“amazing”

everything was more than fine for a 3 stars hotel: food, room, pool, animation. an extra plus for the food :) tasty and different from day to day. we reccommend for sure the hotel for families. Also visiting around Alcudia old town, Polenca old city, Dollar street

Just back from a 10 night stay at Alcudia Garden with our one year old. We had a ground floor, self-catering apartment & had a fantastic stay. The apartments are quite spacious & have good WiFi coverage throughout. I would have expected a kettle & toaster to be available in a self-catering apartment but if I am being honest we didn't go looking for one & I have no doubt we would have been assisted if we had requested them. We found everyone we dealt with in the hotel to be fantastic from front of house staff to cleaners, entertainment, lifeguards & the bar staff around the pool. The location & proximity to the beach / port is second to none with plenty of bars, restaurants, shops nearby. Our only complaint about the hotel relates to the sunbeds. Despite numerous signs around the place stating that reserving sunbeds is not allowed & towels would be confiscated, we saw hoarding of beds across our stay. It wasn't an issue for us as we had a one year old & up early but saw it happen time and time again that families coming down to the pool at 10am only to be disappointed find no beds available. Secondly, the proximity of beds to the kids pool is an issue in my opinion. You have row of beds around the entrance into the kids pool where you have to walk through people to get in / out. Not ideal and no real need for these beds to be so close to the pool. Overall, fantastic stay & would have no issue recommending or coming back for another stay.

Hotel is superb. Food fantastic, so much selection of it. Pools outstanding. Cleaners do an amazing job, so hard working. We had a sandstorm while we were there, the cleaners were unbelievable trying to clean it all up. 10 out of 10 for them. Entretainers: highlight for us was Eric, a real gentleman, very funny guy, we fell in love with him. Alicia always greeted us with a smile, lovly girl. The shows they put on were fantastic. The entretainment for kids and adults outstanding. We will be back next year. 10 days for us in this hotel was too short for us . !!! Last but not least, bar men were lovly , gentlemen.

“Not suitable for Coeliacs”

After a lot of research, we went to Alcúdia Gardens Hotel, Mallorca, in May, because the hotel said that it is recognised by the Spanish Coeliac Society and can cater for Coeliacs. I advised the hotel before and on arrival that I have Coeliac and used a Spanish Coeliac card to avoid any confusion. However, I would definitely not recommend this hotel for Coeliacs. I found the following problems; a lot of the food in the buffet was not marked at all with an allergen list, some of the food was wrongly marked (e.g pasta marked as GF, but staff confirming it was “normal” pasta and not GF), there was no specific GF section (apart from one small basket with a few buns), there was no GF menu, staff were not aware of cross contamination and the only food that was safe to eat were the boiled eggs and fresh uncut fruit. After having my first meal at the hotel I was ill (glutened) and pointed out some of the problems with GF options to the staff. Nobody seemed interested so I spoke to the complaints manager. She asked me to give them another chance with the food, but the next meal was just as bad with the staff not acknowledging cross contamination issues. After two nights of being up with stomach problems, I stopped eating at the hotel and found alternative places to eat. I wrote to the Garden Hotel Chain saying that their statement stating that they cater for Coeliacs did not equate with my experience, but I never received a reply. This experience has put me off staying at a hotel and I will only be going self catering in the future as I was unable to leave the hotel for a few days due to being glutened. For the rest of the holiday, we were lucky that we had the resources to eat elsewhere, or things could have been a lot worse.
