“Nice hotel for the family with kids”

Hotel with quite a lot of activities for kids as well as adults. Walking distance to the great beach with white sand and crystal clear ocean. Well, not many choice of the food, but they change the menu every day for the main courses. All in all, a good hotel for the family with kid.

Very good food, nice and helpful personel absolutely nothing to complain about. The rooms were clean and well looked after. The entertainment were entertaining specially for the kids. Much energy from the entertainment team Great beach and a nice bicycle rout along the old railway to Manicor.

We were a group of 17 people in a family (2-70yrs) traveling together and celebrating a 70th birthday. The Tropicana hotel offers several advantages that made the stay enjoyable, though there are also some areas for improvement. The hotel is well located within short walking distance to the beach and close by shopping street, pharmacies and Aldi. It's organized into different blocks (buildings), providing variety in room locations and access to amenities. The apartments are generally comfortable, with Block 1 having good balconies overlooking the pool area, bar and entertainment area. Free parking is available, making it easy to park close by. The apartments are equipped with refrigerators, which is a great convenience for storing drinks or snacks. The food at Tropicana is generally good, with some dishes we particularly liked such as the veal stew and chili con carne (Taco Night). We could always find something we liked, even the kids (from 2yrs), teenagers and adults. The staff is generally friendly and ready to assist - we particularly appreciated the late arrival meal they provided at about 10PM. Pepe at the bar is also worth mentioning as a particularly friendly bartender. There are two pool (billiards) tables, one for table-tennis (ping pong) and a dartboard installed - all of which our teenagers enjoyed and used daily. Table tennis equipment requires a €2 deposit and each game of billiards runs the same (non-refundable). Despite these advantages, there are a few downsides worth noting. The daytime food selection outside meal hours (lunch 12:30 and dinner at 19:00) is very limited, with only grilled sandwiches and some pastries. No potato chips, peanuts or anything made by order is available. In hindsight the beer seemed to be very watery, probably doesn't exceed 3% alcohol. The included local wines are of medium quality and when ordering all-inclusive cocktails at the bar, staff will disappear behind a wall to produce them - probably pouring them from a ready-made mix. Some premium cocktails are available to purchase an additional charge (such as a mojito with fresh lime and crushed ice) but I was disappointed by the quality of the mix and presentation of these. For example I purchased a premium Aperol Spritz served in a tall, narrow glass - the same kind they would serve the all-inclusive G&T and is already half-full as soon as you put in two cubes of ice and a straw. I gave up purchasing the premium drinks. The air conditioning in the rooms is also very weak, providing only a soft breeze of cool (not cold) air, which can be an issue for some. I personally was a little annoyed by the early-morning cleaning of nearby apartments that got vacated, beginning as early as 9:00 in the morning with moving furniture and loud cleaning. For us, a drawback was the music by the pool in Block 1 which we felt was too loud and plays continuously from 10AM to 10PM, which can be disturbing for those looking to relax. We sometimes had to raise our voices when playing cards or talking to each other when seated in the shaded bar-area. For a quieter experience, you'd need to spend your day by the pool in the park by another block and fetch all drinks to the bar in Block 1 which includes crossing a small street. They have a busy children's programme but we felt there was a lack of activities for adults, compared to other hotels we've spent our vacations at (such as pairing adults with kids to compete in water polo, billiards, darts, petanque). There is a dartboard installed on a wall in the park by Block 1, but it's in very poor condition and should be replaced. After our kids spent an hour or two a day for 3 days in a row playing darts, they (and nobody else in our group) consistenly got bit by mosquitos so we had them abandon the darts. My advice: replace and relocate the dartboard. Finally, I'm not sure why guests aged 14 and over are required to pay the full adult rate at the hotel. Obviously they're not served alcohol, but I'm confused why the price was the same for myself and our 14-year old: shouldn't the adult rate start at 18 years old, when they're allowed to be served alcohol? To me, that seems to be the only difference between the two rates. Overall, the Tropicana hotel is a good option for those seeking a comfortable stay with certain benefits, but there are a few areas that could be improved to enhance the overall experience.

We had a great holiday, our room was really big, very clean and quiet, the staff is more than friendly and courteous (honestly the nicest and best staff I've ever experienced), the cleaning ladies are fast and conscientious, the beach is close by and the pools are great, cocktails within AI are goo… more
