We stayed here for New year , all we can say is that as an extended family we had a brilliant time . First I’ll do negatives * New Year’s Eve was celebrated at 11pm for Spanish new year and 12am for English and canarian New year . It felt that the 11pm new year was celebrated more and it left the 12am New year flat . It would also have been nice for one night to have the all inclusive until 12am with it being New years Eve . * surrounding area very run down and in our opinion not for families . POSITIVES : The staff and entertainment team are first class a big shout out to Gonzalo who made our days and nights so much fun ,as well as other entertainers but he was our favourite . Bar staff excellent and friendly Nicklos was our top bar man for the holiday . Food can be Luke warm not red hot but we always found something to eat and not had a problem . Bungalows were cleaned well and comfortable . All in all everyone had an amazing time in the hotel and we would definitely come back

“Arrived as guests, left as friends”

Well, what a great hotel!! We spent 2 the first 2 weeks of December in this hotel being allocated room 233 on arrival, and choosing the all inclusive option. Our apartment was very spacious with a huge bed and a further sofa bed in the lounge area, which also had a huge flat screen TV, a little fridge, a kettle and a coffee maker. There was also loads of cupboard space in both rooms. The shower room was lovely with a very good power shower and complimentary toiletries. Both the bed linen, which was fresh and crisp and towels were of very high quality. On our terrace we had a table and chairs, a couple of sunbeds and a sunshade. Everything was spotlessly clean and maid service I think was daily apart from Sunday. The pool and garden areas were pristine and there was plenty of sunbeds. The food in the main restaurant was very, very good with plenty of choice and variety at all meals. There was themed nights, barbeque nights and loads of meat and fish dishes, a sushi bar etc and the deserts were just to die for. There's a seriously good pastry chef in that kitchen!! Our favourites were the sword fish steaks, the roasts, and their sauces and guacamole were also delicious. We also dined in the Emblem restaurant a couple of times which was a very nice experience. For every 5 nights you spend in the hotel you get a voucher for that restaurant. The crowning glory and the icing on the cake for us was the staff here. They must have combed the the whole of the island to secure staff of this calibre. Each and every one of them was efficient, hard working, friendly and we were greeted with a big welcome and a smile every time we encountered any of them. Leti in reception was so friendly and informative and helped us with loads of stuff. A beautiful lady, inside and out. I think because we usually sat in the same area in the restaurant we saw the same waiters that worked that area, and we had most contact with Ahmed, Dunia, Fara, Dianet, Yaiza and Marco. They treated us like royalty short of rolling out the red carpet when we arrived to eat and although the wine was self service, if Marco saw our glasses empty he immediately replenished our glasses. A true gentleman and excellent waiter. We loved how friendly the chefs were, and despite being busy and hardworking they always had time to joke with us and explain the dishes to us. Within a few days they knew how we liked our eggs, and that we liked our steaks well done. Pedro, Juan, Chano, Arron, Chow and Kevin, we will never forget you and thank you for helping me to learn a bit more Spanish!! The 3 guys that worked in the emblem restaurant were professional, friendly and efficient and nothing was a problem for them. Unfortunately we forget their names. Actually we forget the names of a lot of the staff but every one of them was fabulous. If we come back to the Gran Canaria we would book this hotel in a heartbeat. “Overall good experience , some things to work on…”

My husband and I stayed for 7 nights all inclusive in a premier bungalow ( not emblem) from 15th-22nd December as were keen to escape the U.K. for a blast of pre Christmas sun. We went as a family with our 2 year old son, and chose this hotel explicitly for its family friendly nature and amenities. Some positive points ; -Family friendly - on site parks, slides etc and kids clubs ( we didn’t use but good for older kids) -Feels big and safe and enclosed so was able to let my toddler run around freely -Splash park was great, he was in it daily and proximity to the lunch restaurant and bar made it nice for lazy days watching him -Never any issue getting sunbeds -Bus to beach was handy and saved taxis -On site shop was very handy and affordable for toddler milk and snacks -having the cot made up and ready ( with a little keepsake teddy bear for my son) was a nice touch and enabled us to just enjoy the resort when we arrived instead of spending time setting things up -it is a pretty little resort generally, well maintained and clean , pools pristine -Staff seemed pleasant , not overtly friendly like some Mexican resorts when everyone says hola wherever you go -Close to yumbo centrum if that’s your thing, not really our vibe but good for a few short walks and to visit some duty free shops for perfume and cosmetics - regular cleaning from the maid which was nice - apartment was useful with a little kitchen , microwave , fridge. Shame it got too cold in the evenings to really enjoy the nice walk out garden -when the atmosphere is clear, you get quite an epic view of the mountains of the island from the hotel pools Negatives ( things to work on) -Would have liked the kids pools to be heated. I saw countless kids not enter the pool which clearly bothered their parents but luckily I have a mental 2 year old who just dived in irrespective. I just had to on several occasions pull him out to stop him getting hypothermia which caused unnecessary meltdowns. -Emblem disparity in quality- I don’t really understand this concept. To me it would be much better to raise the prices across the board and have one standard for all guests. It makes you feel inferior constantly , with drinks you can’t have , cabanas by the pool you can’t use etc. We ate in the emblem restaurant for dinner one night and the quality was striking compared to the buffet so clearly standards can be raised -On to the food quality generally - breakfast was my and my toddlers favourite. Generally a decent spread of all the hot things - and continental options ( yogurts , cereals , fruits, pastries , pancakes , fresh bread). You could always find something. Most days I had freshly made omelettes and even on a few occasions , smoked salmon and cream cheese. Really no complaints on breakfast. Never really ate lunch as were always full or out swimming / at the beach. On occasion nipped into the lunch buffet for a few bits of pizza around 3pm but really a small choice and not very appealing. Dinner , hit and miss, would say out of 7 nights, we had 3 we particularly enjoyed as one was the bbq night so options were hot and fresh, one where they were doing beef tenderloin steaks on the grill , people were queuing but they kept them coming which was nice to see and they were hefty and cooked nicely. To be honest , it’s not the best all inclusive food I’ve ever ever but we have been very spoilt with places we have visited, but if you get there early ( and we had to as we always had a hungry toddler so 6pm to eat was late for us), then food is hot and you get the best selection and you just have to look around. If on days I didn’t fancy the hot dishes they had out , I would go for the fish they had taken off the grill, with a nice salad, fresh bread, cheese and crackers etc. You kind of get what you pay for. -Lack of communication- towel costs and where to hire unclear , trattoria restaurant was closed, this wasn’t mentioned at check in, was the bus going to masapolamas beach or playa del ingles? - had to find these things out ourselves. -No cocktails ? Never been to an all inclusive where I couldn’t get a cocktail. Wasn’t massively impressed with the ‘inclusive’ drink selection. -Would have liked a resort on the beach but knew this when we booked. Even with a toddler , it’s not a long walk in our opinion -Meals served at non family friendly times - kids get hungry and sometimes need to be in bed early so would have liked dinner to have been served before 6pm but it worked out with a bit of an adjusted nap schedule -apartment is tiny compared to the photos online ! - apartments too close and not sound proofed at all, on a few occasions we were awoken as some guests were arriving home late and were exceptionally inconsiderate and loud. Overall, we were happy though and had a restful end of year break with our little one. He had an incredible time , we had some nice days out, and reasonable weather. I would say it’s pretty much in line with expectations and value for money. Some things need attention but that’s every place you visit! This was our first visit to Gran Canaria ( or any of the Canary Islands). I don’t know if we chose the wrong time of year as the weather was a bit hit and miss ( had a few cloudy days with very poor visibility and air quality due to the calima , but then this lifted a few days in and remained warm and comfortable mostly 22-23 which is perfect for a family. The country ( what we saw) though is a lot more run down as a place then I expected. Playa del inglés is pretty rough and not somewhere I would go again. Masapolamas and the dunes were pretty but the wind rather spoilt any real opportunity to swim or sunbathe in peace. The main highlight (outside the hotel ) of the holiday that made me think, there is something pretty about this island was Puerto de Mogán. I am so glad we made the trip which was the equivalent of around 25 pounds each way vis private taxi. It had a lovely protected from the wind crystal clear water beach, a lively fishing harbour , loads of restaurants. I could swim in the sea and snorkel! We spent all day there and hired some loungers. Definitely worth a visit and this would be where I would return if we ever came back to Gran Canaria.
