I have explained my experience on the following: -Vegan options in dinner & breakfast buffet -Enough sun chairs -Cleaning is excellent -Few down sides but nothing major Riu Palace Maspalomas is an excellent hotel. My first 5 star hotel experience and I definitely want to to it again, both the 5 star experience and stay at RIU chain again. As a vegan, the hotel did not dissappoint either. My expectations regarding vegan options were rather high since it is a 5 star hotel and the RIU website says they cater to special dietary requirements. I informed the hotel in advance (as they recommend) and was told to tell the boss of the caterers at the buffet. I couldn’t find him but another worker at the buffet helped me and told me what I can eat and what not. The next day he remembered me and asked if I would like him to show me again, but as I had discovered dietary symbols in the food labels, I told him it’s okay since I can look for them myself. Some of the food labels say vegan, some of them not even though according to the symbols (and to common sense) they are indeed vegan. Also if you ask the chefs behind the live cooking stations (¿es vegano?), they will tell you. As for the vegan options and food, my expectations were certainly exceeded. Every night there were a lot of vegan choices, so much in fact, I couldn’t even properly eat all of them even though I ate so much I was veery full every night. There were (depending on the night) beans, tofu, seitan, mushrooms, eggplants, zuccini, nuts etc. Salad buffet was great, and sooo much fruits I don’t think I’ve ever seen such variety in a buffet before. Also few of the many desserts were vegan. Could’ve perhaps have more choices in dessert but honestly I didn’t mind since every time I was already so full with the existing choices. They also make you your own pizza if you ask, you just go pick up the ingredients you want and give them to the cook behind the pizza live cooking station, and they’ll make you pizza with the toppings without cheese (just explain, soy vegana, puedo comer una pizza sin queso). Also at breakfast buffet, there were a lot of vegan choices, from vegetables to fruits, mueslis to seeds to vegan yogurt to vegan smoothies to vegan pastry and so much more. Definitely the best buffet I’ve ever been to. Ofc, if you’re non-vegan, there’s even more choices but I would definitely recommend the hotel for vegans as well. At one dinner I found several little flies at my salad which was obviously very discusting but could happen anywhere so I wouldn’t read too much into it, just an unfortunate thing. They had a vegan chocolate fountain that night so my night wasn’t exactly ruined😉. Furthermore, the hotel area, facilities etc. were great. For once there’s enough sun chairs you have a spot even if you come later in the day to the pools. Also nice that there is two pool areas. Sun lounger/couches/bali chairs are only for those who have a suite, but you can also rent one for a day, which costs 50€ and includes a cava bottle. Not ideal but I understand it, and were I to have been there with a friend, I think I would’ve rented one for a day. The security box costs 26€ for a week, which is quite expensive, I would hope it to be free in a hotel like this. Everyone from reception to waiters to cleaning ladies are very nice and kind. Cleaning was done twice a day which was quite a lot, we used the ”do not disturb” sign sometimes or happened to be in the room and told them we didn’t need cleaning if it was the second time in the day. With the dunes so close, it is nice to have the floors cleaned once a day, which they certainly did😊. We had a problem with the shower drain and reported it through the app, and maintanence came in rather quickly to fix it. All and all I would recommend the hotel for anyone, also for vegans.

Everything about this hotel screams luxury, it really is a must stay kind of place, the service is incredible the staff are so friendly and helpful and the food breakfast and dinner you won’t be disappointed. This hotel is on the dunes so the views are amazing

This hotel is an absolute stand out in the 5 star hotel crowd in the Canary Islands. What makes that ? Apart from the fact that the location overlooking the dunes and the beautiful hotel itself, it has to be said that the staff here are truly amazing. Every single one of them - so motivated, friendly, helpful and genuinely clearly love working here. Why? The leadership is outstanding! The hotel manager has the most awesome leadership skills that her team of 300 are absolutely dedicated to their jobs every day. I have been fortunate to have traveled extensively and to have stayed in many beautiful hotels. However I have never before seen such inspiring leadership in the hospitality industry. This results in every guest being delighted every day with their holiday experience and needless to say the hotel has a very loyal following with an exceptional number of repeat customers. Highly recommended without any hesitation for a wonderful stay for anyone coming to this island, at any time of year. Just one extra point - it is an Adults Only property which does add to the tranquil atmosphere for those of us who prefer this type of holiday experience. Congratulations Riu Palace Maspalomas team ! And a message to the Riu group directors - you have an absolute star of a leader here!
