We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would return. We went with jet 2 with the all inclusive package. We had a private transfer which was lovely. Only half an hour or so from the airport. We arrived late evening to a welcome drink and straight forward check in. We were provided with a light meal in our rooms as we had missed dinner. The rooms were spacious. Huge comfortable bed. Lovely little terrace. Plenty of water, soft drinks and a couple of beers in the mini bar and a coffee machine. Lovely bathroom with double sink, separate toilet, and the best shower I’ve ever had! Robes and slippers, nice toiletries, big towels. Everything we needed. Rooms cleaned daily and were spotless. Beds turned down at night with a little chocolate on the pillow! The restaurants were excellent. Loads of choice for breakfast and evening meal at the buffet. Plenty of vegetarian options though I think room for improvement on ensuring veg options kept separate and better labelling. Cooking fried eggs on same hot plate as bacon, mixing up serving spoons etc. meant my husband was quite anxious. We also ate in the Italian and Asian restaurants. Both excellent. Especially the Asian one. You have to book early though. The lunch restaurant by the pool was good too. Plenty of choice including a vegan menu. Must mention the staff. All very friendly, helpful, warm people. They make the hotel. Too many individuals to mention. The pool area was excellent. The biggest pool was quite cold but I’d say it was perfect. Plenty big enough for a proper swim. Not allowed to throw a ball or use inflatables. And no aqua aerobics or other activities. I actually think a couple of low key pool activities might have been fun. Loads of comfy sun loungers and towels. On our last day the animation person came round and held a cheese tasting which was fun. A little more low key daytime activity would have been nice I think. The beach was a bit disappointing to be honest. I love sea swimming and it wasn’t really possible. It’s very rocky and the sea is quite wild. There are lots of sun beds by the sea and a little bar. There was an attentive life guard who stayed close when I dipped! It looked as though there was a bar out in the sea with steps to the water but it was closed . I think more info on the tides/currents and swim safety would have helped me feel more confident . We walked into the town to the market on Sunday. Worth a visit but otherwise stuck to the hotel. Had all intentions of boat trips etc but enjoyed being lazy! The spa looked good but didn’t use it as preferred being outside. Evening entertainment every night was nice. Bar was lovely. A more varied cocktail menu would have been nice. As I said, it was a lovely hotel and a really relaxing stay. If sun, good food, friendly staff, gorgeous pool, and decent rooms is what you’re after then it’s definitely an option! Special M Thank you to all the staff.

Just returned from a lovely relaxing week. I arrived late on Saturday evening with a quick and helpful check-in process. A welcome drink was offered, but given the late hour, I stuck with water. I made my way to my junior suite, with side-sea view. The room was lovely. The only slight issue for me was that it was a room with 2 single beds, which, as a solo traveller, meant sleeping in a single bed for the week. The view in the morning was worth it, so I didn't bother to request a change. It was a good size room, with 2 chairs and a small table. There was a desk and lamp. 2 good-sized wardrobes, with drawers. A safe for personal items. USB ports and plugs. Good sized TV. There was a coffee station and a minibar. Drinks (soft drinks/ beer/water) were included and restocked daily. The bathroom had a double sink, 1 of which didn't drain properly. The toilet area could be separated by a small sliding door. There was a good size bath and the most amazing shower I've ever come across in a hotel. There were toiletries, good sized towels and faceclothes, which were changed daily. There was a nightly turn down service, if wanted. There was a good-sized balcony with 2 chairs and a small table, and a drying rail. The balcony made the room for me, as I was able to sit of an evening as the sun went down on that side of the building. The hotel was immaculate. Stunning lobby, bar and pool areas. The pool and beach areas were never crowded, and I managed to get a good lounger each day without any issue. As other reviews have mentioned, poolside drinks service could stand to be improved, that said, it's not far to go to the bar and pick up a drink. Given its 5* status though, I would expect regular service. The restaurants are fantastic. I ate at the buffet for breakfast each day, the seaside grill for lunch, and either the buffet or an ala carte on 3 of the nights. Food as delicious. Not a bad meal once. The buffet has lots to choose from and a different theme each night. Use the app to book restaurants and do it early, as I didn't manage to get into one. The beach bar was great for drinks throughout the day. Sadly a couple of places weren't open, one of which was the one over the sea, I hope they will repair this, as it would be fabulous to have it back. I missed not being able to get into the sea for a swim, and this area has the steps to allow that. There is a spa, which looks great but I didn't get round to using it, sadly. There was nightly entertainment but it wasn't really my thing, with the exception of the night with the 3 guys on guitar, they were brilliant. It's not really a lively hotel, so if your expectations are for a busy boozy hotel. This isn't your place. If you really want to relax and chill out, it very much is. This really is a stunning hotel, and it's staff absolutely make it. All of the staff that I encountered were so helpful and friendly. They work exceptionally hard and long hours, and they are an absolute credit to the hotel. I marked the hotel down slightly purely because there were a couple of small issues and improvements the would help, but overall, this is a great place to relax and unwind. If I could've made it 4.5, I would have. As a solo female traveller, I felt safe and comfortable at all times. There were quite a few lone travellers, which probably helped that. I didn't feel out of place, probably because it was for adults only too.

“Lovely short stay at the adults only resort and spa by the sea!”

I celebrated my birthday at the Secrets Bahia Real for a long weekend. The staff were lovely and friendly. The food was delicious and so much variety. The rooms were decent sized with all the amenities you could want. I had a sea view which was a delight to hear the sea and wake up to sunrise.
