This hotel is much bigger than places we normally stay. Our room had a hot tub but not on the balcony as we expected but in the room which was a waste of space. Consequently, we didn’t used it. The staff were friendly and the cleaners are excellent. The food was of a good quality, but it was very difficult to find what you wanted. For instance the meat or fish was in one place and you had to go searching for vegetables elsewhere consequently by the time you sat down your food was cold. I was surprised to find that water was charged for with dinner. In a four-star hotel, I would’ve expected wanted to be supplied free. We enjoyed our stay and one of our party had particular eating requirements since she was catered for very well. I would not return here for the simple reason that we like to sit down for dinner choose from a menu and be served

Hotel reception quick check in , then got told to wait whilst someone came to take our suitcases to the rooms . Hotel reception quick check in , then got told to wait whilst someone came to take our suitcases to the rooms . After a long flight and stood waiting for 10 minutes , I believe also manager walked past us and never asked if we needed assistance . Then my husband went back to the receptionist to ask if we had been forgotten about . She then called the luggage guy who miraculously appeared . First impression of the room ok , to say we pay just short of 5K for 2 rooms I expected a bit more of a cleaner standard . Space wise good , we had a jacuzzi which was good , toilet when you flushed this constantly ran water you had to keep flicking the switch till it stopped ! Not great when you need the loo through the night Breakfast was lukewarm if you chose cooked . Lady on the omelette station , I greeted her with a smile and good morning . Wish I had got name now … never smiled / spoke . Even got my husbands request wrong as she didn’t seem to want to be there or cook ! Sun lounges , horrific how people can place towels from 7am and not return till after midday . We witnessed this numerous times , whilst others came looking to find somewhere to sun bathe and nothing was available . Shocking how people get away with this when the rules state 60 mins towels will be removed if you don’t return . Would I stay at Barcelo again probably not , too much money for what should be 4 star . Makes me think whether the prime location is what they feed from .

Stated here for new years with my partner and really enjoyed it. The staff are great, always friendly and professional. The rooms are comfortable and the beds are really great, ensuring you get a good night sleep. The pool and gym was also great. However there are a few negatives, which might only be due to the time of year we went. Firstly we had to do the old ritual of having to shove towels down just to ensure we could make use of the poolside sun beds, I do not like doing this but it became apparent that unless you put some towels down before 8am then you have no chance of being able to get a lounger that gets much sun during the day. On top of this, the issue of sunbeds is made worse due to the design of the poolside - as it resembles a courtyard almost all the beds will end up in the shade of either the buildings or palm trees for large parts of the day. Even with a decent lounger we often had to leave the hotel for the beach or elsewhere as most of the pool would be shaded come 3pm in the afternoon in December. Other than these issues it was an enjoyable stay, as the staff and the hotel itself put the effort into ensuring guests had a great new year celebration and it’s clear they make the effort to ensure events also take place that cater for guests and help highlight aspects of great Spanish and Canarian culture as well through various activities, food and events.

Having previously stayed in Costa Teguise many times decided to finally try this hotel as a New Year treat. The Grand Teguise Playa does a New Year’s Eve Gala dinner much better. It’s nice that it’s adult only but I feel it lacked a bit of atmosphere. Room was bit tired looking in places. Mattresses on sun beds would have been good. However I would return.

Upon arrival we were absolutely thrilled with this hotel. A very warm welcome at reception with a complimentary glass of fizz whilst we checked in. Our room was not ready so we were asked to leave our phone number and reception were going to contact us when our room was ready (although this never happened). We had a deluxe room with a hot tub on the balcony. The room was nice but not perfect…mould in shower, a few tatty edges to fittings and holes in pillow covers. Totally liveable but just wanted to make comment on them as we paid A LOT for a weeks stay. Our room was also constantly in the shade so never had the sun. A really nice touch from the hotel was them knocking on our door on my husbands birthday with a bottle of fizz. We did not have time to drink the fizz before we went out for his Birthday meal, so we left it unopened to have the next day. However….when our room was cleaned the fizz disappeared!!! I was shocked to say the least. On the cleaning front, the rooms are turned down daily, which was a very good factor of our stay. The sun bed situation around the main pool was horrendous. The rule was supposed to be no towels on beds to reserve, but this was not the case, and I feel the hotel should take stance on their rule for no “towel” reservations. This was a shame as the pool areas are lovely. Breakfast was nice. A good choice was available. We found “Champs” Sports Bar to be pretty awful. The staff were quite frankly rude (my husband went in to ask a question 15 minutes before they opened and he was quite literally shouted at). We ordered lunch one day and I found it to be inedible so left the whole thing (less one bite). I was not asked if everything was OK and the staff quite literally could not be less interested if they tried. We had already paid for the meal or I would possibly have refused. The location of the hotel is pretty perfect. Close to everything and very accessible. All in all we had a nice stay and no certain aspects ruined our holiday but we would not rush back.
