Hotel Riu Palace Oasis

“Another stay and excellent as always 29 years coming here.”

Just back after our second visit this year. This hotel is our home from home everything we need for a perfect break is right here. Staff, food, facilities and surroundings are just superb. Roll on Next year.

I loved every bit of this hotel. All the staff was lovely, the food was made with passion and tasted amazing, the cleaning was excellent, it was highclass service and kindness from everybody! You could really see how hard they worked to make our stay to a great experience. I will be back next year!

We have just arrived home from a week in Gran Canaria and we stayed at the Riu Palace Oasis. We stayed at this hotel just before covid and we remembered it as a very clean and hospitable hotel. So we decided to try the hotel again mainly due to the easy beach access. The rooms are still clean and modern. We specially liked the roomy bathroom with the bit shower - fantastic shower pressure by the way. It was a bit tricky for us to get the a/c working the way we wanted, but we solved it after a few tries. Beds are comfortable - perhaps on the harder side but still nice - good variation of pillows. We stayed in the 'annex building' and we were a bit bothered by the sound from the evening entertainment, but other family members who stayed a bit further down the corridor were not bothered. The entertainment was on until around 11 PM. There are three separate pool areas (plus one in the kids' zone) and generally they were peaceful although on the small side. Towels are handed out and can be used both at the pool and by the beach, so no use in bringing your own. Breakfast is great and has ample choice for everyone - warm and cold dishes as well as all types of beverages (including morning cava). Breakfast opens at 0730 AM. We were usually there around 8 and there was plenty of space. We traveled on a halfboard arrangement. The first time we visited (2019) we found the evening buffet fantastic. It could of course be that we as travellers have experienced more and are a bit pickier today than in 2019, but we didn't find the evening meny as nice as last time. In fact, some nights it was a bit tricky to find something really tempting. Some nights the meat station was quite good but most of the time mediocre. International buffet was the theme for most of our nights so you could find a bit of everything. What really disappointed me was the traditional Spanish food, e.g. the salmorejo. I really like salmorejo but the one offered (in shot form) was not edible. I also tried the paella and it was not good either. Pasta was actually a bit better and one evening I had lamb chops and there were nice and tender. So in all the quality could have been much better and I would expect at least one of the evenings there would be someone carving some jamón directly off the bone. We booked ourselves into the restaurant called Botánico one of the nights and although they were serviceminded and took great care of us the food was not good. There was no extra cost compared to the buffet, but we stuck to the buffet for the rest of our journey. All in all we like this hotel a lot due to its placement next to the beach and the nice surroundings with the garden. Also the level of hospitality is very good. The food really needs improvement though - especially for seasoned travellers.
