Was a but dubious after reading past reviews but have to say we were very pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and tidy. The whole complex in general was very clean. The bar and restaurant staff were very helpful and polite. The food was very good even serving prawns and muscles one evening. If you like hustle and bustle, this is probably not the place for you. It’s quiet and not really geared up for families which suited us just fine as we were wanting to rest and recuperate. It’s a long walk from the beach so a car is highly recommended if you want to explore. The only reason I gave a 4 star instead of a 5 is because the welcome at reception was not exactly welcoming. The receptionist was rather abrupt and we did feel slightly uncomfortable. Also when we dropped the keys back into reception after our stay, I was ignored by the lady while she sat at her computer and answered the phone. I was left standing there like a spare part. I put the keys on the desk and left without so much as a Thank you or a Goodbye. As this is the first and last port of call for any guests, the reception staff really need a lesson in common courtesy and manners and to at least make you feel like you are not a burden to them.

We found as our stay progressed, the flaws in this hotel came to light. After arriving at the hotel, check in was simple and quick and we found our room was ready before we were due to check in. Once checked in and in the room we had a small issue which was fixed straight away. The man at reception was lovely and very helpful. The room was very clean and throughout our stay it was kept clean by the cleaners who were lovely. The shower was amazing, great water pressure. The hotel itself was mostly clean. The pool was clean and the outside areas were mostly clean and calm. Saying this, we did see a cockroach in the restaurant and were told that the guests in the room next to ours found a few in their room after the cleaning staff had been in. The location of the hotel was a bit out of the way but we loved this. We wanted a peaceful getaway and we definitely got it. While the hotel is accessible for those who are less able, the surrounding area is not so much. There were a lot of hills and steps. It was around 15 minutes to the beach which was absolutely gorgeous. The food in the hotel was abit hit and miss. Breakfast was usually nice. However lunch and dinner were up and down. Some days they had certain types of food and if you didn’t like that type of food there wasn’t much for you to eat. The food was sometimes cold and dry. There were no snacks which we were very disappointed by as from lunch to dinner there was nothing to eat if you got peckish. As for the drinks, this is where our issues mostly lie. In the beginning, the staff were very lovely and very attentive. As soon as we were sat they would ask us for our drink order, however as the week progressed it was very difficult to get drinks and some days we didn’t get a drink with our meal at all. Staff would not come to the table to ask us our order and if we were to go to the bar we would stand there and get ignored. We found, as did other people staying at the hotel who we spoke to, that it was hard to get drinks at the pool bar as the timings it was meant to be opened seemed to be ignored by staff. As well as this, there was no queuing or order and we again found that Spanish people were served first and prioritised. Finally, we asked several times if we could check out one hour later. We were eventually told to ask on the morning of our departure. After breakfast we went to ask if we could stay the extra hour and were rudely told no and sort of waved off. Overall, we wouldn’t rush to go back but we wouldn’t rule it out forever. It wasn’t an unpleasant stay, we just had some unpleasant experiences.

As a former travel agent with years of experience, I have a strong sense of what makes a hotel stay enjoyable, and while Hotel Taimar has some redeeming qualities, there were several issues during our 4-night stay that prevent me from rating it higher than 3 stars. 1. Check-In Experience: We arrived at 1 pm, aware that check-in was from 4 pm. However, not only was our room not ready, but we were also offered no suitable place to change. We were directed to the disabled toilet near reception, which was hot and uncomfortable. A more welcoming and appropriate space would have made a significant difference in first impressions. 2. Reception Staff: The reception team left a lot to be desired. They were condescending, lacked any warmth, and could certainly benefit from customer service training. A smile wouldn’t hurt either! That said, the bar, restaurant, and cleaning staff were fantastic—friendly, approachable, and always eager to help. It’s unfortunate that the front-of-house team does not match the exceptional service we experienced from everyone else. 3. Fire Alarm Issues: During our stay, the fire alarm went off three times in the middle of the night, causing disruption and confusion. Despite the hotel claiming to offer a 24-hour reception, there was no staff around to assist, only a bewildered security guard. It wasn’t until after breakfast that any reception staff appeared. This is a serious safety concern and needs addressing urgently. 4. Post Check-Out Experience: I was very surprised by the lack of flexibility after check-out. At most all-inclusive hotels, you are allowed to continue enjoying the facilities (food, drinks, pool) until your departure. Here, we were essentially cut off after check-out at noon, despite our late flight and pickup not being until 3 pm. When we asked about staying for lunch and drinks, we were told it would cost 30 euros, which didn’t seem worth it considering the hit-and-miss quality of the food. This was disappointing and felt like poor customer service. 5. Food Quality: The food was very inconsistent. While breakfast was enjoyable, lunch and dinner were mostly catered to continental tastes and presented lukewarm at best. There was a microwave available, but it barely worked. If you’re a picky eater, you might struggle here, and the lack of variety meant even breakfast became repetitive after a few days. Suggestions for Improvement: - Sun loungers on the balconies would be a nice touch, as they are large and could easily accommodate them. - The temperature of the food needs to be addressed to ensure hot meals are served. - Reception staff could benefit from customer service training to improve the guest experience. - The fire alarm system must be fixed, and guests need to be assured that their safety is a priority. - More variety in the all-inclusive cocktail options (currently, only two are offered). Overall, while the hotel has potential, it is currently let down by some significant issues, particularly with the reception team and safety concerns. I hope to see improvements, as the friendly bar, restaurant, and cleaning staff, along with other positives, could make this a much more enjoyable stay for future guests. Safe travels!
