I second most of what has been said by scoobysnax. Great place to stay. Pools are not heated so a little cold this time of year (October) but bearable, to be honest the sea felt warmer once you were in. The beach is only a short walk along the front and is not sand but ground up volcanic rock I believe, but serves the same purpose. It is only a short drive from the airport, we rented a car which we collected from the airport and it took less than 10minutes to get to Lago Azul. We had the half board option, with breakfast and dinner provided over the road at Caleta, where the staff were so friendly and helpful too. You could sit and watch the sun come up over tenerife while having your breakfast and morning coffee. Which for me was special. Also the food over there was good, with buffets provided with a decent selection suitable for any pallet. Back to the apartments. Twin beds were comfortable. Travel cot was provided for our 9month old. There are planes taking off and landing to the airport but only a few jets a day, the rest are island hoppers which are a lot quieter. Really enjoying our stay, and plans are already in place to come back.

We chose this location as it was close to the airport ... so close we could see it from our balcony!! Some people apparently are put off by the noise of aircraft taking off. It didn't bother us at all, in fact it was great to see them taking off!! There are only a couple of jets a day, the rest being the small island hopping aircraft. If you decide to stay here, get the number 500 bus from the airport for only 1.37 Euros. Very convenient & cheaper than a taxi. If you decide on the bus it goes down the hill first into Los Cancajos then comes back up the hill to the stop for Lago Azul. The apartment was clean & comfortable. There was a small kitchen area with microwave, fridge, sink & hob. No kettle, but boiling water on the hob was no problem. The twin beds were comfortable as was the sofa bed. Our balcony had views of the rugged shoreline which is only feet away from the apartment complex, with the waves crashing against the rocks. There is a small supermarket on the complex stocking most of what you'd need for your stay. Also a bar/cafe. The onsight restaurant wasn't open during our stay as it was classed as low season & the owners were on their holiday. There were plenty of places to eat in Los Cancajos & I can particularly recommend the La Habana across from the Lago Azul reception. Ate there several times, the grilled tuna being the highlight. To visit other parts of the island you really need to hire a car. There are plenty of hire car offices in Los Cancajos. We found Coco Cars the cheapest at 25 euros a day. We hired a car for 2 days to visit the observatory, well worth a visit above the clouds, the scenery is spectacular. We also visited the rock pools at Charco Azul & went dolphin watching from Tazacorte. The capital Santa Cruz is also only a short bus ride away. If you are looking for a beach holiday then La Palma isn't really for you. There are only a few beaches, the sea is rough & quite cold in September. We found it windy in Los Cancajos although the wind did drop for a couple of days. If WiFi is important to you it might be better to have an apartment on the reception side of the complex. The apartments on the seaward side had very poor WiFi. There are no English channels on the TV so take other entertainment. Also the pool isn't heated so in late September it wasn't great to swim in.

Accommodation was adequate,a bit tired but clean. Kitchen had microwave, toaster, and two ring hob, only downside, no kettle! Also if you are British, take some entertainment with you, as there is not one British channel on the tv! Good location, only 10 minutes from the capital Santa Cruz, also a good supermarket on site. I would also like to add, dont book a transfer from the airport, catch the 500 bus, which cost 1.37€ to the apartments, and is just one stop from the airport.

Only a short ride from the airport, reception was quick and efficient. The room itself is large and clean, although we found the cleaners over a week to be a little hit-and-miss. Our room had a sea-view and overlooked a car park and the airport. The hotel could use a bar, although there was an Italian restaurant onsite and a few around. There is a supermarket onsite. A ten minute walk to Los Cancajos beach.
