1st time in 45 years of marriage that my husband & I have been away at Christmas. It was a very relaxing break. The Hotel & grounds are beautiful. The Parador has lovely views over the Port of San Sebastian. It is a steep walk down the hill to the shops & restaurants, & also a steep walk back. But you can take a taxi if available. The Parador is very traditional & quiet with indoor gardens & traditional furniture. The food is lovely. Personally, It would have been nice to have a little music or light entertainment over the Christmas period but it was relaxing. Nice sized swimming pool, but not heated & very cold (the sea is warmer!) We upgraded to a superior room with a sea view & patio area, or the standard rooms have a view of the inside gardens. The hotel were a little short staffed in the restaurant over Christmas, but ok after Christmas. Bit of a queue for the coffee machines at breakfast, & they kept breaking down - (small detail though) Tip: When arriving at Tenerife airport, take a private taxi to the ferry port if there is an option of an earlier ferry crossing to LaGomera. We waited for the Tui coach & missed the ferry by 5 mins, then had to wait another 2 1/2 hours for the next ferry. Also book your car hire in advance through Cicar. As it is a small island, if you are travelling at peak holiday times, they run out of hire cars. Would highly recommend this Hotel

“Warm, friendly and beautiful Parador”

Loved our stay in this Parador. (Español más abajo) We stayed one week at the suite in Parador in Gomera (October 2024) and the experience was lovely. The room was spacious and the views were lovely on the water side. The food (breakfasts and dinners) was excellent and the service was wonderful. Ricardo, Yubisay, Camilo, Virginia and Benito worked extremely hard and were extremely attentive to all of us (even when every person in the Parador showed up for breakfast at exactly the same time). Their patience is endless and they are always professional and polite. We were impressed. The front desk staff go out of their way to help and everyone made our stay just great. The location is superb. The room furniture was a little bit tired (the couch had some stains a holes, which should not happen, and the lounge chairs in the pool had stains in the foot area, which probably could be removed with a cleaner). The common areas were wonderful and beautiful! Enjoyed our stay a lot!! Nos alojamos una semana en la suite del Parador en La Gomes (Octubre 2024) y la experiencia fue maravillosa. La habitación es espaciosa y las vistas en el lado del mar son maravillosas. El desayuno y cenas son excelentes y es servicio lo mejor. Ricardo, Yubisay, Camilo, Virginia y Benito trabajaron sin parar durante nuestra estancia y fueron extremadamente atentos (incluso cuando parecía que todos los huéspedes aparecíamos a la misma vez para desayunar!) Su paciencia era inagotable y permanecieron siempre profesionales y educadísimos, una maravilla. Nos dejaron impresionados. El personal de recepción también fueron atentísimos en cada momento de la estancia. Nos trataron muy bien todos, siempre. La ubicación es estupenda también. Partes de la habitación estaban algo cansadas (el sofá con agujeros y alguna mancha y las tumbonas de la piscina con manchas en la zona de los pies). Dicho esto, las zonas generales son preciosas. Nos quedamos encantados!

This hotel is a surprising oasis not far from the ferry terminal. However, to access it you will need to take a taxi (10 euro) from the rank a short walk along from the ferry. Do not try to walk up the steps to get to The Parador. If you are carrying bags, wheeling cases, or are not very fit, you will regret it. We walked it without bags on many days and it wasstill a bit tough. When we arrived at the hotel we were immediately taken with its stunning beauty, the incredible gentle warm breeze flowing off the ocean, and The Parador itself. Our room (105) was on the ground floor and was extremely clean and spacious. The doors leading out onto our small terrace allowed a marvelous view of the garden, and a small walk to the lavish swimming pool - a sun trap if ever. The staff was very helpful. There were some language barriers as they did not speak English entirely well. Or us Spanish at all! Dinner here was an absolute delight, with some delicious dishes on the menu and very good wines. All at reasonable prices. Whenever we ventured down into the town we were actually disappointed with the food offered there, and preferred the fine dining at The Parador. (I will revue these on another section.) If you do walk down and up from town remeber to say Hi to the townfolk whose houses you are passing to get to and from the hotel. They did seem suprised when we said hello but I think they appreciated it and were very warm people. The Pardor, besides having a great restaurant, also has a very nice bar. You can also sit outside in a Riad-type setting in the shade to have a pleasant drink in the afternoon and evening sun. My only gripe there was the bar staff were often missing. This was the same at the swimming pool in that there was no bar near the sun loungers and so it was a trek back up to the bar itself and a bit of a wait for service. Unusual in a hotel of this calibre. We stayed for 8 nights, such were the delights of this hotel. We hope to go back as often as possible to this little slice of heaven in the Canaries. As we checked out so early in the morning the hotel also provided a packed snack with drinks, which was very thoughtful of the front of house staff. They also arranged a taxi so early in the morning! Thank you! We tried to leave a tip for all the great service, but the hotel would not accept this. So, if you do stay, make sure to take some cash for the waiters and cleaner. The latter whom I must say was quite remarkable.

“Weekender”

A great location for a two night break ahead of return ferry to Tenerife. Lovely building with many traditional features and artefacts of interest. Decent bar and restaurant. Free breakfast as an Amigo member for first booking!
