Just left Cala Nova, great apartment, great views to the harbour (was on 7th floor) Staff were friendly and helpful. Towels were changed 3 times during my week here.Free wifi , and cooking facilities but I had no cutlery,so ate out. Snack bar was handy when hungry though. Pool area was always full, due to people getting up early to put sunbeds out with their towels! Didnt use it Lots of steps down to get to shopping centre,but I found a shortcut along the road .Only downside was the noise from a bar in the Shopping Centre late at night ! Went on till 3am .Will definitely go back just for the views and the beautiful beach .

Stayed here for 9 nights what a lovely family holiday we had, perfect location for both shopping center's and the beach. Lovely welcoming staff, rooms cleaned daily we had one of the down stairs family rooms and it was absolutely perfect big balcony which was a right sun trap (even though it was very hot) and just at side of pool and bar. Only thing i could pick fault with was not having a microwave in room. I no not everyone would use one but even if option was to hire one would have just topped our holiday off with full marks. Been back just over a week and already pricing up to return next year

Went with Jet2 for a week at the end of September with my wife and two adult children (22 & 20). As my children are now young adults and both working, we decided to go for a self-catering holiday rather than our normal AI (they paid their own fares for a change). Our main positives: - totally spotless hotel and grounds, - great rooms, together with big balconies, - very reliable WiFi throughout the grounds - great views of the resort as a whole. Our main negatives: - no air conditioning, - underequipped kitchen - balconies can feel overlooked In short... would we return? Yes, without doubt! :-) ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆ The location: ★★★★☆ Before I continue, I would seriously recommend researching Puerto Rico (which I have reviewed separately). The resort is a long valley, with a wide flat area at the bottom and some steep sides for all of the hotels/apartments. Cala Nova is probably one of the better placed, at roughly 1/3 up the eastern side (I pity those on the very top!), and approximately 500m from the main shopping area and 800m from the beach. The main issue is that although it is nice and easy going down to the resort (plenty of steps between streets, or you can work around them by following the footpaths), it means that it is uphill all of the way back. We found for us that we preferred using the steps going down, and come back up via the streets. Taxis are also readily available, and seem reasonably priced. On the walks down, you mainly pass small single storey apartments, giving a better view across the valley. At the near side of the shopping complex you have a HiperDino supermarket and the inevitable McDonalds, whilst there is a Spar close to the beach, so it isn't far to get any supplies that you may need. The hotel and grounds: ★★★★☆ On arriving, we felt a little anxious by the view that greeted us. From the street, there is a couple of small ramps that lead to either 25 stairs or a small lift up to the ground floor of the hotel, with a short walk across to the reception. There is a small 'shop' attached to the reception, which provides basic supplies (water, drinks, snacks, etc) and is operated 24/7. Although more expensive than some of the supermarkets, it works very well for any items you may need when you first arrive (especially at 1am, like we did). The nature of the hotel is that each floor is layered back to the slope of the valley side, so that each room is set back from the one below. Again, there is a small lift available or an external stone staircase (16 stairs per floor) to access the rooms. The whole complex was kept spotless throughout - the poolside area was cleaned daily, with the loungers and parasols collected and stacked at the end of each day. The pool is small, and is split into two, with a smaller one for young children. Although we did not use them, they appeared clean and well maintained. The loungers and parasols were available for use from 10am for you to manually unstack and move to your required position - with some being 'reserved' by the inevitable towels for the remainder of the day. There were approximately 50 loungers and 10 parasols, so enough for about half of the hotel residents at full capacity. There is also a bar with tables scattered around at the far end of the poolside. The rooms: ★★★★☆ Very good sized rooms, with the main area comprising of a small kitchenette, dining table, large couch and TV, and a sliding door onto the balcony. The bathroom is small but useable with a walk-in shower. The bedroom has two single beds - VERY firm, a good sized wardrobe, and another set of sliding doors onto the balcony. The main issue is the lack of air-conditioning, meaning the rooms can get very warm (for the end of September, we were hitting 27-28 degrees outside), although fans for the rooms were available for a reasonable rent - 2 euros per day with a 10 euro deposit. Some people have also criticised the décor as dated, but I think that is the style used - a sort of distressed wood effect, painted primarily in light blue. The kitchenette is a little small, with a sink and twin-ring induction hob. Only one of our two rooms had a microwave, which is set into one of the higher cupboards. There is also a full sized fridge (with freezer compartment), kettle, toaster and coffee machine. Others have said they had no cutlery, but we found that there was a drawer set in the top of the top drawer). The utensils were very basic - no spoons for the hob, and a couple of brown-handled steak knives were the sharpest available. We found it a little tricky to make meals, with only two rings and no oven - most of our self-made meals ended up as hotdogs or pasta. Although it sounds daft, the balcony was the high point of the rooms - a large open area (approximately 18 foot wide by 9 foot deep), with a table and chairs, and pull-out clothes dryer. As the rooms all face the same way, you all get the view across the valley, with a decent view of the harbour and beach area (we were on the 4th floor, so I can imagine this will be even more impressive on the higher floors - there are 8 floors in total). As the sun rises behind the building, it tended to hit the balcony around 12pm, and sets behind the far ridge at about 7pm. The only issues for this area is that because each floor is set back from the next level (the back of your balcony is the front of the one above), you can feel overlooked. The rooms were serviced late morning, with 3 changes of towels and 2 changes of bedding during our 7 night stay. _____________________________ The bottom line - although the access to the hotel is elevated, this has to be acceptable based on the resort. Possible improvements to the room are better facilities in the kitchenette and the addition of air-conditioning. Otherwise, a very enjoyable stay - thank you!

Return visit to Cala Nova third time this year , nothing changes pleasant staff appartments clean and towels and bedding changed regularly Minus point this trip a couple in their late fifties every day in our first week blasting out their own music so loud you could hear it when approaching the hotel from the road also were on the 4th floor it was loud this couple had no concern about the people around them at the pool area thankfully they went after a week of our stay peace restored? No new couple arrived again playing loud music innocuous to people around them left bad impression to guests new o the complex Cala Nova sort this out .I have booked for preliminary for next year depending on reports I receive WR.UK.
