My daughter and i stayed for 3 nights, 29th December, 2024, to 1st January 2025 to celebrate Newyears Eve. We spent most of our days at the adult only pool, which is lovely and has a pool bar. There were plenty of sun loungers and this area was nice and chilled. The lady behind the bar was very friendly and made excellent cocktails. As we were paying for drinks ( self-catering package only), the cocktails are made in front of you and presented in cocktails glasses. All inclusive cocktails were pre-made from a machine and presented in a plastic cup. Good prices for cocktails. And well made.We had a pool facing room near reception but didn't use that pool. This hotel is very clean and smells of lemons , the staff are very friendly and helpful. We only used this hotel as a base and stayed self-catering and spent our evenings in Playa Blanca, so we can't comment on the food or entertainment at the hotel. The onsite supermarket had essentials we needed. We also hired pool towels at 10 euros deposit each, cash only. The weather was perfect, lovely, and sunny. Use back gate to go out, 10 minutes stroll to beach and nearest bars, restaurants, and about 20min stroll to harbour, or just get a taxi from hotel. Playa Blanca on New Years Eve was amazing, fireworks at the harbour,but be warned if going newyear eve, alot of places are tickets only, even our favourite bar. We managed to get a walk-in table at an indian restaurant by harbour, which was lucky, and we enjoyed our evening. Overall, we had a great stay, and the hotel was just what we were after.

The main idea is that the hotel is good. It used to be worth 4 stars, now it's worth 3, compared to the more expensive ones. Pros: Price. The hotel grounds are wonderful, beautiful, spacious. Nice friendly staff. Spacious rooms, with their own bathroom and mini terrace. There is a microwave and stove. There are dishes and a refrigerator, pots and pans. A variety of food. Daily cleaning and towel change. Good mattresses for sleeping. There is a really working mini-club for ages 4-12. My children especially love coach Juan. Few staff members are as involved in playing games with the children and inventing activities as Juan, the animator. There is an evening program and a mini-disco. And what is indescribable is that he works on vacation on holidays. There are good beaches, supermarkets, and car rentals nearby. Cons: The rooms need updating. Everything is very old and shabby. The windows don't open well. The bathroom is slippery, on the first day they gave her a towel so she wouldn't slip, but they took it away during the first cleaning. Which is not very safe, especially with children. The quality of cleaning depends on the staff. The floor cleaning is not always of high quality. The sofa is foldable, but it creaks and wobbles a lot. The bar of hand soap was never replaced in 15 nights. Las habitaciones se abren con una llave normal, que no es muy segura. Not all the mini club staff speak Spanish. It is strange. The materials in the mini-club have not been updated for a long time. Only the animator Juan saves the impression of the mini-club, because he really plays with children with intuition, has an individual approach to everyone, children of different languages, ages and nationalities are interested and have fun with him. There is no welcome set: water, tea, coffee on the day of arrival. And there is a terrible problem with the dishes in the restaurant-dining room. A lot of broken dishes. And dirty ones. To get a clean plate, you have to try to pick it up. But despite the minuses, our family liked it. Beautiful territory and friendly staff do their job.

Had a great family holiday at THB Tropical Island. We spent 10 days here over new year’s celebrations. The small pools are heated and a reasonable temperature. The main pool with the slides is a little cold. We went self catered but paid for breakfast most mornings. The food and drink on-site is well-priced and reasonable quality, eg live omelette station at breakfast, fresh cocktails at 5.50 in the evenings and at the adults pool. The spa was also well priced and decent facilities with sauna steam and jacuzzi for just 5 euros, we went often! The shop has cheap beers and the snack bar was a bargain, overall very impressed with the affordable add-ons in resort. Evening entertainments were good, mini disco was popular with my youngest and the magic and singing shows were fun for all. Good location meant we could walk to the seafront (or 5 euros taxi) with many restaurants available. All staff were friendly and helpful, daily maid service was good in the rooms. Everywhere was clean and well maintained, even if some of the decor was slightly dated, it didn’t matter to us. Juan ran the mini-club under difficult circumstances and he was a super star! Very engaging and popular with our 6 year old. It’s disappointing that the hotel doesn’t seem to prioritise the kids club, the other assistants (eg covering Juan’s day off) seem to be inexperienced and out of their depth. Having one mini club rep vs around 5 general ents staff makes no sense to us / the mini club was one of our main reasons for choosing this resort. Other ents for the kids were good including a splash park and a variety of cool pool toys like a run-out matt and a giant ball you can roll about in. Overall a good holiday. I’d recommend you bring approx 60-70 euros for refundable deposits on everything from spare keys, back gate keys and each beach towel!

Very pleasant resort complex with (mostly) friendly staff. Rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean. Rooms are cleaned and beds made daily (except Sundays). Plenty of hot water for showering and washing up. Gardens are very well maintained with an abundance of palms, cacti, and flowers. An excellent large adults-only pool, a large pool for families and several smaller pools for kids. Would rate it a 5 but there are a few things that let it down: The cooking facilities for self catering are limited (2 ring temperamental hob and a microwave). The fridge has no freezer section so no ice cube storage (even though the shop sells bags of ice). The furniture in the room was uncomfortable though the beds were very good. The shower has no handrails making access difficult for older visitors (walk-in showers would be better and safer). The on-site shop has very limited stock and the woman who works there clearly needs to go on a customer service course. She barely acknowledges customers and spends most of her time on her phone! All the above could be resolved, the one thing they can't do much about is the distance from the resort to the beach (a long walk in hot weather) though taxis (if you can find one) only cost about €5 with a tip each way. There is a twice per day bus from the hotel but it could do with a more frequent shuttle service. If you're self catering do your shopping at Lidl or Spar, most of the Dino supermarkets are poorly stocked and overpriced (as is the on site shop).
