I don't know the old Rondo and therefore this review refers exclusively to the completely newly renovated new Rondo. I also find it difficult when people keep writing about how it used to be. The fact is that the hotel has arrived in the here and now and I couldn't imagine a nicer place to have a great holiday on Gran Canaria. As soon as you enter the lobby you are greeted by bright colors, natural materials and a modern freshness that always seems warm and welcoming. The tables with the large stones, the taut ropes, the open - always round shape - simply invites you. At reception we were greeted by two great employees with a delicious cava - Alisya and Melanie made sure with their smiles and infectious positive attitude that after some initial difficulties we got the perfect room for us - despite the hotel being almost fully booked. Thank you very much again for that. Even after that, the two of them, as well as all the other colleagues, were always there for us with help and advice. There is a free shuttle bus that goes to Playa del Ingles twice a day and once in the morning to Maspalomas. It is a large coach and since it starts its route at the hotel, we always got a seat. Then we went to breakfast the next morning and it really was a small sensation. We were greeted again with a great smile, this time from Pilar - who took exceptional care of my coffee needs. Again, a big thank you for the great, delicious latte macchiato. Then the incredible selection of high-quality local specialties at the breakfast buffet. Salami, Serrano ham, liver sausage, cooked ham, countless different types of cheese (cream cheese, Brie, hard cheese, Gouda and Emmental), freshly cut fruit, various types of sparkling wine, a large selection of bread and sweet pastries and so on. But the best thing was the egg station with Chef Rodrigo. He had everything under control at all times - even when there was a big rush, he didn't get hectic, but always prepared the requested dishes with lots of love and professionalism. You should definitely try the Tostada con Tomate. It is freshly roasted on the grill after you order it - simply delicious. Of course, the buffet also has ready-made fried eggs, bacon, beans, Spanish omelettes, etc. But the short wait is definitely worth it. There are plenty of representative photos of the hotel on their website, so I've only uploaded a few of the breakfast and the great view of the sunrise from our room. Next door in the large fitness studio you can also use the sauna - during the day there are delicious ice cream and snacks from stylish food trucks above the pool. The pool seems small, but there are 2 jacuzzis and the great loungers are really comfortable. The pool bar serves good cocktails until late in the evening and always a nice chat. The quiet rooms are lavishly large, modern and lovingly furnished. The large TVs can be easily connected to Airplay - so you can easily stream your favorite TV Shows or similar from your iPad to the TV. There are also plenty of German and international channels. The bathroom is just as lavishly large - my only criticism is the shower partition, which is about 30cm too short - so you regularly flood the bathroom when you shower - even if you're careful. It would also be cool to have a bar of soap on the large washbasin. Yes, there is a dispenser in the shower. But I personally find it more thorough to wash my hands with solid soap. And maybe a local provider can be found here too. For me, that would raise the already very high standards a little. For me, the new Rondo is a total success. As I said, I don't know the old one. But here you can see how you can breathe fresh, modern life into an aging hotel with a lot of love and passion. We'll be back in February - then with half board. The same room has already been reserved and we're looking forward to trying the evening meal - hopefully a la carte again. Until then, a big thank you to everyone for the great holiday. Recently returned home from HL Rondo. We had a great stay in a lovely hotel with the nicest staff. The hotel is in a great location for all things you need. Less than 10 minute walk down to Yumbo, the beach is a longer walk but didnt phase us but there is a free bus from the hotel. Restaurants and supermarkets also close by. We did have a little blip at check in at no fault to anybody. The receptionist dealt with it professionally and was super kind and helpful giving us all the information we needed! A glass of fizz on arrival was also a nice touch. Reception was fresh, clean and modern- first impressions were good. Our room was fresh, clean and modern. It was large with plenty space for all 3 of us. Decent size bathroom and a spacious shower. Beds were very comfy. Room was cleaned each day by friendly house keeping team. We were B&B but the breakfast was lush. Options to suit all. All staff at breakfast were really friendly and the lad cooking in the show cooking area was always happy and chatty. The pool is a lovely area, although we didnt use it we did sit around it. Lufegaurds are always there and both guys are lovely. Free towels to use at the pool or you can also take them to the beach and can be swapped for fresh ones from the lufeguards. There was also plenty sun beds to find. No need to reserve. The pool bar was great, nice food and a range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. All staff in the hotel were lovely and friendly. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The hotel has a boutique feel about it. Thank you for a nice stay 😎

“Lovely hotel”

We saw this hotel being renovated while we were here last year and thought we would give it a go so glad we did staff were fantastic the breakfast was stunning but there needs to be some gluten free bread/ vegan yogurt just some things for people that have intolerances pool was clean and beds reall… more

We saw this hotel being renovated while we were here last year and thought we would give it a go so glad we did staff were fantastic the breakfast was stunning but there needs to be some gluten free bread/ vegan yogurt just some things for people that have intolerances pool was clean and beds really comfortable. Gym and sauna were brilliant. The only real issue with the room is there is a soil pipe that is boxes in next to the bed could really do with some sound deadening as you can hear flushing and water coming down the pipe. We would definitely stay again

“Didn’t meet our expectations”

Arrived on the 19th December for a 10 night stay. The outside of the hotel is very appealing, the reception was lovely bright and airy, all natural colours, check in very smooth nice friendly hard working staff throughout the hotel . Beautiful big room , very comfy beds , large walk in shower, only criticism there is no draws , and not a lot of coat hangers. Now the bad bits , were was only bed and breakfast and the breakfast was like feeding time at the zoo wasn’t relaxing or pleasant at all, we found ourselves numerous times having to set our own table , the selection of food was fantastic but always cold, I did raise this complaint and all I got was we are sorry it’s because we’re busy, the hotel is also serving meals to the sister hotel due to renovations, we should have been notified of this. The pool area nice lovely big comfy sunbeds, pool just right temperature, then comes the weekend and it goes down hill due to the hotel next door axel beach the music starts at 12 and stops at 6 and it’s boom boom for 6 full hours , and the language from the dj is disgusting and shouldn’t be allowed as the rondo is a family hotel and the young children shouldn’t be subjected to this , so bring earplugs , complained to reception and was told nothing can be done about it, due to it been during the day. Lots of people left and went to the beach as it was spoiling their day. Would we come again or even recommend definitely no .SORRY
