We stayed at the Gran Canaria Princess for 2 weeks at the start of December and had an absolutely enjoyable and relaxing holiday. The room was spacious, with a very comfortable bed. If you don't find your pillow comfortable, there are more to choose from in the cupboard. We had no issues with the shower, a slight change in temperature, but nothing drastic. Free safe was useful, as was the fridge. I brought my own hairdryer as I don't like using the fixed ones in the bathroom. They give you pool towels, so you don't need to bring your own. Our room overlooked the front of the hotel and was quiet if we had the door shut. Air conditioning was fine. We didn't join in activities, but others made use of yoga, shooting, fitness etc Signs are put on the sunbeds to stop people from reserving them too early. Lifts were working, but always had people waiting on them at busy times. We were on the fourth floor, so did the 80 steps as much as possible for the exercise. We really enjoyed the food. Usually on a holiday we will go out for meals a few times if we get bored, but we ate in all 14 nights. We enjoyed roast chicken, lamb, duck, salmon, rabbit, pasta, pizza, soups and beautiful desserts. One evening they put on a chocolate fondue fountain, with profiteroles and sweets you can dip in. I would recommend sitting outside in the evening, its warm with the lamps on and a totally different vibe, it feels like you're out for a proper meal. We didnt go to the evening entertainment, but you are near the Irish Centre, where the pubs have live music, which we enjoyed. We were half board and were happy with our choice. We did ask how much to upgrade to all inclusive, but we wouldn't have used it enough to be worthwhile. We would happily stay here again. We booked flights and hotel separately, which was more economical, and got the 66 bus from the airport to right outside the hotel.

“Great hotel”

Beautiful hotel food excellent, the only down side was the food in the snack bar wasn’t very and good and the selection was very limited. The TUI rep Luis was fantastic as he went to such lengths to help me locate my phone when I lost it. Thank you Luis.

The entertainment was really good some nights ,but then a big let down on other nights . .....the biggest let down was the food in the restaurant , undercooked or tough meat ( that we couldn't cut or chew ) we saw pork with blood on the carvery a couple of times 😮 ......we basically ate mostly from the salad bar with bread to fill us up ......not good when you've paid a small fortune to stay here . ...we would not return to this Hotel because of the badly cooked food .

“Wouldn’t return”

On arrival my issued room card didn’t work, so back down to receptionist, who seemed surprised, and checked it, said it should work, but that he will change it anyway. Back up to 5th floor to meet maintenance guy he sent to my room, who fixed it. Card then worked fine rest of stay. Not a great start. Hotel clean and spacious. Staff okay. Food is good, slightly better than Eugenia Victoria down the road, but similar variety. Burnt myself grasping one of the plates in restaurant, went to bathroom to run my hand under tap which isn’t very cold - not offered any help by 2 onlooking cook staff. Came back to my table to find my ice cream has been taken away. Pools i believe are not heated as cold, and the hot tubs are luke-warm, not hot. The steam room certainly is hot, very nice thick steam that i can only stand for a minute or two. The sauna however is just right roughly 85°c. Towels provided in this area - ask the spa receptionist to look up from their phone for a second and take the fresh towels out if they are run-out. This whole Relaxation area by the gym is often overlooked by guests, and has some sun and shade beds away from the pool which is good. Pool side towels are provided in your room on arrival and can be laundered and exchanged in the morning around breakfast as mentioned, no extra charge. Lifts are not great having only 3 for a large hotel, at times can be quite a wait, especially if one is out of use. Hotel is lacking a roof top sunbathing area. Shower in the room did indeed change temperature by itself in my room, but it wasn’t unbearable, it just didn’t make it enjoyable, no bath option. Basin did not drain away fast enough. Aircon and fridge worked okay in room, lack of English channels on TV but there’s a few, water bottle in room on arrival, also kettle with tea/coffee. Safe was free to use in the room. I found the mattress okay, pillows were very uncomfortable, all though varying in texture, all variably uncomfortable. My balcony overlooked a solar-panel car park, next doors hotel and part of the road, with the town in the background. Not given a band for my half-board stay, was asked by restaurant staff once if i was supposed to be there, after showing the card thing they gave me it was okay. May be not the hotel for single travellers. Having experienced rival hotels in the area, i cannot justify the price, will return to PDI, but not this hotel.
