Me and my family had the most amazing time staying here, a short walking distance to the theme park, great food options too. It was the first time my young nephews had been abroad and Villa Romana will never be forgotten from their memories. The entertainment staff were fantastic most importantly Adriana she was amazing with the kids, give her a raise! We cannot wait to return in the near future and hope Adriana will be there when we come back

“Still good but not what it used to be”

Been around 6 years since we've been to Salou, have always stayed here in the past and absolutely loved it so we were super excited to come back again. Location: The hotel is in a great location, quiet but just a few minutes walk to the centre. Also just a 10 minute walk to Portaventura. Rooms: The rooms haven't changed since we were there last, comfortable but in need of updating. I love that they have baths as many more modern hotels have removed baths and opted for showers only. Staff: The staff here are still fantastic, a few familiar faces but mainly new staff since the last time we were here, which is expected in the hospitality industry. The animation team was always a biggest pull that brought us back to this hotel every time as they go above and beyond for the guests and great with kids. Pool Area: The pool area is beautiful, large pool. lots of trees etc. There are definitely a few broken tiles that need fixing around the pool and other areas. Restaurant: This may have been the biggest let down. They used to do these great themed evenings every night, there was a section in the middle of the restaurant that focused on the different theme each night, the staff would dress up, they had additional treats at the exit door, mainly for the kids like popcorn, candyfloss, sweets. The food truck had loads of extra stuff each night that the kids loved eating. This all seems to have dissappeared, no themes, no extras, food truck closed. I would be more than happy to pay a little extra for food if this is what needs to happen to bring it back to what it used to be.

Just returned from a family holiday. I was slightly disappointed as I read a lot of great reviews online. When we checked in we were given black wrist bands which were very hard to get off which to me was a bit of a hazzard if anything was to happen and needed to come off in a hurry. Also the fact that you had to wear them around salou made u stand out as a tourist which I didn't like. When we entered our room I was very disappointed as the there was a pull out sofa bed made up and 2 single bed pushed together to make a double. The bathroom also could be doing with an update. The cleaners done a good job, except for the last day of our stay we came back from a day out to find a clump of hair from the plug hole sitting at the side of the bath. I was disgusted. The food was the same mostly everyday not a great variety for kids as mine are very fussy eaters. Also I was disappointed that you could not take fruit out with you as my kids didn't eat very much breakfast. The only positive thing I would say is the kids enjoyed the pool everyday there was always activities for them to take part in and the entertainers were very good. Also the beach was only 10 min walk away which was good.

“Disappointing Hotel”

We have just returned from a 7 night stay at Vila Romana (27/06-04/04). We have used this hotel since it was built & it's the only hotel we've ever stayed in, in Salou. After a 9yr wait due to various reasons, We finally booked up & were excited to get back to this hotel. On arrival, We were checked in by Stanic, who was very polite & friendly. He made check in very easy & we were allocated our room on the 3rd floor with a pool view. Our room was exactly hiw we remembered them. Two medium beds pushed together, a sofa/bed. Large double wardrobe with hangers & a safe( payable to use safe). Bathroom had a bath with shower above it. Full bottles of shower gel, shampoo & hand-wash above sink plus a supply of towels & a hsirdryer. The balcony had a table, 3 chairs & a clothes dryer. We booked half board for our stay as our many previous stays had always been excellent for meals, sadly its no longer the case. Breakfast consisted of cereals, pastries, omlettes, fresh fruits, continental meats/cheeses but the hot breakfast its were a huge let down for us. Very greasy bacon, sausages that literally looked uncooked, very dry scrambled eggs & most days the toast was cold & hard. The Hubby decided to try the fried eggs, he had to leave both as they were very undercooked. Evening meals were no better, repetitive with the chicken, stews & boiled cod, we opted for fries, rice & pasta most evenings. On two days we swapped evening meals for lunch & hit lucky with pork loin steaks. The desserts were very bland & the same most nights. Staff not very interactive, other than on arrival at the door. It's such a disappointment how much the meals have deteriorated, we love vila romana as a hotel but for us to return, the food needs to improve back to the old days or go back to the theme nights they used to do. Other negative for us was the outdoor disco till 1115pm & then indoor entertainment till midnight. I know people are there to enjoy themselves but full blast music every night until midnight isn't what everyone wants, this puts us off returning aswell. Salou itself is a beautiful place & we will definitely be back but its unlikely we'll return to vila romana, unless the meals & noise issue improved.
