Buffet breakfast had a good choice for everyone. You will have a walk though inc inclines & that is the only "negative" we did not mind as we like to get our steps in! Old Town Harbour has lovely restaurants & the walk to Puerto Calero was so scenic! Taxi to main strip if you need it or shortcut takes you 15 mins approx to walk to Fariones end.

We have visited the Gloria Izaro now at least once a year for the past seven years after initially stumbling across it by accident. The hotel is on the top edge of Tias, it is well kept and keeps being upgraded year by year, the staff are very welcoming and friendly, food is really good (especially when staying half board) with plenty of choices. What we do like is if whether you want to be by the pool or if you want to be in the quieter areas on the double sun beds then the choice is yours ! If you are looking for nightlife and bars then this isn't the hotel for you as its off the main seafront area with quite a hill to walk up to get to it.

My husband, I and our 2 children (12 & 14) had an absolutely lovely week here for October half term. My first time in the Canary Islands and my husband’s first time to Lanzarote. We booked Gloria Izaro at relatively short notice and hoped the many great reviews would be a good indication of what to expect. We were delighted with the hotel, staff and our stay here. Very comfortable room, excellent food in the restaurant and we loved the efforts made for Halloween. Our children were so happy and excited to see the decorations, restaurant team wearing some fancy dress and so many excellent themed sweet treats! Thank you for this, it made our stay even more special. The surrounding area is beautiful. We love walking so the hill was no bother and made the most of exploring, in between relaxing on the very comfortable day beds at the hotel and enjoying the pool. We rarely re-visit the same hotel/area, however found this to be such a brilliant holiday that I have re-booked for April 2025 as a belated celebration for my husband’s 50th Birthday. Can’t wait return!

On arrival we were a little underwhelmed and confused as we wouldn't really class this as a hotel as such - its a complex of apartment blocks with reception being in it's own little cabin. The reception staff were very nice but the welcome was again underwhelming for 4* and we got lost trying to get our heavy cases to our apartment. We had to go back to ask for help and the staff were friendly and helpful when asked however. The pool and sun lounge area serve also as 'corridors' between apartments and we wouldn't have wanted to be in one of the apartments adjacent due to the number of people coming and going wheeling suitcases noisily etc, this also made these areas a little different to being in a hotel to be honest and the pool was underwhelming. In the photos it looks a lot bigger and as if there is a waterfall but this is a small limited feature that turns on when you press a button. there is a continual loud gurgling sound from the overflows/drains as well which isn't very relaxing. The pool bar was also underwhelming with no drinks menu and pretty dismissive staff who frequently left the bar unattended leading to long waits. We had an apartment upstairs and cant fault it at all, it was very clean and spacious; very quiet and had 2 balconies. We enjoyed seeing the wild parrots flying around and had a nice view out over the pool from above. The housekeeping staff who came to service the apartment were fantastic and very friendly. The food in the restaurant was ok, we were half board. Again, we expected a bit more from a 4 star 'hotel' than lasagne, chips, pizza, rice dishes etc under heat lamps and we turned down the ice cream option for desert due to the unhygienic looking scoop and dirty water it was sat in. The last night we were there , I had the fish, freshly cooked for me and I would recommend this option; it was the highlight of the week food wise and very tasty. The whole place was very quiet indeed and even though we enjoy somewhere peaceful, we literally were the only ones in the bar every night after dinner and we left before the entertainment even started. The location was good, very steep hills to walk up and down but the resort itself is really pretty and it wasn't far to get to the beach. It's definitely not for anyone with mobility issues however, everywhere is steep and there are many outside steps/ramps at the hotel itself which get wet and slippy when it rains. All in all we had a lovely time here once we adjusted our expectations and wouldn't rule out coming again, it wasn't a bad price... it just doesn't seem much like a 'hotel' and description seems a little misleading.

This hotel is mainly catered at vacationers who stay and enjoy its facilities. Nevertheless, the hotel is a great base for travelers as well. It's close to the airport, and can be used as a hub for hiking, traveling around the island and visiting the beach. It is close to the old town, which is less touristic and more charming. The breakfast is amazing with all one would need to get a good start for the day, and you can put together a lunch picnic to take with you. The rooms are huge, clean and equipt with a small kitchenette so you can prepare some meals. The only issue i had was with the heat, and the hotel stuff dropped off a portable heater to cover that. Oh, and don't worry about the hill everyone is mentioning- it's not a big deal if you do not have mobility isuues.
