Stayed for the week at the beginning of October 2023, Reception very friendly and helpful. Room was a decent size with a nice sized bathroom with walk in shower. Food was great, always found something different to try. Ques for the dining room can be long at certain times. Breakfast you seemed to have to wait for fried eggs to made as and when requested. Pool opened at 10am, other places I've stayed I could go for a dip from 8am. Entertainment was a bit of hit and miss. Shops, bars and clubs just around the corner. Went All inclusive, good choice of drinks at the bar, Snack bar seemed to be just fruit, popcorn and sweets, was expecting hot dogs and burgers like other hotels I stayed in the area.

Just back from our stay at medplaya calypso. We enjoyed our holiday in salou itself and tried to use the hotel facilities as much as we could but we wouldn't return to this hotel. So many areas that let the hotel down and spoiled it for us. Reception staff were friendly enough but they were always too busy to get a chance to speak to them. One of the managers never smiled he's very thorough but wasn't really a people person and very strict. If you didn't have a cup or a green card to get a drink from all inclusive. This drove us nuts !! I totally get going green but if you left a cup or it was taken away by staff you were told no you can't get another one without taking a plastic cup back up or having a bit of paper. Someone went into the the toilet and put their drink down 2 seconds later one of the managers grabbed the cup and cleared it away so that meant person didn't have the cup to take back to the bar ! So most likely had a hard time about this. We had wristbands so to me this just seemed pointless why have a wristband if you need to take cups back or have a card. Food wise this again was a let down they dont cater enough for British people. Alot of it was meats in sauces and some of it was cooked and no more!!. Salad wise and fruits were good but alot of the food was very repetitive. They really need to have a kids section our girls hardly eat a thing because there wasn't enough options there for kids. The restaurant staff were great I must admit they were always smiling away they were rushed off their feet!! . The white wine you get in the restaurant was lovely just a shame its different from what you get at the other bars. The one in the restaurant is from a tap and tastes so much more tasty, cold and fresh. Special mention to the lady in the restaurant with blonde hair wears it in a pleat but sorry can't remember her name. But she was very helpful with families !!! Again smiling away. The snack bar had chicken fingers, burgers, hot dogs etc. This was OK but alot of the times chips weren't cooked properly or it was cold. They should be using probes to check temp before serving. Rooms; We had a family room which was a great size, really big so cannot fault the space we had but cleanliness let it down. My partner had pointed out to the cleaner there was drinks spilled from previous people staying but when we came back to the room the marks were still there and very visible. They made beds every day and gave us fresh towels but the floors badly need washed. And it's obvious it's not been done. The lift is a bit dodgy it banged shut while you were in the middle of getting in and if you weren't quick it would hit you. If you've got kids can be quite scary. They really need to sort this out. I overheard a few people complaining about this. Fabian who worked in the bar was very friendly! Made us all feel welcome when we were getting served at the bar. Most of the bar staff were nice to be fair. Entertainment wise wasn't great. They tried their best but there isn't enough of them. They need to do more with the kids especially with it being a family hotel. Pool facilities were good and the arcades for the kids I wouldn't recommend all inclusive option we paid alot of money to stay and ended up eating out a few times. Drinks wise not alot of choice, there was alot of drinks that aren't included. My partner drinks spiced Rum and for whatever reason couldn't get this without paying, you can get white Rum or dark Rum but not spiced literally there is no difference in price. The whole point was to save us money. I'm also not convinced that the mixers they use are actually Pepsi max, 7up etc they tasted funny at times. The hotel has so much potential but the points mentioned have let it down big time ! 1st time staying and to be honest very unlikely we would return to the medplaya unless the points mentioned were addressed.
