Our first stay at La Penita, we chose the accommodation based on reviews and must say we were pleasantly pleased with our choice. We were checked in by pleasant reception staff and shown to our Sea View apartment on the top floor. The apartment was adequately furnished and equipped with all the basics. We had a lovely view over the pool and a beautiful panoramic sea view. Apartment 134, was very quiet apart from some traffic noise from the street it backed on to but nothing to upset us. The management seems to have sorted the sun bed wars out, there was a comprehensive notice in the apartment and in reception detailing the pool and sun bed rules. There were always beds, umbrellas and table available at all times of day. Lastly a big shout out to the ladies in the Pool bar, excellent friendly service and great value. We would definitely return based on our first visit.

“Fantastic value and under rated”

Booked this last minute and was a wee bit sceptical with it only having 2 stars but the reviews convinced me it was worth a try . Well not disappointed in the least . Booked this last minute and was a wee bit sceptical with it only having 2 stars but the reviews convinced me it was worth a try . Well not disappointed in the least . Reception staff very polite and pleasant and made a point of saying not to reserve sunbeds . Sea view room 221 which basically gets the sun in it all day and yep gets hot but the ceiling fan and portable fan soon got it cool ..Lounge/kitchen area a cracking size with television , hotplate fridge micro wave kettle etc . Couch etc were very clean and comfy . As was the room very well cleaned . Bathroom bit on the small size but perfectly adequate . Bedroom good size with plenty of storage and hangers with a safe in wardrobe that is 15 euro for the week to hire . 3 Different notices in room telling you not to reserve sunbeds .. So first morning looks out at 7.15 and there is already at least half a dozen reserved . Looked out again at 7.45 and the towels had been removed by staff and placed on a table close by ....Same as the day went on towels removed from un attended beds . So looks like sunbed issue has been addressed . But there was always plenty of free beds during the day never had any trouble getting two . Pool like most is initially quite chilly when getting in but within minutes it is very refreshing and pleasant and a good size saw them cleaning it most mornings . Position is absolutely ideal just 30 seconds from strip but with no noise whatsoever to disturb you if your early to bed . Never used the snack bar but the prices looked very reasonable same as drink prices. Would i stay here again without a doubt excellent position and a really good room and facilities dont let the 2 stars fool you

“Good visit again”

Have stayed here for many years now…always very good. Pool bar with food and drinks is top class, staff are excellent. On this occasion, the cleaning department was less good than our other visits. All other staff we had interaction with were very helpful and hospitable. Location is just brilliant … more

Have stayed here for many years now…always very good. Pool bar with food and drinks is top class, staff are excellent. On this occasion, the cleaning department was less good than our other visits. All other staff we had interaction with were very helpful and hospitable. Location is just brilliant and so many entry and exit points makes it even better. It is December so the pool is not warm but it is refreshing and clean.

We are on our final day here, and we fly home later. Before I start my review, I want to say that it's still a great place to stay, the staff are friendly, and a great location. We have stayed here a number of times now and have never had cause to complain. But I feel letdown by the cleanliness of the apartment we had this time round. We were situated in an apartment on the road up to reception, on the outside of the complex. Previously, we stayed inside around the pool area. Being on the road, I would expect some level of surface dust around the apartment. But what I found had been there for a number of weeks/months. I don't expect the place to be spotless, as the turnaround time between guests isn't that long, but I expect some level of cleanliness. I only realised how dusty it was when I closed the wardrobe door a little too hard and dust feel from the track and trim on the door. And when I run my hand along it, there was weeks/months' worth of dust. Then I found everything above head height was the same. That says to me that it hasn't been maintained during each clean. Now, if it had just been me here, I wouldn't have worried, but my wife has dust allergies. So I went and spoke to reception, told them the issue, and asked to see the manager of the head of cleaning. Apparently, the manager wasn't available, as he works from home most of the time, but told that if I emailed reception, they would forward the email on. They sent a cleaner a little later, but she seemed disinterested, and all she did was wipe down the wardrobe and one door frame. Not even bothering with the rest of the top of the door frames, mirrors, pictures, and wall lights. I would hope this is a one-off with one cleaner, and if it is, then they should do something about it before the neglect carries on. because it would spoil such a nice place. I would like to say I got a reply from the manager, but day seven and I have had no reply to my email. Either he didn't bother to reply, or reception didn't forward it on. Perhaps they don't tell him much, and keep complaints from him. Perhaps he should be at the place a little more and not work from home so much. I've written this review in hope he sees it. I didn't want to put a review like this, which I wouldn't have done, had I got a reply, or a better service from reception.
