Just returned from 10 nights SC in a one bed beach front. My expectations were blown out the water. Yes it’s basic and a bit dated. But location was unbelievable and the view second to none. The apartment was spacious, with a very well appointed kitchen, huge fridge/freezer and all your basics. A constant breeze through the whole apartment kept me the most comfortable I have ever been in a hot climate. Even with A/C. Waking up every morning and watching the sun rise over the beach, taking a dip in the man made lagoon. Heaven. The onsite shop was very well stocked but the hotel is just minutes away from everything anyway. I love the fact you are left a mop and brush to keep sand from taking over the room. The shower pressure was the best Iv ever experienced. I now hate my shower at home. Staff were so lovely and friendly, helping me to print off my flight tickets after I lost my phone on a bus. Overall if aesthetics are important to you, you might be disappointed. It’s a blast from the past. But if you want a great location, stunning views and everything you need for a great self catering holiday I can recommend this place completely. I read negative reviews before I went and would remind those people to dig deeper in their pockets if they expect thousands of ponds worth of furnishings in a room. It was a home from home and I enjoyed every second. (BTW I work in one of the worlds top 100 hotels so I have an eye for detail and understand expectations).

Had a lovely time at Sands Beach, sad to read so many negative reviews. Apartment’s were very clean and spacious and had everything you need for a self catering holiday. Furnishings a little outdated, but typical sturdy Spanish style, with lots of storage space. Found all staff friendly and helpful, Pools a little cool but refreshing, and lifeguards do a great job. Always plenty sun beds and lovely views of the waterfront. Enjoyed watching the Cruise Ships pass by from our apartment, a great holiday !

“Hotel fine but dated like the resort ”

Just returned from a week away at Sands Beach with my mum. This place was recommended by a family member so to a certain extent we went in eyes wide open but a bit worried given the negative reviews on here. I think the key to this place is managing your expectations, clearly it was a 5 star resort once but it's not anymore which is why you're not paying 5 star prices! We had a 2 bed beachfront apartment which was a lovely luxury for us. It was comfortable and clean. Absolutely tons of storage and space. Could do with a little table and chairs on the upstairs balcony as well as the downstairs terrace although it is just about possible to get one of the chairs from downstairs out into the balcony if you try! Sands Beach is a bit of a reflection of some of the other parts of Costa Teguise generally, in need of a bit of investment and TLC but still seviceable for a cheap winter sun break. The apartments are also well setup for self-catering which is what I would recommend for other guests. We booked half-board with Jet2 but downgraded to bed and breakfast after the first evening. The evening food choice was a bit random, limited and not exactly hot. Breakfast was better in terms of choice but not temperature of the hot food so unless you want continental I wouldn't bother with the main restaurant at all. The pool bar however served lovely food if you want your main meal at lunchtime. Staff were all really friendly and helpful, couldn't get on the WiFi when we arrived and the reception staff went through it with me (an issue with how the passport numbers had scanned in their system as it turned out). I wouldn't stay at Sands Beach or Costa Teguise again but I wouldn't put people off staying here as long as they aren't expecting 5 star luxury! P.S we did see a couple of cockroaches during our stay but don't think that's necessarily a reflection on the hotel, they are quite prevalent in the Canary Islands generally due to the climate
