“Amazing holiday!”

We had the best time at this hotel. It is a TUI Blue hotel. The only negative was that the air con in the rooms did not seem very effective. Going in October the weather was a bit more overcast which suited our family with young children. Plenty of sun still and often the best part of the day was around 4pm. There were loads of activities in each day for adults and children. Our daughter went to baby club twice and loved it, she has come away with lots of crafts. The childcare staff were lovely. Entertainment at night was good, the staff shows were excellent! Food was good and varied. Children’s buffet was good too. The whole hotel did not feel too busy, although I can imagine in peak season this would be a lot different. Couple of shops outside the hotel so you didn’t have to go far for anything you needed. It is on the beach but this is stones so if a sandy beach is a must then this would not suit. Only been home a few days and already missing it!

As an advisory.. I am writing the review as a traveller, as part of a couple - we booked knowing this was a family oriented hotel, as part of our research ahead of taking children away next year. We just wanted a weeks break in the sunshine so basically a drop n flop holiday. We stayed AI Pulling up to this hotel and never having stayed this side of the island I was a little cautious, but getting in though the hotel door, you are met with a welcoming smile at reception and this clean and modern reception area opens out onto a view of the gardens. Speedy booking in process and away to the room - you couldn’t fault it. Room 614 - Nothing super positive to say about this room really other than it has a great view.. and it was cleaned daily. The room is split level, not sure if all the rooms are? The room it’s self is quiet even though it’s sat above the bar and restaurant area. The furnishings need attention, the main bed is so uncomfortable to get in and out of - the base and mattress are smaller than the bed surround, which leaves a lip all the way around the bed, after a day or two I noticed bruising on the back of my thighs from getting in and out of it & the sofa bed on the lower level, I have to say I wouldn’t have been happy to put children to sleep in it. We didn’t need to, and there wasn’t a need to go anywhere near it at all and for that I was happy. The dark furniture has had a hammering and does nothing for the aesthetics of the room. Fantastic customer service - first night we had to report issues with the ineffective AC in the room on the way to dinner and also the fact that the shower head in the room was broken - did that on the way to dinner, advised someone would look at the issues and by the time we had eaten our evening meal & had some drinks at the bar, we got back to the room and it was all fixed! Superb service! Other than the room which I felt was very much below expectations - the rest of the hotel is lovely The food is great, variety at the Buffet Restaurant plentiful, fresh and good quality. Themed nights a few nights of the week. We ate once at the place at the pool once at lunchtime and decided that we would go to the main restaurant and eat after that at lunch.. the main restaurant caters for Children at all meal times and I loved the fact that they get their own buffet area. The only observation I’d say is that there aren’t only people stating that have children with them.. the adult seating area is too small (I’m not sure if in busier times if the season they open up the other restaurant seating) We booked to eat at Theas one evening and were blown away by the food there too. The hotel staff team are hard working and nothing is ever too much trouble, they go above and beyond to accommodate requests and make your stay enjoyable. A big shout out to the TUI Childrens reps and entertainment team.. They work hard daily to deliver a jam packed, up beat entertainment programme that has something for everyone. Sun beds are plentiful.. why some people still feel the need to reserve I’ll never know but it’s really not needed at all. We used the Spa facilities and Pool to break up the days.. again amazing attentive staff and for a small extra cost a day benefits were amazing - if I were to score the hotel I’d give it a solid 8/10 - I just wasn’t happy with the room condition and comfort

Stayed here during half term with family (14 in total) and I was slightly worried when reading some reviews but I can honestly say I have no faults. Plenty of activities throughout the day for adults and children of all ages. Our young children went to kids club every day and loved it - good processing for security also taken into consideration. We only ate at the buffet restaurant so can’t comment on the other restaurants in hotel. But the buffet was great and plenty of options. We were there for Halloween and the hotel made such an effort. Decorations, Halloween cocktails, Halloween themed foods. The entertainment team also did their own show and it was honestly brilliant. Entertainment is standard hotel style but it was fine for us to keep the kids happy. Not much around hotel to go for a walk but we caught a taxi to Maspalomas which is stunning. Rooms were basic but clean with no concerns.

Before I start, I just want to say that I think we were just unlucky with our holiday here and that the problems we did encounter were treated seriously by the hotel staff. We arrived around 11pm ish on a Friday night. The flight and transfer from the hotel has been fine. The hotel had left a very simple cold buffet out for late arrivals. Our room was on the fifth floor and had a beautiful view of the coast. Unfortunately my daughter had an accident in the bed and the following morning, we informed the reception team who said they'd fix it straight away. The first day was very windy and the pool was cold. We went down to dinner on either the first or second night of our stay and the dining room was chaos. It was exceptionally busy, I'd never seen anything so manic in my life. We tried to find a table and eventually did. I went into the buffet area and struggled to get any food. Queues were being ignored, kids just wandering aimlessly dropping food and pushing in front of people. Even some of the adults did not have any common sense or manners. The kitchen and waiting staff were understaffed and stressed. I managed to get two slices of pizza and took them back to the table but by that point the pizza was cold and I was very reluctant to 'go back into' the bedlam in the restaurant. My son, aged 9, has autism and the noise, atmosphere and chaos were quickly having an effect on him. So we left the cold pizza and went to a restaurant in the square across the road. When we complained to the reception staff we were told that it was peak season and it was a crossover evening between guests leaving and arriving. Either way, it was utter bedlam, bordering on dangerous. My husband spoke to Ulrica the following day and she offered for us to eat in the à la carte restaurant next door, which was far quieter. We still ate from the buffet restaurant but carried our food through. It was much better and far quieter. To be honest, the restaurant was never quite that busy again but mealtimes were causing a lot of anxiety for my son so we stuck to the alternative plan. The restaurant staff worked hard but just couldn't keep up with cleaning the tables to make space. The following day we noticed a leak from the ceiling of the area just outside the shower. Water was just streaming down the ceiling, past the fuse box, creating a puddle on the floor. While I took the kids to eat in the restaurant, my husband spoke to the reception team. Naomi, the TUI rep did a fab job of getting us moved. David, the hotel manager was happy for us to move the following morning but we did not think it was safe. When we returned to the room to pack up our things, there was a maintenance guy fixing the issue. Apparently the air conditioning unit had leaked. He wasn't too worried about the safety but we were. We were moved to a junior suite which was a nice upgrade, now with a view over the main part of the hotel. It was a little noisy when the show was on but we weren't that fussed. We had asked for a late check out as our outgoings flight back to the UK was not until 10pm. At first, reception could not guarantee this. We were very worried about not having a base on the last day. As a family with an autistic child we need routine. When we asked Ulrica if we could be reimbursed for the meal we had to buy across the road after the restaurant saga, Ulrica offered to honour us a late check out free of charge. So we moved rooms a third time (the junior suite was needed on Friday) to a room in the Tres Vidas part of the complex. This small apartment was lovely and in hindsight, would have suited us much better as a family - sorting out our own food and routine. When we returned to the UK, we soon realised we had left my daughter's precious teddy bear in the second room. We were all very upset but thanks to the efforts of the hotel reception team (Fer, Adrián, Dina and Regina) the teddy was tracked down. A kind lady then transported the teddy back to the UK for us. So, to summarise: Positive: hotel grounds, pools, proximity to the beach, nice little walks nearby, proximity to airport, taxis readily available, staff generally very helpful, tasty piña coladas. Negative: restaurant too busy, food choice sometimes poor, entitlement of other guests (I know that's not the hotels fault), pool was cold, pool bar food was limited. Would we return? If you'd had asked me at the beginning of our stay, I'd have said 'no' but if we did return it would be to the Tres Vidas, self-catering/ half board area. Although this wasn't the best holiday we've had as a family, Ulrica, David and Naomi, as well as other staff (Fernando in reception) did what they could to rectify things. We now realise that as a family the all inclusive holiday just does not suit our needs, mainly because we need flexibility to address the needs of our son. Thanks to the staff for their support and never say never if we can get Room 299 in Tres Vidas next to the beach and chiringuito!
