“Lovely stay”

We visited and stayed for a week, location is okay but is slightly far out, Yumbo centre is a 45 minute walk and Maspalomas is around a 30 minute walk but is flat. We visited and stayed for a week, location is okay but is slightly far out, Yumbo centre is a 45 minute walk and Maspalomas is around a 30 minute walk but is flat. There is a free shuttle bus at certain times down to maspalomas and then has certain pick up times to take you back. Pool’s are regularly cleaned and are both a good size but is freezing!! No inflatables allowed. Pool bar shuts at 10 for some people this is too early however I don’t drink so was fine for me. Some nights have evening entertainment which was ok. I wouldn’t recommend eating as we only ate once and it wasn’t very nice. Staff were very friendly and apartments were very clean the only downfall was beds were very uncomfortable. You have to pay if you want to use the AC and TV.

We have stayed at this place many times before when the kids were younger and returned with 3 over 16’s for a week. We used to come here because of the price and despite it previously being a low star resort, we found it offered much more. However, it has removed some lovely features (such as the bridge across the pool and the constant flow of water from the top of the pool bar). The lifeguard wouldn’t allow inflatables nor balls in the pool (we had a tiny soft ball but that wasn’t allowed). This was very disappointing so we had to wait until he left at 6 to go into the pool and play games. We ate in the restaurant on Friday and despite some negative reviews, we found the food lovely. Plenty of salad, paella, fish and steak. The restaurant, pool bar and reception staff are lovely and always happy to help. The pool bar food is fine and reasonably priced but this closes very early. Across the road is the 01 bus stops which take you either to Las Palmas or Puerto de Mogan … these were spacious, cool and pleasant rides. Holiday world (which used to be rubbish) was a great visit with a bowling alley and several street food places to choose from (upstairs). There was live entertainment too. I think this is open late so if we arrive again we’ll walk up here to get some food/drinks because you can’t get anything upon late arrival at caybeach. The sports bar was great too and we played darts and snooker. This was about a 10 minute walk. We love walking so we are happy to walk to the beach, Melanores and playa de ingles but some might find it too much. However Taxi arrives in minutes if you need them and they offer a free bus. I’ll probably come again with my husband but if we were bringing the teenagers/younger adults then we’d choose somewhere else … It’s become too basic and boring for teenagers.

Arrived at the hotel after 1 am to be greeted by a non speaking english receptionist who had to use google translate to explain what she need from us and what to do when we report to reception in the morning. She took our passports of us and gave us map to show where our bungalow was. The lighting was awful and could not the numbers over the doors because they were so small. You need make sure you Euros because you have to pay 10 Euro’s for a tv remote, 10 euros for pool towel, 24 euros for a safe key. The accommodation was clean but smelt of cigarette smoke. The decor is dated and damaged floor tiles, the walls have not been finished properly, the plaster as blown in the bedroom were it looks like the air-conditioning unit as leaked. The fridge in the kitchen was old and discoloured, it had shelves missing and the door was hard against the wall it was not easy to open or shut. There was no bowls to use in the microwave. The cleaning of the room was adequate. We opted for breakfast, wish we had not bothered. The food was awful, to make toast in the outdated toaster to 10 mins. The food was cold and tasteless. We had dinner in the restaurant again this was of poor quality and cold. There is only one pool bar which only has one staff member running it and closes at 10. The staff were very pleasant and polite. We would return to this hotel again due to quality of the accommodation, quality of the food and where it is situated.
