“Family break”

I just got back from my holiday at SBH and I must say I was pleasantly surprised after reading all the bad reviews, it took about 1hr to get to the hotel but when we got there, the hotel was clean tidy and full of fun. The staff were so friendly and helpful

I did not have high expectations of this hotel as I read mixed reviews before we went there. To be honest the hotel is pretty good. There were some areas where they could have done better. The room was modern and very clean and was cleaned daily. On arrival, the door hinge of my room door had come off slightly but this was fixed immediately. The corridor leading up to the room on the 1st floor has a carpeted area which had a lot of dried leaves and seemed very dusty. I do understand the dried leaves were from the trees from the Courtyard which is natural however, the dust seemed like this carpet had not been cleaned in a long time. The room has a safe but costs €4.50 per day which I knew of from reading previous reviews. You can get pool towels for €10 deposit and to change for fresh one it costs €1 each time. There are 3 pool areas in this hotel; the main infinity pool area is the busier area with the entertainment and pool/ snack bar. It says the snack bar is open from 10:30am to 6pm. The morning snacks aren't great, there were a free dried croissants, biscuits and fruits. Lunch here wasn't bad you could get hot dogs and burgers here. At 4 PM they put out cakes and biscuits but you have to be pretty quick because once they were gone, they were gone! The other 2 pool areas are quieter. One of those areas has 2 larger pools and a baby pool, where we hang out most of the time which was lovely. Unfortunately there's no bar in the quieter areas, so you have to walk to the main pool bar to get a drink/ snack which wasn't far though. Food at the main restaurant wasn't bad but became same-ish after a couple of days. It was nice when they put out roast duck (which was delicious btw) or another type of roast out every now and then. Local type of cuisine was tastier. The entertainment team wasn't bad. The small team of about 5 people did their very best every day. The kids club is like a sauna as this is in a wooden cabin. The splash pad next to it is great. The hotel is near the beach and you have a full view of the beach/sea. You just have to walk around and cross the road but we didn't bother as it seemed like a mission with younger children carrying bags and towels. From what we heard from our friends you can hire a sun beds for €15 per day but this seemed pointless if you were coming back for meals to the hotel. Overall it was a really good holiday for what we paid and we definitely had a good time there.

Parked our Hire Car easily, plenty of free parking. Reception area is modern and clean. Check in was lengthly and no air conditioning! Pool Towels are 10 Euro each and if you want them changing it's 1 euro every time. We had room 2311 which has excellent sea views and is accessible by steps or by Lift from the 1st floor where restaurant/pools etc are. The rooms are modern, well decorated and have ample space. The cleaners came in most days and always left the rooms tidy. Shower was good and the rooms have a microwave, kettle (no coffee provided), Hairdryer and safety deposit box (4 euro a day). The rooms in area 2 have large balconies with seating, perfect for having a drink outside and drying clothes etc. We stayed in August, the buffet restaurant was busy at all times. At breakfast they did everything you can think of, cooked breakfast, cereals, yogurts, pastries, pancakes, toasties - coffee, numerous different juices. The staff work tirelessly. We didn't use it at lunchtime, there isn't any need - the snack bar turns into another buffet from 1300-1530. They offer salads, chicken/beef burgers, hot dogs, nachos, chips and freshly cooked pizza (very very good) and ice creams. All day there is cakes etc in here too. The self service lager is Amstel and you can help yourself to wine and sangria. The soft drink dispensers are not very cold so ask at the bar next to it for an ice cube! The drinks from the pool bar were really good, yes the Vodka and Gin is 25%, but you can have as many as you want. Even though the hotel was really busy the queues moved quickly. The evening buffet again was really good with three show cooking areas. The Asian Restaurant was very good too and although you had to pay for drinks, they were very cheap. There is the main snack/pool bar, a second pool bar by the largest pool and then a bar in the lobby and the main entertainment bar. Night time entertainment - we didn't see any of the children's stuff, but after 9 o'clock the entertainment is average at best. Animation team - friendly and loads of activities by pool and sports they arrange. Facilities - Table tennis (5 euro deposit) and large chess, pool table and air hockey. There was a football/basketball area. For the size of resort it does need a lot more. Small shop on site selling Toiletries etc. Pools - Great choice, from the reception area you walk onto a terrace leading to one large pool that has been split into two. This area has very large permanent sun umbrellas which seemed to shade pretty much all of the sun! Infinity pool by snack bar was lovely and then a large pool by the other mentioned pool bar. They are cold at first but with how hot it was, very refreshing! Sunbeds - yes there are people taking their towels down at sunrise to reserve loungers! However we would take ours down around 830/9 and still plenty of choice. Location - it's around 8-10 minute walk to beach. Morro Jable beach is stunning and is around 3/4 KM away. We did the jet skis here which were brilliant and there are numerous restaurants/bars that were lovely and clearly did excellent food as they were packed! DO NOT use any taxi transfers/coaches etc to the resort. I spoke to one family who said the transfer by coach was nearly 3 hours due to the stops. Taxi are extortionate. We hired a car which was £150 all in for a week and it's a simple straight, one road drive all the way - it took me an hour. The beach closest to the hotel Is clean and there are some sunbeds if you want them. But we can highly recommend going in the sea, super fun as the Waves knock you off your feet - but not to be used if not strong swimmer due to the rip tide. The hotel has clearly upgraded its rooms as they were lovely and modern but the hotel itself is in need of some serious maintenance! It didn't bother us, but the reviews are all correct. Overall, nice hotel and had a great holiday.

Just returned home after a 2 weeks stay at the Maxorata Hotel. This was a family holiday and a very relaxing a rejuvenating time. The hotel is large and it’s easy to spend time at the resort without feeling the need to venture out. Although there is plenty to do outside of the resort. I like that the hotel has quiet pool areas as well as a more lively area with music. I think the hotel staff work very hard and they make a great effort to look after their guests. The location is fantastic, sea views from the hotel, the beach is a 10min walk away and shopping areas also 10mins walk. It took us a few days to learn where things were so felt a little isolated at first, however this is not the case. A short 8min taxi ride will take you to a lovely town called Morro Jable which is full of restaurants, located on the sea front. The cost was 6-7euros each way. Other transportation options are to rent electric scooters, this was a lot of fun and there is an off road track that runs along the coast so no need to worry about navigating unfamiliar roads. If you’re after some relaxation in a beautiful setting, this is resort is a good choice. The resort itself isn’t perfect, some improvements can be made, the quality of drinks and food does need improvement (just lacking a bit of flavour) and a water point for guests would be ideal to refill water bottles. Some additional resources for the mini club is also needed. Games, colouring pencils, paint, glue etc although it was a nice surprise to see this resort provides entertainment and free supervision for children 4+ for some periods throughout out the day. My daughter really loved her time at the mini club and disco in the evenings. I would definitely visit again in the future. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
