This was our fourth visit to the Timanfaya Palace, but the first time that we have visited over the summer months (last week of June and first week of July). Once again we had a wonderful holiday at this superb hotel. Every time we have been there have been improvements made from our last visit. The Timanfaya Palace offers relaxation from start to finish. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, the food is plentiful and of excellent quality, the staff are fantastic & friendly throughout the hotel and the pool areas are peaceful and immaculately kept. It doesn't matter what time of the day you go down to the pool area, there are always sun beds available. As ever we were brilliantly looked after by Pepe and all of the wonderful staff in the restaurant. My wife is gluten free with numerous food intolerances, but there was always something that she could eat and any extra requirements of gluten free bread, chips, yoghurt, etc. were provided immediately upon request. In fact the manager, Jose, who attends the welcome meetings, make a point of stating that if anyone has any special dietary requirements to make the hotel aware and they will cook something specifically for you. It has been a repeated aim for this hotel to be the best 4 star hotel in Lanzarote. Without any doubt, this is not only the best 4 star hotel that we have ever stayed in anywhere - it's the best hotel we have ever stayed in, full stop. We are planning our 5th holiday for 2025.

“Exceeded expectations”

Have just returned after 2 weeks at this fabulous hotel. We visited as two couples and from the moment we checked in with the complimentary glass of cava everything was fantastic. Opening the door to our room and seeing the sea just a few metres away was amazing and shortly after a bottle of cava was delivered to the room which was a lovely touch. I have never been to a hotel where all of the staff where so happy and went above and beyond to look after you, from the front desk team, all the bar and restaurant teams to the cleaners and the lovely lady who delivered our daily chocolates.. credit to you all it was a pleasure to meet you. The food was varied and good quality and the two visits to the Kasbah rounded off the whole experience. The evening entertainment was some of the best I’ve seen at a hotel and the girls heading the nights were amazing. The pool area is very large a spaced out so you are not on top of one another, the no towels before 9.30 is controlled by the hotel which was good to see, so many say it but never do it. Sadly didn’t meet the Manager but would we return… in a heartbeat, thank you Timanfaya Palace.

We have just returned from a week’s break at this lovely hotel. We had a standard sea view room on the second floor which had a little balcony overlooking the smaller pool, the sea was just beyond. Our room was very clean, spacious and looked like it had recently been refurbished, the finishing touches such as the lovely art work were very tasteful. We had huge bed that was so comfortable, lots of pillow choice. The bathroom had a walk in, 2 headed shower with a constant supply of hot water. Lots of nice extras such as toothbrush kits and toiletries which were of really good quality. Pools were lovely, a bit cold for some maybe. I don’t mind the cold too much if the weather is hot as it’s a great way to cool down, however, we had a few extremely windy, overcast days so found the pool temperature a bit of a challenge at times. We didn’t want to use the heated pool but it’s there if you need it. Never an issue finding a sun-bed which is a bonus! The food is really good, lots of choice and plentiful, breakfast, lunch, dinner is served in the restaurant and the pool bar is great during the day for pizzas, sandwiches, pasta etc. We ate at the Kasbah one night and it made a lovely change from the buffet restaurant, the food here was excellent. Drink choices were incredible, having branded options was fab, lovely cocktails and they even had Fever Tree tonic for my Gin! The staff worked so, so hard, serving, cleaning and making sure we had everything we needed, credit to them all. Some of the bar staff were such fun, cracking jokes and messing around. Entertainment was great, lots of choice for everyone, we really enjoyed the variety between the bars. Slight negatives: In the buffet restaurant, the veg was over cooked and often mushy. Much of the food was only just warm so that’s something that could be improved slightly. When we arrived, our check in wasn’t very ‘welcoming’. There was no welcome drink as others have mentioned, no ‘how was your journey’, it would have been nice to have been told that we could go to the restaurant for dinner and a bit about where everything was located. We got handed a map of the hotel and local area and a piece of paper reminding us that trousers must be worn in the dining room. We even had to ask where our room was located, we just got a hand gesture towards the lift. Not much personal service and this was our first impression of the hotel which was a little dispiriting. I’m sorry I didn’t get the name of the gentleman that checked us in, but he wasn’t very helpful at all. There were a few staff that perhaps didn’t have the same friendly ethos as the majority and appeared a little rude at times but they work long hours so I guess it’s understandable on occasion. Other than those few minor issues, we would definitely recommend this hotel to others as we had a wonderful week. Thank you to all at Timanfaya 🤗

We visited Timanfaya Palace from 4th - 11th July. We were really surprised on arrival as some of the H10 on the drop-off route looked quite shabby, so we were really happy that Timanfaya Palace looked great. Check-in was good. We were greeted with a glass of Cava which is a great touch. Our room wasn't ready but we were able to store our luggage and were able to use the AI straight away. When it came to getting our room, we were allocated 421 which I think is yet to be renovated. It was a little grubby in the bathroom and the drain cover for the shower kept coming off. The view from the balcony was a sea view but also the delivery yard which wasn't the best, especially in the mornings with loud delivery men and lots of banging. Luckily we are early risers so this didn't worry us too much. We unpacked straight away so didn't ask to be moved rooms. The renovations were happening on the floor above us but didn't affect our stay, the only noise was during the day when we were out. You get 2 medium bottles of water on your first day. After this, no water is provided in the room, which I find annoying. I understand that H10 are Green conscious but water isn't a privilege and should be provided. The hotel sells reusable water bottles for 4 euros but this seems to be a money-making scheme. A tip is to bring some water bottles from home and get them filled at the bar. The food was lovely, we were impressed with the variety. The buffet restaurant had plenty of choice and we enjoyed most of the food. I didn't enjoy the Oriental evening which is a shame as I was most looking forward to that evening. They also provide a matching shot to compliment the menu for the evening. The snack bar had a nice variety however I was annoyed to find that you had to pay for the Garlic Prawns and the Prawn salad. This didn't make sense to me as the buffet restaurant had so many different types of prawns daily so I cannot see why you would have to pay for them in the snack bar. The staff in ties (I assume managers) in the restaurants were quite hostile with us. They never greeted us warmly or even with a smile. (The exception to this was Pepe and Enrique who were just delightful). We were not sure if this was because we weren't a Privilege visitor or because we weren't over a certain age (we are 40). This hotel is popular with older people who regardless of the color of their band, were greeted with respect and a smile. It was an uncomfortable experience. The servers and table clearers were much nicer and more pleasant. There is a rule that I find archaic and odd. Men are asked to wear trousers to dinner. So smart or jeans. Even though women were arriving to dinner in tight hot pants which I find far more offensive than a man wearing chino/smart shorts. I do feel this rule needs to be changed. I love dressing for dinner but that needs to be inclusive and to me, this needs to include a dress code for women and do away with the trousers rule. The drinks selection is brilliant. Excellent cocktails, mocktails, and many many branded drinks. Guests are spoilt for choice. The AI wine isn't great but you can purchase better bottles. The sangria is lovely. You are provided with a nice pool towel, it's huge and soft. If you want to replace that towel, you need to pay 1 euro. Ours was fine for the week but if you are there 2 weeks then you'll need a fresh towel. The 2 outdoor pools are awfully cold and barely used. It was painful getting in, it was that cold. We enjoyed the 'indoor' pool. It isn't indoors, it is in a dome and the sides roll up. There are many sunbeds all around and there is a strict no reserving sunbeds before 9.30 am. It was a joy to watch the Poolman walking around with his trolly removing towels before 9.30 am, for the people who didn't listen to this rule. The hotel is in a beautiful location and we enjoyed our walks to the lighthouse and down to the Rubicon Marina. Both are about 50 minutes walk either way. Flamingo Beach is a 5-minute walk and is stunning. There are a few overpriced shops there also. A bit further down is a SPAR which is better priced. I know the manager Jose (who was away) seems to get offended by reviews with the negatives, and this isn't meant to upset, just improve. We didn't want to move hotel or anything like that, we just wanted a relaxing week in the sun. Overall, we had a lovely week relaxing. Would we return, probably not and this is solely down the the managers attitudes towards us.
