“A week in can picafort....”

Lovely little hotel. Food not so good. Staff very friendly and obliging. Good entertainment in the hotel San baulo opposite. Plus we had good weather for late October... Probably would visit again maybe a bit earlier.Would maybe suit an older person because it's very peaceful....

The Stil Bonsai is a lovely small and calm hotel that suited us just fine. We liked the fact that we were at the quiet end of C'an Picafort even though it was the very end of the season and places were closing down around us. The rooms are perfectly clean and serviceable and the staff obliging throughout. However, the thing that lets it down is the food quality and variety. The dining room was extremely civilised with no queuing and nice cloth tablecloths and napkins making for a pleasant and comfortable environment. We were perfectly happy to accept that the choice would be limited in a small hotel (and I actually advocate this rather than having a lot of wastage) but we were both disappointed with what was on offer. When there is only two meat, one fish and one pasta dish to choose from every night I wouldn’t have expected to have seen beef stew on the menu 6 or 7 times in the fortnight. The salad bar and desserts were very basic too. No nice fresh pastries at breakfast either, just packet wrapped muffins or biscuits. We are usually the type of people to scoff (no pun intended) at others when they say a hotel buffet is repetitive but I have to admit it was very 'samey' and unadventurous, and, although we didn’t go hungry, we were never really looking forward to our meals - which is a shame as it is a major part of most peoples holidays. On a more positive note the weather was lovely for the end of October and we sunbathed on the nice peaceful roof terrace, had the indoor pool to myself a couple of times, did some lovely walks all round the pleasant town and scenic coastline - even spotting wild tortoises and different wildlife on the trails in the pine woods. We had a little bus ride to charming Santa Margalida nearby and also met some really nice fellow guests and couples at the very cheap bar downstairs. Although I may sound like I’m being rather negative (especially regarding the food) overall the positives far outweighed the negatives for us and, for the price we paid, we really enjoyed our stay. I may have been disappointed if I’d paid high season prices though. Would we stay again?… definitely, if the price was right.

The hotel is clean and close to the beach. Staff so friendly and great at their jobs. Great air-con but that is it. Beds hard and just couldn't get a decent nights sleep, waking up aching all over. The hotel is clean and close to the beach. Staff so friendly and great at their jobs. Great air-con but that is it. Beds hard and just couldn't get a decent nights sleep, waking up aching all over. As for the reviewer saying about the food being hot, well, that was a joke. Breakfast, scrambled eggs were excellent but fried potatoes, beans, were not hot just slightly warm, and as for the mushrooms, always cold. Dinner, not much better. For the seven nights we were there, only two nights we had a decent meal. Food was generally bland and more of the 'cheap' cuts of pork. Again, some of the veg was not that hot. This is the first hotel we have been in where after dinner, you can't get a coffee or tea unless you go into the bar and pay for it. On the plus side, there was a mini market (Spar type shop, see photo) directly opposite the main entrance where you could get water, 7 up etc, crisps/snacks and a reasonable selection of wine and the manager made us feel like locals, so friendly and helpful. The hotel bar was OK with a pint of lager at 2.5 Euros and the baguettes were lovely, so were the cocktails.
