“Good Hotel and great Location but let down by the food options.”

A Great hotel with excellent staff, lovely Rooms and entertainment really good. The hotel is let down by the restaurants especially the Ala Carte Restaurants. Great Location and drinks were good quality. Nice areas in the hotel and plenty of sunbeds.

Just returned from the Dreams lanzarote. We had a great time and we would of definitely given a 5 however the preferred lounge was very poor in terms of the limited variety of food offered and the level of service as quite often there where empty trays of food and dirty plates left on tables for a period of time which resulted in us having to go out to purchase elsewhere. Having booked similar upgrades in the past this did not come close which was disappointing due to this being one of the main reasons we chose this hotel.

TL:DR It was sound! A stretch to say 5 star but in this day and age everyone is getting away with calling stuff 5 stars, or the 5 star meaning has changed. We’re talking 4 stars at best but by no means the shabby mess I’ve read from some other reviews. Welcoming reception with cold towels and a cava with a helpful baggage fella. We went preferred club but didn’t spot a separate concierge for that. Although there was an angry Spaniard kicking off at a few members of the reception team for a solid half hour so maybe they were just tied up with Juan! Hotel has a nice layout with the rooms split by an open air walkway. And it is huge! Pools are pretty standard. Main pools are shallow for kids. Adult only sugar reef was the pick of the bunch for me (although no one gets them out, not that kind of adults only). Quiet, good bar service, pool heated to low 20’s bit of a whiff of sewage from time to time but right on the promenade with a spacious pool and a cracking view. Sea legs was another nice pool area but I found it to be too busy with people reserving sunbeds (no where to be seen for hours, hotel claims to clamp down on this but they never did) crap music and kids playing about. Decent swim up bar in this one though. It does have 1 section of pool that’s properly heated! It’s like having a bath! Didn’t bother with the other 2 pools really so can’t comment. Sugar reef bar was by far the best. Great service and smack bang on the promenade for people watching with cushioned seats and a great view of the bay. As this hotel is between the 2 marinas it’s a great location about 5-10 mins walk in either direction to numerous bars and restaurants. Ideally located next to the #1 attraction in playa Blanca (find the spoon). We had an hour at the spa included which was decent. Good size pool, jacuzzi with steam room, sauna and some ice shower thing. Restaurant wise they show as 4 different ones but it’s 2 in reality plus the main buffet. TIP - I’d suggest getting the plan for food done early as some restaurants are only open a couple of days a week. Preferred club meant we had breakfast in portofino section. Decent enough selection and proper back bacon cooked fresh! Tea was shocking though. Bring some proper tea bags if you can! Barefoot restaurant was good for a cooked lunch and a drink if not feeling the buffet. This was open 12-5 I think so gives you some time if pressed for the buffet. Buffet pretty standard fare for lunch and open 1-3 which seems a bit tight! TIP - save the link to the hotel and have a read or get the app. Comes in very handy! There was a sports bar to watch prem games but for whatever reason we couldn’t get the darts on. Might have been a Spanish DAZN thing but no drama there’s a few bars down the road to watch sports. Harp, bikers and Wax and a peaky blinder themed bar to name a few! Sports bar on site has a pool table at €2 a pop and a broken cue. Mini bar topped up daily with 2 beers a bag of crisps and some coke/water/orange juice. Cleaners were at it all the time! Can’t fault the cleanliness of the place! Draught beer tastes watered down from most hotel bars probably to stop us Brit’s getting too sloshed. Ask for a bottle of Alhambra or corona where possible. Food was alright but nothing special throughout the buffet and barefoot bar. Good selection for fussy eaters and fresh fruit, bread etc available Better standard in Sabor/Portofino etc but it’s a far cry from fine dining. They made a real effort for NYE with a 6 course gala dinner. I didn’t make it to the entertainment so can’t comment. Overall a decent enough experience for what you pay. Mix of nationalities and some helpful staff.

Swimming pools not heated Air conditioning not working correctly in room Plenty of restaurants but not always available to get food. Certain ones you only have access to in a two hour window. Can be a little complicated at first. If you arrive at 5pm you can’t actually get anything to eat until 6.30 pm. An issue if you have children. Room service is included in the all inclusive ( they don’t tell you this ). You do have to pay €10 but worth it if you need to eat after a day’s travelling. Cannot get pool side snacks at any point of the day at any pool. Staff never got back in contact regarding any issues we had ( room drinks fridge wasn’t replenished for two days ). We told reception on three seperate occasions. Hotel was clean Good location for beach etc Food selection pretty good too be fair.
