Beautiful hotel and amazing location. Staff were lovely and helpful when asking questions. A few could be quite abrupt but not a massive issue. Breakfast was amazing, couldn’t fault it! However, evening food was awful. Cold, not much option, it’s a bit of a jumble sale tbh. However, we did eat at the pool restaurant and the food was beautiful! Ended up being a more expensive holiday as we ate out in the evening. Rooms, are spacious. A bit of tear and wear but otherwise really nice. Walked in to food and a bottle of wine due to a late check in! We stayed in block H and had a sea view, which was quiet and really nice to wake up to. Around the pool they had one person collecting glasses and taking drink orders. I would have expected them to have more staff given the amount of people they had staying. We had a really late flight home and requested a late check out. However, due to capacity they couldn’t facilitate this. Wasn’t ideal for someone who has health conditions and needed somewhere to go. Ended up laying down on a sofa in the lobby ( weather wasn’t great). However, these things do happen. I would recommend this hotel to other people, but some improvements need doing to make it a 5 star.

“5 star buildings let down by food and service.”

We are active young 50 ish couple from England so like some entertainment, drinks and good service. This is a Beautiful hotel with stunning architecture and pools, lovely spacious room and great wi fi throughout. The room and general areas were kept very clean. 15 min lovely stroll to shops and restaurants. Enjoyed the quiet pool as temperature is better. Major grumble I couldn’t score 5 as Food labelling in general is poor and for allergens there is no labelling of what contains wheat or other allergens, you have to ask and the response is not great, head waiter basically said everything could be contaminated by handling and so wouldn’t answer if soup contained wheat. Every other 5 star hotel manages to add simple symbol labels so not sure why Lopesan don’t do that and allow Gluten free to use buffet. Food in general was not great and we were glad to be able to use the Costa Meloneras and Baobab buffets where the service food quality and choice was much better, in fact the whole dining experience was another level, allergen labelling no different though. The staff do seem very understaffed at VDC and often running out of things like bread loaves and glasses etc at breakfast. Minor grumbles Pool bar is a joke for getting drinks and our liver is better off as we would have spent much more money on alcohol generally but it is so difficult finding a waiter at the pool bar. In 9 days we saw waiter serving drinks at quiet pool once but not once were we asked for drinks. Terrace square is lovely but underused in day as can’t even take a coffee there and on the evening you have to sit on hard metal chairs when they run out of cushions! If you have booked here don’t worry you will have a lovely holiday but you will probably experience some frustration at service and food. Definitely try using the buffet at Meloneras, outside area there is so much better with better service. Could be stunning with some customer service improvement and food improvement but I’m afraid if at similar price point I would go back to Riu Palace.

The hotel is beautiful and extremely well maintained throughout. The communal areas including pools are stunning, the grounds are unreal. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would book again. The only negatives are the bar service, which is extremely inconsistent. The rooms are also a bit tired and in need of a revamp. Pack an adaptor if booking as there are very few sockets in the rooms!
