Generally a very good stay which could be made 5 star with a few minor changes. The hotel is in a really good location if you want a relaxed, chilled time. There are plenty of restaurants (including vegan) nearby and a couple of lovely beaches within an easy walk. We hired a car and I would recommend that to explore the island. El Cotillo is a small sea side village but much quieter than other resorts. I will warn you that if you pick a sea view room there is a building site in front of the hotel. Our room was facing the pool and you couldn’t hear any building work from it. The hotel had nice decor and was very clean. The pool area was fab with a bar serving drinks and lunch. The breakfast was really good with a large selection to suit everyone. I think most people stayed bed and breakfast hence the evening meal being a let down. We just stayed one evening for dinner and it was poor. There were no vegetarian/ vegan choices and the hot food was cold. The service was also poor with one waiter rushed off his feet even though it was basically empty. Other improvements could include plugs in bathrooms, receptionists giving 2nd key card and safe cards on arrival and quieter fridges in the rooms. Little things that make all the difference. Having said that - I liked it and thought it was really good value. Stay bed and breakfast, eat in the local restaurants and you’ll have a really enjoyable trip.

“Lovely quiet relaxing winter break”

Just returned from 8 nights winter break, which was very enjoyable. Mine was a twin/double room, with plenty of space in the wardrobe, safe (extra €15pw), TV with some UK channels (who wants TV on holiday?), mini-fridge/cooler (I'd have preferred a normal fridge with freezer box, there's plenty of room for one). Room also has a coffee/tea machine, with pods and teabags provided and replenished whenever the room is cleaned - nice touch. En-suite bathroom was fine for me - the shower was powerful with plenty of hot water. Bed was very comfy - looks like a thick topper has been used on top of the mattress - whatever, I slept like a log. There've been some complaints in the reviews about noise in the hotel - I'll just say it was the quietest hotel I've ever stayed in - and it's obviously aimed at older clientele, though some families did appear towards the end of my stay, as schools started breaking up for half term. A couple of school surfing groups also appeared, but they were well behaved and didn't bother anyone. Only real noise I heard was one Sunday evening & one Thursday evening, out the back of the hotel, the local drumming group practising on the floodlit square - fortunately they packed up after an hour. I stayed B&B - the breakfast had a huge choice - and I also ate dinner at the hotel, as the evening choice was excellent, varied and great value (€18 plus drinks). Difficult to fault the quality of food. There were restaurants in the village, but some were bistros, closing by 5pm, some others open only part of the week. In the end I didn't bother eating out, was happy with the choice in the hotel. Perhaps next time. There are substantial new building works on three plots of land directly in front of the hotel. My room was the other side of the hotel, so wasn't bothered by any noise, and as I walked out every day, didn't feel it was noisy. You can see a huge crane on one site, from within the hotel. Again it didn't bother me at the pool, reading my books. I spent much of my stay walking around the coast and other villages, also took a couple of bus rides - bus stop out the back of the hotel, and bus station about 10-15 mins walk away. Regular buses to Puerto Del Rosario & Corralejo. Other than that, El Cotillo is quite remote. Plenty of supermarkets - 2 hiper (one right outside the hotel)/super dinos, one spar. Rest of the time I chilled out at the pool, straight outside the apartment door. Huge pool shaped like Fuerteventura, except upside down. Has to be over 40m long, and is definitely heated, contrary to some reviews. In conclusion, don't go there if you're looking for banging entertainment, but if you like a quiet relaxing atmosphere, I'd recommend.

The Hotel is in a lovely location and the whole place is very relaxing. El Cotillo is not the place for late night bars or loud entertainment. The hotel sports facilities are very good and perhaps why it's officially rated as a 4 star hotel but for me the food really lets it down, especially the evening meal. We were there for 2 weeks and felt there was not enough variation or quality given its rating, which is why I guess most people go bed and breakfast. (The very small dining room gets very busy at breakfast time) There is little to no sound proofing between adjacent rooms so you could be disturbed by your neighbours. There is a lot of building work going on in the vicinity of the hotel which may take a few years to complete and this can be heard from the hotel complex at times so I would definitely opt for a pool view room. The housekeeping was excellent and the ambiance and decor of the hotel were pleasant. Private transfer recommended to avoid the potential longer transfer via Corralejo.

Review of our stay at Coral cotillo beach : Positives - Restaurant Staff: The staff were nice and friendly. - Breakfast: The breakfast was lovely, variety of pastries and eggs, fruit and veg on offer -Bus System: The local bus system was reliable, making it easier to reach nearby towns - Beach is under 5min from hotel BUT it is very rocky and there is no direct access to the water and barely any sand -Restaurants and small shops in El Cotillo all within comfortable walking distance from hotel Negatives: - No Wifi on Smart TV: The TV had no internet access and one could only access local channels which is not convenient for international guests - Non-functional Telephone:The telephone in the room didn’t work so reception couldn’t be contacted - Room Cleanliness: The room was dirty and rather dusty, with syringe caps found on the bathroom floor. - Buffet Hygiene:Guests were taking food with their bare hands at the buffet and there was no staff to supervise. - The majority of guests were elderly, which is not ideal if you’re under 40 and just generally looking for a fun and lively hotel experience - Rooms not soundproof: noise in the corridors from other guests could be heard - Unwelcoming Environment for Kids/Teenagers: The hotel felt like a retirement home with an emphasis on quiet, we witnessed guests being unfriendly toward younger visitors who were swimming - Pool Issues: The pool wasn’t heated, and there were random people from the public using it. We saw strangers walking into the hotel and just going straight to the pool and swimming with their underwear. There is no one to monitor to ensure that members of the public don’t enter the hotel. -Unpleasant Drinks:The drinks at the hotel were not enjoyable. No charges to hotel room system, just pay as you go - Water Supply Problems: There was no water at one point, and when it returned, it was brown. - Drain and Hygiene Issues: The drain had an unpleasant smell, and there were little flies. - Lack of Music and entertainment at pool The pool area could have benefitted from some background music to enhance the atmosphere. Aqua fitness was offered but the instructor could only accommodate 5 people as they didn’t have enough material - Lack of Taxis: There were no taxis nearby for easier transport. The nearest company is in Corralejo 30mins away, so without a car, you’re more or less stranded. TIP organise airport transfers well in advance.
