We held a wedding reception in H10 in November, we had quite a large group of 25 with us. Prior to flying. We could not fault the hotel at all, our guests all had a wonderful time and highly praised the hotel. The hotel does seem to cater more to tourists from mainland Spain than it does to English tourists. Not all the bar staff speak English and the entertainment tended to cater to Spanish audiences, but we really enjoyed that, that was a big plus to us. There aren't many direct flights to the UK, so you really can't blame them for catering to Spanish guests, but if you're used to the busier islands it might not be what you expect. We were kindly offered a room upgrade, and have a grand superior suite. The room was huge, and had two balconies, one with plenty of space for sunbathing. They had a great view of the ocean as well. The balconies also had very little light pollution, which made it a great spot for watching the stars at night. All of our guests were very happy with the rooms. We did notice a few rooms around the hotel were being renovated, but it seems like most are quite modernized now, so I wouldn't worry about any older reviews talking about renovations needed. We did have one guest with us that recently had an operation, which meant we didn't know how mobile they would be. The hotel were really helpful beforehand in arranging a more accessible room for them, which we were very grateful of. The only very minor downside to the rooms being from the UK was a lack of kettle in the rooms. The suites all has Nespresso machines which was nice, but if you need your tea in the morning, buy a travel kettle before coming. I think this mainly because they want to cater to Spanish audiences so it really wasn't a problem. The hotel is only a few minutes from the airport. There is occasional noise when flights take off to the north, but it never disturbed us. The flights seem to stop quite early so they never disrupted any sleep. For us, having the airport nearby was a huge positive, as it made it very easy for guests to get to and from the hotel. The local area had a few shops and a lovely black sand beach. Not a huge amount to do nearby, but the buses to Santa Cruz were cheap, frequent and easy, so we kept busy. The food was generally really good quality. I've stayed in a lot of all inclusive hotels and the food here was a lot better than a lot of the places I have stayed. It never felt repetitive to us and it always seemed like good quality. There's not a huge amount of choice, but what's there is generally really good. We had some fussy eaters with us and everyone said the food was a highlight. Some of the food did get a little bit cold if you were there right at the end of meal times (the beans at breakfast were usually the worst offender), they could probably do with investing a few heaters to keep that warm. The rest of breakfast was really good though, freshly made pancakes and lovely pastries. We did have a vegan couple with us as well. The only downside was that vegetarian and vegan food was not labelled at all. They had to ask a chef every day what food they could eat. The chef would take them around, point everything they could eat and we're very helpful. They did however have plenty of choice, more choices than a lot of other hotels. They could just do with a bit of labelling. Sometimes as well there were not enough serving utensils as there were dishes, so they were being used across different dishes, which might make it a little difficult if you're worried about cross contamination. But overall the vegetarians and vegans were very happy as well. As for drinks, we were all very surprised with the quality. Cocktails were being made fresh with name brand alcohols. Some times there was a little bit of a long wait if they had a lot of cocktails to make, but we can't complain at all. There were cafe quality espresso machines which means you can get a good quality coffee at the reception bar in the morning too which was a nice bonus too. Check out on the last day is not until 12, which is great. They did take our all inclusive band from us at checkout, but they said we arrived in the afternoon on the first day, they would give us a ticket for lunch and drinks until our flight. As for the wedding reception, all of my communication with the hotel beforehand was really helpful. Everything was really clear and they made the whole process very stress free for us. We only held the reception in La Palma, so there was no ceremony, just the meal and party. They had a lot of set menus to pick from, but they were happy to make adjustments to it for vegetarians, vegans and pescatarians, which was really great. The gala set menu was really high quality, all of our guests were impressed by it. We had 5 courses followed by cake. The waiting staff really made the day as well, they were completely on top of everything. They were very quick to keep your drinks topped up. They were all incredibly friendly and helpful too. Flower arrangements and decorations were up to the hotel, they handled that all for us. We did tell them that lavender was a theme of the wedding, and they did use lavender on the flower arrangements which was really above and beyond. The cake was included as well, it was freshly baked for us. They recommended a traditional Canarian bienmesabe, to accommodate for all our guests dietary requirements. They even surprised us with some lavender on top, which again was above and beyond. For the price we paid, having high quality 5 course meal for 27 people, waiting staff, bar staff, an open bar with name brand alcohol (even for the non all inclusive guests), a DJ, flowers, decorations and set up all included, was really incredible value. We can not recommend it enough for anyone looking for a destination wedding! Thank you so much to all the staff for making our week even more special! We'd highly recommend the hotel! Staff verry friedly and helpfull
