We booked this hotel for a group, family holiday and in total we had 10 adults and 4 children. I'd been looking at this hotel for a while and seen a lot of negative reviews but they were mainly complaining about other guests and not the hotel itself. We only did a 4 night trip and I believe this was the perfect stay. The rooms are a little on the small side but we don't go on holiday to spend all our time inside so that didn't bother us. It was my birthday halfway through the stay and the hotel surprised me with a bottle of bubbly which was lovely. The pools at this hotel are great, something for everyone and always something going on somewhere. We had the premium package which was brilliant and the entertainment was really good too. You really can't go hungry in this place, between the restaurants, lakeside takeaway and the food in the lobby in-between mealtimes there is always something to eat. Make sure you have money for the bingo and stalls around the lake in the evenings, the kids stung me most nights 🤣 my only issue was in fact other guests and neighbours of our hotel room. I'm normally not too bothered about people making noise, they're on holiday after all but the people letting children run around the hotel corridors after midnight and our neighbours screaming at their kids after 11pm was just a little disrespectful. Overall though we enjoyed this hotel and will return. Also the water park was a massive hit 💕

After reading the reviews and seeing posts in the Facebook group I was starting to worry that we had made a mistake booking this hotel. I could not have been more wrong and we ended up having a great time!!! The complex is huge, there's definitely plenty to do although I did also find the size to be a downside as the play park is at the opposite end so the children weren't able to go off on their own like they have done in the past at other smaller hotels. Having said that it was only a minor issue for us the children were more keen to stay by the pools anyway. We had a premium room, which was quite small and we didn't have enough storage but again wasn't a major issue. As a vegetarian I was dreading the food but was actually pleasantly surprised with the different choices, the rest of my family eat meat and they really enjoyed the food and the different themes. The staff in the dining halls all work so hard and are quick to clear away dirty plates. During our whole stay we only encountered one lady on the door of Jupiter who could be a bit grumpy and didn't like seating big groups but other than that everyone else was fine. My children loved the kids bars and I think it's a really good idea to keep them separate from the queues of people ordering alcohol. The one thing I was dreading the most about this holiday was the mosquitos, I usually get eaten alive at home and my bites quite often swell. I bought everything under the sun to protect myself and went to the pharmacy on the first day to buy their extra strong spray and I didn't notice get bitten once. A few members of my family did get bitten a few times but nothing major like I was expecting. Maybe we got lucky and arrived after the area was fumigated, the mosquitos are a problem not just at club mac but the whole area and in one of the daily newsletters it stated that the area is fumigated regularly. Another worry I had was the reviews I read about rowdy guests, I think unfortunately you get these people everywhere and other than one family that caused scenes and shouted at the lifeguards for telling their children to stop squirting water guns off of the bridge everyone was fine and kept to themselves. The waterpark was great we went a couple of times and loved it. Only downside is having to pay for sunbeds or a fortune for lockers so we just left out valuables at the hotel and walked over in towels which we left at the side. The onsite hairdressers is very popular especially for hair braiding, I would say if you are planning to go to the beach then hold out and get the ladies that wander up and down to do it as they are half the price. I made the mistake of paying 37 euros for my daughter to have coloured Dutch braids onsite when the lady on the beach braided mine minus the colour for 10 euros. This hotel definitely surpassed my expectations and if you have booked and are worried about the reviews please don't let them put you off!

“Not for a quiet adult trip”

Have just spent a week here with my sister and her family. I normally travel alone and avoid hotels popular with British tourists, so I know this has definitely skewed my opinion of some of the elements of this hotel so have rated it average. PROS - Easy to navigate for such a large hotel complex - Lovely lake area, nice for a late afternoon or early evening stroll - Free access to water park just across the road (the kids loved this) - Very friendly and helpful staff - Large variety of food which changed on a daily basis. - Very nice breakfast - Inclusive WiFi - Good location to walk into Old Town or to the harbour and also to catch the bus into other areas of the island. - Had a lovely mountain view towards old town. CONS - Far too many Brits. I didn't feel like I was overseas until I travelled away from the area. - Very little choice with drinks for alcohol free adults (other all inclusive resorts I've stayed in have provided mocktails). - Food was often quite bland - Have to keep a cup for all inclusive drinks - a real pain in the neck, never had this anywhere before and really didn't like this. - Walls of hotel rooms like paper, can hear everything from either side and even above. Noise from children running up and down corridors and screaming and shouting all night also didn't help. - Constant smell of cannabis wafting into room. - Air con did not work - Room cleaning wasn't great. - I've never seen such a small balcony at any hotel before. I did have a lovely holiday as I was able to explore the island, but this is not a hotel that I would revisit. It was my sister and her family's second time here and I know they love all the facilities for families at the hotel including the entertainment.
