Stayed for 12 nights from the 16th 28th December and on the whole we enjoyed our stay & would book again however have noted a few points which may be of interest for anyone considering booking The hotel was stunning with very tasteful Christmas decorations and a beautiful nativity in the church - felt very festive Fabulous location close to the marina where we ate out at every night Service at breakfast buffet first class BEDROOM We had a sea view room - very spacious with ample cupboard & storage space, incredible views over the marina The bed was huge and so comfy it was hard to get out of! The air con ran quietly which is a big thing for me There is a fridge in the room but it was also silent - I’m a light sleeper so these are big deals for me. As a result this hotel is a firm 10/10 for sleep quality IMO Free daily spa access was a bonus - used the plunge and hydro pool and sauna and found all to be decent We didn’t go to the entertainment however returned to the hotel halfway through the candlelit pianist session which was held in the church and it sounded incredible - would like to return to hear it in full. I thought the hotel bar beside the reception was just lovely - decorated really tastefully. It closed at 8pm most nights which is a shame but I understand that this helps minimise noise. Decent prices too with a glass of wine starting at 5 euro. Margaritas were good too! Room 605 - incredible view over Marina - enjoyed the sunsets CONS unlike other 5 stars there was no one to greet us off the bus and help with luggage - we got lost trying to find the reception! Check in wasn’t the 5 star experience we are used to as stood waiting for some time to be acknowledged while someone shocked paperwork in front of us without an acknowledgement that we were waiting. Felt a bit invisible. we were eventually offered a cava but it felt it was done so reluctantly. Empty glasses were left around the pool and outside rooms, some lay for a few days which you don’t expect from a 5 star POOL AREA Pool beds were worst I’ve experienced- not what is expected from a 5 star - I did notice club Volcan loungers came with padding - if you are going to advertise yourself as a 5 star then the 5 star treatment must apply everywhere Snack bar was disappointing - not very inviting GYM & SPA Gym was poor - only one exercise mat there for the duration of our stay which looked manky Ran out of water in gym frequently - again not what you’d expect from 5 star hotel Trying to get a towel at times was painful BREAKFAST Patchy capsule coffee machines at breakfast often didn’t work Long queues for coffee machines Food not amazing - breakfast was just fruit and yoghurt for me. The cooked/fried food looked unappealing - the one morning I did try it, it was cold Given the quality of food at breakfast we opted not to visit for dinner Overall we enjoyed our stay and will be back but I think this was more to do with the luck we had in having such a wonderful room. I should also say that I do not agree with the hotel advertising itself as a 5 star. While Club Volcan may offer what you’d expect from a 5 star the main hotel does not - compared to what is on offer at the Princesa Yaiza for all guests - with no segregation. All the cons can however be easily remedied with improvements made to the Florida Restaurant, Pool area, Spa & Gym with tweaks made to improve service.

We stayed at for 3 weeks in November and had a great time. Our room didn’t have much of a view but the suite was really nice and comfortable with a good balcony to relax on. The situation of the hotel is amazing, right on the Rubicon Port which we loved. It took about 20 minutes to walk into Playa Blanca an easy walk along a flat beach promenade. It’s a bit of a hike to the bus stop but we did it a few times. Taxi back from playa was 4 euros. Our only gripe was the restaurant, we booked half board which was a mistake. The dinner time food was never hot, really disappointing. Why they can’t buy decent heaters I can’t imagine. We are not the only people to have mentioned it. Next time we will book B&B. Breakfast was great. Don’t miss Wednesday evening entertainment in the Church, absolutely beautiful. The hotel could be even better if it was an adult only hotel. Nice to have some English TV channels for the odd bit of relaxation when the weathers a bit off. We definitely look forward to coming back.

“Good four star hotel but don't expect the Four Seasons (and bring ear plugs!)”

I stayed for one week with my partner over New Year 2025 at the LIVVO Volcan hotel in Lanzarote. There are many great things about the hotel. The church nave-like entrance and tropical waterfall area in the reception are impressive on arrival, and the general site is nice, very clean and well located for the nearby marina with a wide range of restaurants and touristy shops. We found the staff friendly and helpful. There was a good offer for breakfast. We didn't sample the buffet dinner offer during our stay. We did an excursion, helpfully recommended and arranged by the reception staff, which was a highlight of our time on the island and we were blessed by good weather (20-22 degrees) in early January. However, if you are expecting a five star hotel, then LIVVO Volcan is definitely not the Four Seasons. It's more four star +. We had a double sea view room, which was a good size with a decent sized double bed and small sitting area and a terrace looking onto the marina. We were on the ground floor level which meant that, when we used the terrace, we looked out onto other guests walking around the site, and they at us, so privacy felt an issue. Not the end of the world. The decor was quite tired and the general quality of the room was four star: for example, there was a shower over the bath which was impossible to use without flooding the floor, creaky doors, yellowing (aged white) socket points and telephone in the loo), and no ventilation in the room so it fills with steam whenever the sinks or shower were in use. The base of the bed was not attached to the bed head so we kept being woken in the night by pillows falling down the gap that opened up as the base moved away as we moved in our sleep. But the biggest issue, and this really was an issue that marred our stay, was the very poor sound insulation between the rooms and from the corridors outside. The hotel was full of families with young children when we stayed and the noise from the accompanying rooms was as if they were in our actual room! This was in NO way due to them being particularly noisy in any way, just that the sound carried between the rooms from all sides, and above. I am as sure that they heard us in our rooms, making for a self-conscious stay. We could hear other guests using the toilet in the rooms next door, showering, snoring etc. The corridors are long, tiled with walls and ceilings made of hard surfaces so any noise in the corridor at any time of day or night reverberated and frequently woke us up. Perhaps it was just our room, in which case, avoid 471 at all costs! I noticed other reviewers had complained about lukewarm food at breakfast, which we also experienced. We tended to go early (7.30am) as soon as the restaurant opened because it became very busy later and on the first two days we had to wait in a queue for tables to become available. (In fairness, it was peak season when we visited, but the issue seemed to be inadequate staffing to clear tables between guests as many appeared empty but were cluttered with dirty plates etc.) Perhaps the food had been sitting around under warm lamps for too long as part of the breakfast set-up, which is a shame because the general range of the offer was good. While we wouldn't return to the LIVVO Volcan for a variety of reasons, you will see that for many guests it has been an idyllic stay but it definitely is not the Four Seasons. Hope this is useful and is a honest and fair review of our stay.

If I could have selected 3.5 as a rating - that’s what we would have chosen After reading previous reviews where people were met with a glass of bubbly on arrival, we were disappointed that we weren’t offered that. But hey ho, they checked us in and took us to our room. The rooms are the biggest sized room we’ve ever stayed in in the canaries. Rooms had hairdryer, no USB sockets though and a huge TV. The tv connects to Netflix etc but ours didn’t work. Said it had a connection problem but we didn’t really need it anyway. We requested an ironing board but had to do this twice as they didn’t seem to have the first request. We ended up moving rooms on the last night due to some noise issues and this was handled well. The other room had an ironing board and the Netflix worked fine so must have just been that first room. The hotel feels a little disjointed walking around. We were there for 5 nights and I still got lost even on the last day. We went to the spa one day but the pool was too cold To sit in. Pool areas are quiet - perfect for what we wanted. The heated outdoor pool was comfortable to swim in. The poolside restaurant was great - and very well Priced we thought. The staff here work their socks off. Breakfast - I don’t really want to sound too negative here but if there had been somewhere else close by for breakfast we probably would have went there. Cannot comment on the evening meals. Access to the marina was great and so many amazing restaurants to eat at nearby.
