bar open at any one time. As we were all inclusive we would have lunch at the pool bar ( twice it was closed because of the rain ) we would be totally ignored. We would sit for 20 minutes waiting for someone to come. We would be trying to get their attention but would look through you. Would carry on wrapping knives and forks in napkins The buffet breakfast, lunch ( this was in the main restaurant if raining) and dinner were all lukewarm or cold. This would never be allowed in the UK. The buffet was poor quality too. The bacon for instance was cut up in 3cm squares !!!! The fried eggs were always hard and luke warm. One day they served a large paella which wasn’t being kept warm at all you could touch the cold pan. Another day there was a moth flying round it and actually landed on it. One of our party had diarrhoea for two days Salad salad salad there everything meal. There is only butter in the morning sometimes there was none just margarine yuk We were a family of 6 and at every meal we had to pull two tables together there was no one helping There was only 4 coffee machines for the whole restaurant The queues at breakfast were always 8 people at each one ( this would impede people using the buffet) No alternative It would take 15 minutes just to get a coffee. Plus the machine was painfully slow to get one cup. So if someone was getting coffee for 4 of their family you can imagine. If you wanted hot water for tea you had to join the queue too. Just provide more machines and get a hot water dispenser away from the buffet area or as a proper 4 star hotel ask when you sit down tea or coffee madam and serve you ! Around the resort there should be somewhere where you can make yourself a cup of coffee or tea but you have to go the the one Bar that would be open and be served It seemed you only get one drink with your dinner in the evening no one ever asked if we would like another drink. There is no plastic bottles of water available either If you ask for water at the pool bar you’re given a glass out of a dispenser or a small glass bottle with your meal. Again we had to buy water from the supermarket Be careful too there are mosquitoes and they bite. I could go on but I don’t want to bore you. We shan’t be going again I must say the staff are lovely and work very hard.
