This is the hotel where I return every year. The rooms are spacious and beautiful, food is simply excellent and the location next to sea is just great. For me a big plus is the possibilites to do sports… big pools incl. the salted one, fitness program of the hotel, Meloneras golf nearby and tennis tournaments in nearby Lopesan hotel. Highly recommended.

“Not a 5 star anymore”

Have been to this hotel before so this is our third visit this time. Room was lovely as usual but needs a kettle . Have to say this time we noticed the lack of staff around pool areas and waiter service non existent. Pool snack bar didn’t have much choice for a quick snack and very disappointed that you couldn't walk into the poolside restaurant without using a QR code/booking even though tables were empty and the manner of the staff very rude there. Restaurant quality very good in the evenings but chaotic , this is possibly due to an influx of guests from the other lopesan hotels coming to eat in this hotel due to the chaos over there , 150 guests extra one night. We did try the dine around option at the other hotels but left as the buffets were chaos - so can see why people would want to come to the villa but this leaves guests staying here unable to get tables or service. The lack of labelling of food is also concerning as it was impossible to know what things were without guessing, if I had allergies I’d be very concerned staying here. I do not think this is a five star hotel anymore. You should not have to pay extra for ‘unique’ service to get the service you’d expect of a hotel of this calibre as standard. It was very disappointing to see that large parts of the hotel are now roped off for those paying extra especially as the previous times we’ve visited these have been for everyone. We are all paying alot of money to stay here anyway so this should be standard as a 5 star resort (padded sunbeds, tea/coffee service at breakfast etc.) The grounds are beautiful and very clean but parts of the hotel looking tired and dated now - broken sunbeds, tired paintwork, faded chairs etc.. I feel this hotel is slipping in its star rating and there are not enough staff.

Having stayed in Lopesan hotels several times now in this area we thought we'd give this one a try for a change. It is a bit further out than others but we're talking an extra 15 minutes walk, if that. The hotel is beautiful and the entrance and foyer is stunning. Front desk staff and concierge are pleasant and helpful. The demographic of guest is largely an older crowd and middle aged couples. Sometimes the pool areas and surrounding amenities were a little flat and too quiet. It depends on what you want of course. Although we had a comfortable and pleasant stay with it being quiet and the rooms large and spacious, unfortunately there were a few negatives; the first applies to all Lopesan hotels I think, the size and directions to rooms. We spent a good 20 minutes trying to find the room. Although you get a map upon check in it didn't help! As seasoned travellers and switched on people even we struggled! We had to eventually ask 2 cleaners who seemed equally perplexed. The other problem is the air conditioning. For some reason Lopesan hotels have this stupid 'policy' of the air conditioning not going below 22 degrees. This is far too high, even in November. I had experienced this before with another Lopesan hotel and so had called ahead of arrival to ask they adjust this for us based in my partner having a medical condition. They did do this for us and this was appreciated but they need to understand 22 degrees is not cool enough in the climate of Gran Canaria. From all I can gather when I've asked then about this it is to simply do with their 'sustainability/environmental' agenda. Respectfully, paying what we did it is a prerequisite that the room be comfortable Lopesan! However, the room was clean, spacious and comfortable, although they don't change the bed linen very often unless you ask or the towels, unless you leave them on the floor of the bathroom. Another let down was the breakfast staff. We've experienced a bad attitude with the catering and restaurant staff several times now, which is very disappointing. Other guests were also passing comment. They are a complete contrast to the front desk and concierge staff and seem like they don't want to be there. They are quite abrupt and rude and you have to be firm where you want to sit and with any requests you have. It's all very transactional. The choice of food is good but not amazing and the layout of the breakfast area is simply bizarre! You're walking up and down as the drinks are buried in a corner and the food sporadically laid out on islands all over the place. All just a little strange. Unfortunately the staff seem to be fine if you're of the older generation and dressed like 'The Man from Del Monte'. If you're younger and dressed casually, but appropriately of course, or are a same sex couple you get a different service in my experience. Quite disappointing. I almost found myself getting braced for battle each morning as we headed to breakfast. Get on this Lopesan, it isn't acceptable and is an easy fix. Overall, a good stay but lots of room for improvement based on the calibre of hotel this is and the price you pay.

We stayed here 2 years ago and thought it was a lovely resort with a good location to walk to restaurants and shops. We did however have issues with the room we were allocated. I had paid extra for the Double view room so we would have a seaview. It was my husbands birthday. The room allocated had a dark and dingy balcony with views of plants and another building. Only if you stood by the edge of the balcony, leaned over and looked to the left could you just about see the sea. After going and complaining to reception we were not given another room. They do however email within a day for feedback and when I expressed dissatisfaction we were immediately moved to a suite which was lovely. So this year I was a bit apprehensive about booking again - I decided to just go with the Double standard room which does not have a seaview. However in the notes I asked for a high floor and a quiet location. I also said a seaview would be nice! On arrival we were told we had been upgraded which was a pleasant surprise and that we did have a seaview. When we got to the room which was in the main building the seaview was wonderful. However we did not have a balcony! We decided to just go with it until the evening when we realised this was far from a quiet room. The music they have for entertainment is set at a ridiculous volume. The room was double glazed and it was still loud in our room. We again gave feedback and were told they could move us but we wouldn't have a seaview or a high floor. To be honest we had by now unpacked everything so could not be bothered to move everything. This hotel has such wide variances in rooms that we will not be booking here again. And if they cannot provide the basic things promised when you book such as a balcony which it clearly states should have been in our room then we need to pick somewhere else. The hotel insists the room we were given was an upgrade to the Double view room, due to the seaview. But the Double view room does have a balcony!! Pros It’s a lovely hotel for the pools and outside space. Nice location to walk to restaurants Lovely food and choice at breakfast We were able to pick anywhere we wanted to sit for breakfast. Cons The evening entertainment is so loud you can hear it even when walking towards the hotel from the town. It goes on too late in our opinion - until 11pm. Lord knows how those with children get on. Likewise even the children’s entertainment in the afternoon is full blast and we never saw more than one poor child there being blasted with ridiculously loud music. There is no fridge or iron in the room. The worst towels ever in a 5 star hotel - tiny, thin and rough. There are only 2 lifts from the Plaza to the rooms and one wasn’t working on at least 2 days. Also the lift from the car park was not working on one day. Getting out of the bath after showering is downright dangerous - how an elderly person would manage it I do not know. There is nothing to grab onto and the step out of the bath is very high. Too much of a lottery with rooms - a double standard could literally be anything they wish to palm off on you. They have decided to police very strongly what you can take from the restaurant after breakfast - we used to enjoy taking our coffee or cava out to the Plaza after breakfast - not allowed anymore due to ‘food security’. We even witnessed an elderly gentleman try and leave with a banana and they took it off him. This is supposed to be a 5 star resort. However we had a man on the next table literally making up sandwiches, and wrapping them in napkins and Jiffy bags he had bought in!! I asked on the app if we could bring our own wine to the plaza as we did not have a balcony and the response was yes as long as you only sit on the first row of seats. Good lord this is ridiculous So as nice as the hotel is to look at, someone in management needs to rethink some of their practices which prevent people having a relaxing and happy holiday
