First of all, the hotel position which is nigh on perfect. Your are on the seafront, separated from the rocky foreshore by a traffic free promenade which is immaculately maintained and well lit in the night. It means you have the best of both worlds - staying in a hotel in a very peaceful, very relaxing part of Playa Blanca but at the same time the hotel is just a gentle stroll along the promenade to the bustling marina and then onto the town centre - and the famously impressive Papagayo beaches are just a relatively short walk away. The size of the complex is extensive with plenty of spacious areas to choose from for either sunbathing on loungers or sitting on table and chairs, admiring the views of the seashore and promenade. There are four outside pools and there are plenty of loungers so you would think there would be no need for the 'towel brigade' to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve them - but surprise, surprise, they did so as to get the prime spots. More annoyingly, some of them would disappear for as many as two hours at a time before using them. Thankfully there were many free loungers throughout the day. The Snack Bar, which adjoins the Pool Bar, has a fantastic choice of food - by far and away the best selection of snack bar food my wife and I have come across in very many years of package holidays. We'd upgraded to the Royal Elite package when we booked the holiday and we found it well worth the extra cost. Our top floor room was well furnished with magnificent sea views and views of the island of Fuerteventura. The balcony was big enough to take a table, two chairs and two sun loungers. There are two lounges and a dining room and the drinks at the self-serve bars in both lounges are all top quality brand-name spirits - the choice of whiskies, gin, brandy and vodka was particularly impressive. You have breakfast and evening meal in the Elite dining room and lunch in the hotel's main restaurant and the food was excellent, with plenty of choice, in both restaurants. All parts of the hotel have great facilities and my wife and I enjoyed the hotel's main dining room and bars and entertainment areas as much as the Elite facilities. And a bonus for us was that you could get your upgraded drinks in all the hotel's restaurants and bars. This was our second stay at the Sandos Papagayo and we will certainly be staying there again. Quick tip; If you can walk along the cliff-top path overlooking all three famous Papagayo Beaches do so. The views are special and if you carry on walking you will come across secluded beaches with impressive rugged shorelines.

Just back from a week in the Sandos Papagayo with friends. Our rooms were very spacious with comfortable beds and lovely sea view. Spacious terrace with chairs and a table. Plenty of room for sun loungers, which would have made a nice addition. The bathroom was spacious with a walk-in shower and 2 sinks. Nice, big towels which were changed nearly every day. Small fridge in the room, tea and coffee, a powerful hairdryer in the bathroom, and large mirrors in bedroom and bathroom. Handy storage drawer under the sinks in the bathroom. Pool areas are spacious and plenty of sun loungers. No rush to reserve in the morning. Pool bar and snack bar were great for during the day. Self serve soft drinks, wine, beer, tea and coffee. Water is available throughout the hotel to top up your water bottle. Enjoyed the saxophonist on the sun terrace twice a week with Cava. The main restaurant can be busy at times but we didn't encounter queuing for food. Lots of choice for all meals. No complaints from us. Food in the snack bar was good. We ate there at lunchtime on a couple of days. Pizza, burgers, chips sandwiches and fresh salad. Eat in or take away. Veggie burgers were very tasty. Canary bar and terrace was comfortable with a good choice of drinks. Some have an additional charge of around 2 Euros. Lovely view from the terrace out to Fuerteventura. Weren't too keen on the Green Bar. A bit dull with little atmosphere. We enjoyed the Plaza entertainment area and bar. Varied entertainment throughout the day and evening. The animation team was great. Rami, Sofi, Zac, and Raoul were all friendly and great fun. The hotel is kept clean throughout. A few encounters with taps /hand driers not working in communal toilets. Any maintenance issues in the room were swiftly rectified. Our safe blocked, and it was sorted straight away. There are a few shops, bars and restaurants a few hundred metres outside the hotel. There is a small beach just outside. The hotel is situated at the end of a wide coastal path. The Marina is about a 20 minute walk with a twice weekly market and lots of shops, cafes and restaurants. Very picturesque. Definitely worth a visit. Taxi rank with €4 for a taxi back to the hotel. Playa Blanca is a further 20 minute walk from the Marina. We would definitely recommend this hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly. Overall a great week and we would consider returning.

“friendly, spacious rooms, great food, just close enough to walk to the marina area. I really enjoyed the premium bars”
Great for children but seperate spaces for adults. Good choice of freshly cooked meals we were premium plus so a couple of nice comfortable lounge areas. Rooms were clean but a bit dated. Whirlpool bath a nice touch after a good long walk, 3 pools but all a bit chilly

We've just returned from our 6th stay at this hotel. For a week we just wanted to be somewhere familiar and relax straight into the holiday. I had emailed the hotel in advance to request a quiet room (as I don't sleep very well) and explained that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary during our stay. Upon arrival (approx 4pm), we were informed that our room was ready and as we knew our way around we found it quite easily. We were thrilled to find that we had been allocated room 1173 in E block - this has a huge wrap around balcony with a gorgeous view overlooking the sea and across to the nearest beach. We had been provided with a complimentary mini bar (water, soft drinks and beer), I think this was a loyalty arrangement for being repeat customers. On our wedding anniversary, the hotel again kindly left a bottle of cava in our room. At Sandos Papagayo the rooms are always generous in size, with twin beds, a sofa bed, table, dressing table, wardrobes etc. There is a TV which I understand has English channels (another guest told us this). The bathroom had two basins, toilet, bidet and shower, so plenty of room all around. The balcony had a table, chairs and sun loungers and although it was very windy during our stay, we did retire to the balcony on two afternoons as it was a real sun-trap and it was lovely to have a glass of wine looking out to sea towards early afternoon. The food was good, although we did notice this time that there was no 'show cooking' taking place. Previously in the Italian section of the restaurant, the chef would cook individual dishes as you waited but this doesn't seem to happen any more. I must say, that I'm not a huge meat-eater at all, but the chefs cook all meats amazingly well. Also the table cloths have been replaced by placements (which I can understand may be nod towards reducing laundry and being more sustainable). As usual I slept amazingly well in a really comfortable bed, with a choice of pillows (and duvets if required in the cooler evenings at this time of year). The weather was really mixed this time but that didn't spoil the holiday too much (and I still swam in the VERY cold pools on most days). We noticed that there had been quite a change in the staffing since we were last there, although the restaurant manager and Therese in the bar were still working as hard as we remembered. The one thing that this hotel has that beats many others we have stayed at is the entertainment. The animation team work tirelessly throughout the day to keep guests entertained with an assortment of activities such as archery, darts, rifle shooting, shulen, yoga, pilates, aqua aerobics etc. In the evening there is the kids' club followed by various artistes such as acrobats, singers, musicians etc and sometimes karaoke evenings. When everyone is on their feet dancing, you can't beat the atmosphere and it is always the highlight of my holiday whenever we stay there.
