“Great hotel”

Have visited here a few times and this was the first since lockdown. It is still a very good hotel for adults. It is well presented and maintained. Staff are very good. Entertainment enjoyabel. Love the allocation of sunbeds for the duration of your stay. A bit much to charge for the safe in your... more

Have visited here a few times and this was the first since lockdown. It is still a very good hotel for adults. It is well presented and maintained. Staff are very good. Entertainment enjoyabel. Love the allocation of sunbeds for the duration of your stay. A bit much to charge for the safe in your room though. The grounds are lovely as is the pool and bar area. Food quality has deteriorated slightly as many dishes were a bit boring with little taste and much of a muchness. The pool bar food was better than the main restaurant. We have booked again as overall it is a very good hotel.

This is a very good hotel. All the staff (bar one person in F&B) were excellent - always smiling, polite, friendly, helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble. The hotel, grounds, pools, everywhere is kept in immaculate condition - staff work tirelessly. The animation on offer is varied to suit all interests - I did a stretching class twice - both very good - and the aqua gym class delivered by the team leader was brilliant, so much fun. Food - lots of it (maybe a bit the same at times?), well cooked, replenished immediately, different cuisines eg Japanese, Spanish, Mexican nights (personally I'd have liked a taste of Spain, eg tortillas, paella, on a regular basis, every couple of days say); I'm gluten free and ate very well (bar the g/f breakfast cakes which were not good); my husband ate very well. Observations : what did surprise us was no robes in bedrooms, you have to hire a robe (this is not the case in the Barcelo and Hippotel 4* hotels). And to charge €2.5 / day for a room safe is outrageous! Again this does not happen in the Barcelo and Hippotel 4* hotels. One socorrista works tirelessly to ensure all swimmers showered before entering the pools; on one occasion they stopped a bone dry couple as they entered the pool - the couple brazenly ignored the request and continued into the pool, the socorrista could do nothing; the other socorrista turns a blind eye. If people are to shower first, there needs to be a notice at each pool entry point not just one sign on the general "rules" board - this would help the socorristas. We went to the pool bar every evening before and after dinner; the head barman is outstanding but why are guests having to queue (could be up to 10 queuing) to get a drink come 5.30 pm? Because other staff are pulled back to the dining room for evening service. In a 4* hotel the pool bar should offer table service (Barcelo and Hippotel 4* hotels do); guests should not have to queue and one bar person (regardless of how brilliant) should not be left to run a busy bar (serve drinks, clear tables) on their own. To end on a positive which sums up how good this hotel is : we booked a high room with sea view; we got a high room with sea view. And a car park view (before the sea view). We asked if a room change was possible. And it was. We got the perfect room right in the middle of the same floor. As I said ... nothing was too much trouble ... this is a very good hotel.
