We’ve stayed at Protur Bonaire twice over the last two years—once before the refurbishment in June 2023 and again in June 2024 after the updates. Check-In and First Impressions Check-in was quick and efficient both times. The staff recognized we were returning guests and welcomed us back, which was a nice touch, although no special treatment came with it. 😊 Room Experience During our first stay, we had a top-floor room overlooking the splash pool, and in the second year, we stayed on the ground floor with a view of some grass and bushes. I highly recommend requesting a higher-floor room with a pool view for a sunnier and more pleasant experience. The rooms are adequate for a family stay, equipped with everything you need. The refurbishment was much needed, and the modernized decor was a lovely upgrade. My 6- and 2-year-olds slept comfortably on the sofa beds, but families with more than two children might find the sleeping arrangements a bit tight. Pools and Splash Park The pools were the highlight of our stay, with the kids spending nearly all day enjoying them. The splash park, while fun for toddlers, is slightly tired. The water pressure on the slides is weak, causing you to get stuck going down. However, it’s still a safe and enjoyable space for little ones, which adds a positive element to the hotel. Drinks and Bars Our biggest gripe was with the drinks at the bars during the day. Drinks were served in paper cups, which became soggy quickly in the sun. To avoid this, we brought our own reusable plastic cups (beer and wine styles) that we kept under our stroller. The bartenders didn’t mind pouring drinks into these instead, which improved the experience. Self-service water was also available. In the evening and entertainment the glasses come out and you have table service, a little tip goes along way and your glass will never be empty by being polite! Food Options The main pool offered buffet-style food, including fresh grilled meat, kebabs, burgers, and salads, while the splash pool had a made-to-order menu. My son has a dairy allergy, and while the splash pool could accommodate a cheese-free pizza for him, the main pool couldn’t. The hotel provided dairy-alternative milks but, unfortunately, no dairy-free ice cream—a common feature at other places we’ve visited. For this, we visited an ice cream shop in town that had good alternatives. Breakfast and dinner were all-inclusive buffets with a variety of tasty options and themed nights to keep things interesting. There was always something enjoyable to eat. Location and Surroundings A pleasant 20–30-minute walk takes you to the beach, with numerous restaurants, bars, and a Spar supermarket just 5–10 minutes away. The walk was a lovely way to explore the area and stretch our legs. Hire a stroller from reception for a few euros if you need to. Entertainment and Kids’ Clubs The entertainment was great, with a standout moment out on stage when my son sang "Happy Birthday" to his mum for the second year in a row! Everyone joined in which was nice! The kids’ club was a huge hit—our 6-year-old attended daily and thoroughly enjoyed it. The Baby club was a favourite for our younger child during the first year, though they didn’t want to go in the second year as at the clingy stage. We couldn’t fault the staff, though—they were fantastic. One memorable moment was picking up our 6-year-old from the kids’ club to find them in the middle of an epic water fight—a highlight of the trip for him! Our second year see a visit from Ant and Dec who were filming in the hotel, I was lucky enough to be chosen with a few others to get some film time with them in partnership with TUI. I was driven around the resort by them having to guess answers my partner would choose to various questions. That was also a great bit of fun and they are great blokes even recording a message for my wife. Their team said they would not do requests as they are so busy and get asked all day long but I asked anyway after having a bit of banter and they had no hesitations. Final Thoughts Protur Bonaire continues to deliver a great family holiday experience, especially with the improved rooms and excellent kids’ facilities. Despite minor frustrations like the paper cups and limited dairy-free options, the friendly atmosphere and fun amenities make it a place we’d return to without hesitation. We are unlikely to go back to the same place for a third time but if the price was right, why not!

Lovely hotel with very friendly staff. I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat as for the entertainment though: the human entertainment wasn't that great but there was a wild duck. Lol. Rooms were well made and friendly neighbours; a kind gentleman lended us a 2L bottle of water. The pool was cold; It was in October though... The indoor pool is said to be kept at 28°c or higher. I do recommend you go in the summer as the pool froze me. Many shops to explore in the nearby bay, entertainment was on pretty much all day. There were quizes, rewards can be won. Fun tip for the kids ages 7-12 Bring a rubber ring, stand in it in the outdoor hot tub (that wasn't hot, maybe call it a cold tub?) And jump up and down... Tsunami. I've been here twice with my family and enjoyed both times. On our second arival, after the cleaner had cleaned our room, we were left a nottle of sparkling wine.

Beautiful hotel, clean and well maintained, friendly staff, excellent facilities including pools for the kids! As a family we travel with a disabled child who has significant impairment in safety awareness and is unable to communicate. Thank you for giving us a wonderful holiday full of memories, we only had one minor issue which was we weren't given enough towels on replenishment and had to chase this up but had towels within 30 mins! (so really not a major issue) We had a poor experience elsewhere with another Tour Operator (dont book Radisson Blu resort and spa 5*- Peurto Mogan - Gran Canaria). We found the TUI rep was at this hotel a lot but never once did we need them for anything negative. The lifeguards here do their jobs and are on watch towers which is fantastic as a concerned parent of a disabled child this is something that we consider when holidaying abroad. Not once did I feel like I couldn't trust them to do their jobs (not our experience with our earlier holiday to a 5* hotel this year) The Kids pool areas are great and the blow up dome is fantastic. This hotel is absolutely beautiful and clean, some minor decorating improvements if I were to be really fussy, but it's nothing that impacted the holiday experience. Love the water fountain areas and the Koi Carp pools with the Terrapins. A resident cricket in the building which would possibly keep you up if your a light sleeper or don't have earplugs or the bedroom door shut (unless your sleeping in the living area- my dad put ear plugs in). The kitchenette, could be a bit bigger, however it sufficed for 10 nights, enough to make omelette or English breakfast on but is in close location to restaurants, we went self catering and couldn't fault any aspect, we didn't eat at the hotel other than we did however order some drinks and fries from the pool bar and we had no issues. We were initially concerned about a 'bug' going around however we didn't catch anything. We found the hotel were on top of keeping areas clean and tidy and can't fault it at all. We would undoubtedly return, absolutely fantastic hotel, facilities and staff. The kids club was fantastic, its the first time my son who is 10 showed some interest in the bear at the kids club due to his disabilities so this was the highlight of our holiday!.

Stayed for a week self catering during October half term, family of 2 adults and 5-year old. Brilliant week away. Room: A great self catering room that was clean, spacious & well equipped. UK channels and Netflix on both TVs (open plan area & bedroom). Nice touch having separate bedroom. Impressed with their recent refurbishment, light and modern decor. Our only negative was that every night, at around midnight, we’d hear the refuse lorry arrive to collect all the rubbish which was loud along with the restaurant extractor fan starting up at 5am. (Room 2211, facing the scenery) Pool: Fantastic kids pool, the main pool was also good to sit around with music, although both cold (probably expected for Oct). Plenty of sun beds & umbrellas. Kids club: Cannot talk more highly of all the staff that run kids club, they were absolutely brilliant! The staff have so much energy & such lovely people. Daughter was excited to go most days! Entertainment: Evening entertainment was geared for kids which was great, good timings for mini disco and bits between main act. We only watched one main act (Dynamix) who were fab. Nice touch for celebrating birthdays and winners for daytime activities with medals each evening. Cala Bona: 5 min walk to marina with plenty of restaurants and bars, all very good. Not your typical promenade resort so had a more quiet relaxed feel. Alma Mia, Rope & Anchor and Bar Jamaica to name a few! Went in Oct half term and most start closing or have closed on 31st Oct (1st Nov being public hol). Hired family fun bike a couple of times and rode to Cala Millor. Dinosaur Land and Caves of Hams is a short taxi ride (approx €20) and good family day out. Overall we had a fun week and will be looking to book again! Staff were all wonderful and work tirelessly for guests to enjoy their holiday!
