“Great hotel- we would return”

My partner and I stayed here for a week all inclusive, booked as a last minute holiday. My partner and I stayed here for a week all inclusive, booked as a last minute holiday. We paid £600 each to fly with Jet2, plus 2 days entry into PortAventura World and 1 day entry into Ferrari Land. Staff On arrival, reception staff were friendly and welcoming. We arrived to the hotel around midday, but had been awake since 1am as we have a long drive to the airport plus flight time etc. The reception let us into the room early which was very nice. Staff at the bars, snack bar and restaurant were all nice. Maids always said hello when you passed them in the corridor. The maids always came to our room after 11am which was great. On our previous holiday, the maids often came in at 8am and we were still in bed. Mar, Angel, Roberto, Elena (reception) were all very friendly. Food and drink (snack bar, restaurant) The snack bar served pizza, chips, burgers, hot dog, sandwiches (tuna, cheese, Spanish tortilla), fried cucumber, pasta, fruit and a variety of salad. The snack bar served fizzy juice, alcoholic drinks were from the inside bar only. The inside bar had plenty of seating areas and served fizzy juice, wine, beer, a selection of cocktails and spirits. The cocktails were nice, I think pre-made, although the sex on the beach had too much syrup in them making it too sweet to drink. The inside bar also served Pringles, Takis, and Lays, these were around 2.40 to buy (not included in AI). The drinks menu said spirits were a reduced price for AI, however we always got these for free. There were no water fountains around the hotel, however cups of water were included in AI, bottled water was not. The inside bar often put out a large bowl of crisps for you to help yourself to which was nice. The restaurant was nice but very busy. You have to book your mealtimes online which was a little annoying as we ended up planning our day around mealtimes. Breakfast and dinner were often extremely busy in the restaurant so I can understand why you need to book. There was no lunch in the restaurant and instead you ate from the snack bar which was fine. Breakfast was always cooked breakfast, cereals, fruit, pastries, churros, sauces etc. This was all nice and we both enjoyed breakfast daily. Dinner varied and wasn’t always great. There was lots of options, but if you are a fussy eater (like my partner) there isn’t always chicken nuggets or pizza. There was usually plain pasta with your choice of sauce, rice, potatoes etc. sometimes there was chicken nuggets but not always. The food wasn’t always labelled so not great for those with allergies. I picked up what I thought was onion rings only to realise it was calamari, something which could’ve been avoided if the food was labelled. Lots of fish and pork on the menu, not so much chicken which is something we would’ve preferred. Fruit and cakes were always nice, plus ice creams (tubs and cones). Room The room was nice and modern. The room was very clean and we had no issues with it at all. Daily towel changes, not sure if the sheets were changed or not as we were never in the room when the maids were in, however this was fine for us as you wouldn’t change your bedsheets daily at home. The floors were especially clean, every time we showered I used a towel to dry off the floor and there was never once any marks or dirt picked up from the floor. The rooms were exactly as shown on the website pictures. Entertainment There is a timetable of activities on the door to the entertainment room. There seemed to be plenty to do for children, a mini club for 4 hours a day and a small area with a slide and swing. There was also a mini disco every night from 9-10pm in the entertainment room. There was a bar in the entertainment room although this was never open when we were there, perhaps it is open later in the season. Entertainment was ok, first night was a magic show, then a bubble show, then acrobatics etc. it was never really busy but was a good laugh and something to do. Pool The entertainment timetable showed darts, and other games at the pool area however we spent a few whole days at the pool and never saw any kind of activities. The pool was clean and a good size, however it was absolutely freezing and unbearable to be in, but we were there in May so I would expect it to be a fine temperature in a few weeks time. The sun loungers weren’t the comfiest, but plenty of them plus seating areas. There was a chairlift at the shallow end of the pool. There was a life guard also. Quite strict rules in the pool, no floats, no sunglasses.. There was stairs and a ramp outside to the pool area. There are no toilets near the pools, instead you come inside, walk through the lobby and past reception to use the toilets next to the entertainment room. Location The hotel was in a good location for us. Around 10 minutes walk to the strip/beach. Not too busy of an area and only a short walk if you want to be somewhere that’s busy. Short drive from the airport which made our transfer smooth. Overall we had a great stay and if coming back to Salou, we would stay here again.

“Nice Hotel”

We couldn’t fault the cleanliness of the hotel. It was very well kept. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Plenty of choice on the all inclusive. The hotel is a 5 min walk to Salou with plenty of bars/restaurants and shops. We recommend the Scottish Flower bar for a good night out. On the negative side the hotel was all geared up for children and there was no adult entertainment in the show bar. There did seem to be a lot of school aged children which was unusual as we didn’t go in school holiday time. All in all good value holiday but would recommend more for families than couples.

Lovely bright reception area on arrival and quick check in, it was late when we arrived and no issue. Room was basic but clean and the beds were comfortable. Bathroom spotless also. Cooler in room for drinks, not a fridge so just maintains temperature. Cleaned daily after 11am, towels changed after three days but I personally would prefer daily changes. Nice size balcony with small clothes line. Only two chairs and a small round table, there was 3 of us so we could use the chair from the room but any more than 3 people staying it would be an issue. Breakfast service starts at 8, you have three start times 8, 9 and 10 and you have 40mins to eat. If you arrived at say 8.30 then you'd be asked to leave at 8.40 for the next sitting! Breakfast staff were lovely though, the lady at the front desk was a wee gem but not great English, very friendly though and always smiling! We only booked B&B so can't say what lunch and dinner is like. We went out after breakfast most days and used the pool late afternoons apart from two days when we were at the parks. The pool had plenty of deck chairs available. We played ball in the pool and were told we couldn't but the next day there were two groups that were playing ball and didn't seem to be an issue!! Another young lad had a small floating ring and was told no also. The lady lifeguard was no way friendly at all!! The service at the bar and pool area was shocking bad, slow and so unfriendly. They dragged their feet for anything they were asked for. Got tickets for portaventura, firary land and water park for half price which was great! We did portaventura and firary Park in one day as portaventura closed at 6 and firary land didn't open until 5. Portaventura was excellent but firary Park really not worth it. More of a museum than adventure! Water park very good and nice and compact. If visiting portaventura be prepared for alot of walking!!! We got fast passes so beat alot of queuing time...most rides had a wait time of 1 hour and 30 mins. Food and drink ridiculous prices but you can't bring food in so no choice but to buy in the park. Check out was grand but no big friendly thank yous from staff! Had a few hours to kill until our transfer to airport so booked two lockers for luggage €5 for a locker, convenient service. Hotel only 5min from beach strip and loads of restaurants nearby. For cleanliness and convenience I would stay again but staff training and more staff in bar and pool areas is a serious necessity to bring it up to standard.

“Not the worst but was quite boring”

This hotel is clean and modern and in the centre of Salou. Rooms are basic with a mini fridge but there is no kettle. Beds are comfortable and maids have been cleaning the room everyday. Breakfast is good and evening meal is hit and miss, not sure about drinks or lunch as we went half board.... more

This hotel is clean and modern and in the centre of Salou. Rooms are basic with a mini fridge but there is no kettle. Beds are comfortable and maids have been cleaning the room everyday. Breakfast is good and evening meal is hit and miss, not sure about drinks or lunch as we went half board. You do have to get a slot for each meal each day, you get 40 minutes for breakfast and an hour for evening meal which isn’t great if you have a big family. Also evening meal isn’t until 7:30. This hotel is advertised as family friendly however i wouldn’t agree with this statement. It’s not that good for small children, “childrens pool” looks like a jacuzzi and theres no water slides or anything like that. Theres a small play area but its not exactly great either. Childrens disco is on at 9 o’clock and its very very basic. Childrens club room is nice and colourful but the girls that run it don’t really know how to entertain children. You are not allowed big floaties in the pool as well as any sun glasses and theres no music around the pool or the hotel for the evening time. Staff are nice, especially the ones in the restaurant.
