This is our second stay at this hotel. We were there on this occasion as to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary. We let the hotel know prior to arrival of our anniversary. I asked if they could do something special to help us celebrate. They e mailed me back to say they would decorate our room and give us a bottle of cava. We didn't actually get the cava until we made a point of asking for it, and the bar sorted it with the management. I agree with most of the other reviews about the hotel location and beautiful, tropical well maintained gardens. Being as it was very close to Christmas, the decorations and lights were wonderful. As other people have said, the rooms probably are a little dated now. As our stay was a special occasion we booked a superior room. I would have liked a separate bedroom, but it came with a fairly large balcony with sunbeds and table and chairs. With regards to the room we had, there was a tea/coffee making area. Unfortunately, the kettle lead didn't reach the wall socket so we had to boil it on the bedside cabinet. The coffee pods and milk are supposed to be replenished everyday, but we had to ask for these on a number of occasions. We were staying half board plus. Thus we did not have lunch included. Bearing this in mind, I think the hotel should cater for anyone wanting to self cater for lunch. There were no plates and no cutlery provided. The tea and coffee area only had wooden stirrers. The fridge was on the small side with no ice making facility but was functional. The bathroom was fine but you do have to ask at reception for a non slip rubber bath mat. You have to hire the safe which we were very disappointed with as a lot of our previous hotels include it in the price. There are two pools to choose from, both with warmed water. The food options for evening meal was very good, although it takes a while to get used to where everything is. The breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choice. There was bubbly available every day, and even vodka for Bloody Mary's if that's your thing. With regards evening meals, you get an allocated table for the week, however we did ask for a different one which wasn't a problem. The maid service was very efficient and all staff we encountered were polite, helpful and friendly. The reception deserve a special mention in that respect. Finally (if you've managed to reach this far !) the main lounge bar area is fantastic. There is live music there every night which is lovely and atmospheric and nicely subdued. The actual bar is beautiful, classy and rounded with a number seats and resembles something from a completely different era and time - and this is where this hotel really comes into it's own. The cocktails are very reasonably priced ( nothing as I can remember costing above 9 euros ). The main man Andres isn't a bartender as such, he is a highly skilled mixologist and provides cocktails of the highest quality. If there's a cocktail you fancy which is not on the menu, he would endeavour to make it provided they have the ingredients. The nuts provided with each drink are a welcome bonus. Overall, we had a great stay and enjoyed a wonderful anniversary - although we did eat out on the actual day.
