We had a wonderful time as a family at this hotel. We went for a superior interconnecting room which was such a great space for us and our 10 & and 13-year-olds. Two large bathrooms and bedrooms with outdoor space and its own jacuzzi pool overlooking the beach as well as sunbeds if you need them too. The food was just gorgeous and plentiful. We particularly enjoyed the tapas bar, one evening we went there for starters but it was all so delicious we ended up eating there that evening instead as we wanted to sample all the yummy choices and our stomachs were full. Also Oasis bar during the day was fab for snacks, drinks and a light lunch when you're in your swimwear. Very impressed that all the wine was bottled, tasty, no nasty throwaway plastic cups or straws either. The staff were fab. Cleaning plates immediately and constantly keeping everything clean and plentiful. Housekeeping too always managed to service and clean our room while we were at breakfast which was great. The children were kept nicely entertained with water carpets, inflatables and darts competitions. I enjoyed a pilates class, water bikes and aqua aerobics. Highlight for me and the girls was creating glass necklaces though, a lovely keepsake from the holiday. My husband enjoyed darts tournaments, water polo and table tennis too, so we were all kept entertained enough with still plenty of time for enjoying the sun, beach and swimming pool. Would recommend this place as they've thought of everything, even the blankets in the top bar for when the evenings are particularly blowy when you want to sit outside and mocktails for the children/alcohol-free. The location on the beach as well is just gorgeous and an afternoon stroll along the wide flat beach in a must to make the most of the location. My only suggestions for improvement would be more variety in the evening entertainment and advertise the bowling bar better. It's a great space with kids but lacked a bit of atmosphere as not enough people down there.

One of the best receptions we’ve received in a resort. A great welcoming from the reception staff We booked a superior room and were a little disappointed with the sea view. We stayed there the first night but upgraded to prestige for the remainder of our stay. Confusingly the superior room was newer a better than the prestige room but the prestige room had much better sea views. Prestige allowed access to a quieter adult only pool and that was really the only advantage. Everything else was as good as anything. Food queues were hectic at all times during the evening but selection was great. Staff here were extremely friendly and courteous with Andrea in the restaurant being a shining light. Cleanliness was excellent overall and we had 2 separate insect issues which were dealt with and we also received a basket of goodies and wine from housekeeping as an apology which was much appreciated. Although we didn’t have any dealings with the animation team we could see how hard they worked and how great they were with the younger generation. Beach and location of this hotel really set here apart. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and return here.

Really lovely hotel. I think as close to 5 stars that you can get without paying 5 star prices. We went as a family with 3 children (12,10 and 2) so hoping this review helps other families. We were undecided whether to stay at the Gaviotas Playa or Gaviotas Park (that is the hotel behind which I believe is advertised as more family friendly i.e. it has a bouncy pillow and some small slides for younger kids). Fate played a hand and for some reason Gaviotas Park was booked out, so we settled on Gaviotas Playa. I'm sure we would have been happy at both but the view from Gaviotas Playa is incredible and the pools are set in an oasis of palm trees with the sea as a backdrop. The way the hotel is built means that there is also a degree of protection from the wind. We visited the other hotel, Gaviotas Park, one day and it felt a lot more barren/concrete and my goodness it was windy over there. So for that reason I was quite happy with our choice. The food is excellent. I mean, all Iberostar food tends to be top notch but we didn't get as bored as usual. They display the theme on the wall on the left as you walk in. Took us a week to notice this. The chefs are all really friendly. Chocolate fountain evey night was a hit. The entertainment team are a very good bunch. They work very hard and put a lot of effort in with a lot of comedy along the way. We enjoyed all the shows that they put on the evenings. The shows without them (bar the magic show, which was v good) just didn't compare. We were worried that it wouldn't be kid friendly here but there were quite a few other kids and there was a kids club with some activities they took part in. Definitely not as many kids here as other Iberostar hotels and only a handful of kids took part in kids club but there are other activities during the day by the pool for the kids to get involved in, such as a water carpet, inflatable slide etc. The entertainment team were very good with the children. There was also an option to use the soft play in the star camp with our toddler if I came to supervise which was useful. Rooms were large and clean. Cleaning staff excellent and very friendly. The baby pool and middle pool are heated I think. The other pool was quite chilly. Baby pool was perfect for toddlers. No problem getting a sun lounger either. Plenty to go around. There is a mix of nationalities here. I would say 1/4 were from the UK when we were here. The rest probably Spanish or German. Everyone was super friendly and the staff all speak English. Lots of wildlife about too. Chipmunks on the rocks by the beach. Very cute and friendly. 2 white heron type birds that visit the cafe at the hotel each day provided lots of entertainment too. Really enjoyed it here. Couldn't fault it. The only things that could've improved our stay is more outdoor dining options and outdoor entertainment but I imagine this must be limited due the potential windy conditions!

“Very nice hotel and very good service”

Great hotel and great atmosphere. Very good for families with kids. Our 2 year old son loved the pools and entertainment. Very good food and well maintained rooms. Staff was very friendly and overall service was very good. Will be happy to come back
