Great place to stay, central to all amenities, beach, restaurants, shops and walks. No fighting or queues for a sun lounger. Evening entertainment in the hotel if you didn’t have other arrangements. Would definitely stay here again

This review is based on a US couple in their early 30s visiting Mallorca for their honeymoon. We stayed for several nights and had rented a car and drove from Palma airport to this hotel (about an hr drive). Pros: Hotel: the hotel overall was a very good experience! Main areas were clean, room and bathroom was always kept clean, had a mini fridge (wasn't as cold as I'd liked it to be), the bed was comfortable (not firm), pillows were a bit flat but comfortable. Amenities: we had a balcony view of the ocean which was very nice. The beach is walking distance and water is so clear and blue and beautiful. The hotel has a pool which was super nice and you can rent towels. We didn't get a chance to use the gym or sauna. We were going to book a massage but ended up not doing that. The staff: they were very nice and willing to help. They kindly brought a fan to our room after we notified them that our room was so hot and we could not adjust the temperatures. Food: we had gone to the breakfast buffet every morning and it was a huge plus in our stay. It had various options and we were pleased. We also visited the hotel bar and had a pleasant experience. Getting around: you can walk to some places near Cala Millor. We rented a car so we used that daily and walked around. We noticed transportation so that is probably a good option if you learn the ways. Hotel vibe: this place is adults-only which is nice not having kids screaming and running around. We noticed there were a lot of older people (did not see any our age). I noticed more older people in their 50s+ Driving: we had a rental car and it was a csuv so it was a bit tricky to parallel park in spots. Having a smaller car would be convenient but we made it work. We were able to find a few spots but it was a gamble. The hotel does not have a parking lot and you just need to look for it and you could find some near Le Carac Cafe (there seemed to be a small parking lot that we ended up parking often without issues). Cons: -This was not a big deal but our TV did not work and we didn't feel like asking about it. We brought our laptop and got on the Wifi just fine and used it to watch a show or movie. -Hotel is near a few bars which could be loud at night sometimes but it did not bother us. -The walls are a bit thin. Maybe it's because we were on the first floor but we would hear the showers drip water even though they were off and can hear the toilets being flushed and the water passing from upper floors. -The hotel is smoke friendly so you will smell it in the lobby and other various spots of the area which kind of gave me a headache and made me a little nauseous if I stayed there too long but I have a sensitive nose. There was no smoking smell in the rooms though. -The hotel does NOT offer a water station so you will need to go out and buy water. The hotel does provide mini fridges in your room so you can keep your drinks cool (it takes a while to get cold though). In the USA, hotels typically have a fountain and ice machines for guests to easily get ice and water so this was just a cultural difference I was not aware of. Not a big deal however, one of the front desk workers joked and told us to drink water from the pool which I did not find funny at all. Different humor I guess? Other comments: Laundry: We ran into an issue where our luggage from the airport was soaked and all the contents in it were wet we arrived very late to the hotel and early the next morning we went to the lobby to ask about the laundry services. The hotel offers laundry services and has a 24-hour policy. They will give you a medium-sized bag and they will charge you about 18 euros (not worth it in my opinion) but for convenience you may want to consider. If you have a car and you want to save yourself some time/money, there are a few self-service laundromats nearby. Tip: bring cash and make sure you have coins because some machines will swallow your money and not give you coins and there is no one working there to help and the numbers don't work. If you run into an issue where you need coins and the supermarkets will not exchange them for you, try the gas stations - they are nicer and will be willing to accommodate. We had quite an interesting morning going to 2 laundromats, 2 supermarkets, and 1 gas station just to get the right amount of change to do laundry. It was super fun. For people in their early 30s and from the USA (specifically East Coast PA/NJ/NY), if you are planning to come to Cala Millor to party, be warned that the area will remind you of Wildwood, NJ. At least that was our experience and we had higher expectations. We were here on our honeymoon and when we went out to explore we weren't looking to party the whole time but noticed some of the shops and restaurants being typical tourist traps. Not a whole lot to do and more for a family-friendly vibe. You will see some bars around the 'boardwalk' and because this is Europe and a popular island, you will find many Germans and British folks here who are much more to themselves and seem like a fun time (many on holiday with family or friends). Come at your own discretion.

I’m here on my final night and I’m so disappointed to only be able to give 3 stars for this review. It really is a tale of two (or maybe three?) halves. The good .. : The location of this hotel is stunning. Right on the beach, the sound of the waves outside your door, the sun on your balcony during the morning. The pool area is clean and comfortable and as a solo traveler I felt good spending time there. Sometimes it can be tricky trying to keep hold of sun beds when you’re on your own while you get food or go to the loo etc but there was enough for everyone and it was completely relaxed. Before I arrived I booked two massages, one for my first day and one a few days later. The first massage was fantastic. The therapist was friendly and professional, and she even recommended me some specific treatments for when I was home to help with a joint issue I have. Her name was Catalina so if you go for a massage, ask for her - she is fab! The reception team were generally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful and though I didn’t take it every day, was good when I did. A couple of nights I had a drink in the bar when the entertainment was on, and the staff were efficient and friendly and the drinks were tasty. A short walk from the hotel you will find anything you might need from supermarkets to cafes, restaurants, gelato, amusements.. The bad.. : I had lunch twice at the pool cafe and the first time I had a green salad with tuna, which unfortunately came drowned in boiled egg. No massive deal, but really it should be on the menu. Especially as there were other salads which specified egg and this one didn’t. The second time, I ordered a burger with cheese and when it arrived the burger had no cheese but they brought me a block of Parmesan to grate on to it. The chips were cold and it had to be sent back. When the food was returned to me, the chips had been dunked back in the fryer and were hot but now solidified, and the burger was cold. I had to ask for sauces and salt, and ask twice for the bill. I didn’t eat there again. There is too much great choice around to bother with poor service like this. The second massage I had was poor. It cost €95 and was a huge disappointment. No care was taken, the girl didn’t seem bothered about what she was doing and was really unfriendly, as well as the massage itself being rubbish. I almost left after the first 5 minutes but didn’t want to cause a scene so I just carried on and put it down to experience. The shower in the room didn’t keep temperature. Not a massive issue because I don’t mind cold water, but it was annoying and for a longer stay, would have bothered me. The Ugly: I arrived at 1am in the morning and had a massage booked for 10am. The guy at check in explained everything to me, that I should get a ticket from reception for the spa and had to pay in cash etc. In the morning, I was just about to head out to breakfast at about 920, when the phone in the room rang. They were ringing to remind me about the massage at 10am. I don’t understand this. I’m an adult, I’ve made a booking, I’m not late, I’ve paid to come on holiday for a break from pinging emails and ringing phones. I don’t need you checking up on me. It was really annoying. However, the reception staff when I got down there were friendly and helpful enough that I soon forgot it .. and had a lovely massage But Fast forward to my last evening.. I’m asleep after a day of sunbathing. Suddenly I’m awoken to the phone ringing. It’s reception again. A man is asking me what time I am leaving the following day. I ask him why? He says if I am going early in the morning then they will make me an early breakfast. I say no, that won’t be necessary. He continues to ask what time I’m leaving. I’m annoyed by this point so I say I’ll speak to you when I come downstairs because I am resting. He ignores me and continues to ask me when I am leaving. I honestly felt like, even though I’m still on my holiday and paying to be there, they were more concerned with the incoming guests and I didn’t matter anymore. I had to be quite firm in saying I would talk to them when I got downstairs. Having been rudely awoken from my sleep, I got ready and went down to go out for the evening. I stopped at reception to be met by some sour faced man I had never seen before who tried arguing with me about why he needed to phone me. I just smiled and told him everything was fine and went out for the evening. I’m 45 years old and I’ve stayed in hotels all over the world. I have never, ever, ever, been disturbed in my hotel room by reception, let alone to be asked what time I am leaving. I was shocked and appalled, and it left a very sour taste in my mouth after what was otherwise, generally, a good stay. What. A. Shame.
