We have just returned from a week at the California Palace in Salou. We have been here before and enjoyed it so much, this time the hotel was very busy with lots of groups of sport teams at the hotel. The food was a little bit disappointing as the same things were on the menu night after night. The service however was first class, and a mention to Marc, who looked after me and Jed, and nothing was too much trouble and he made our dining experience a lot better than the food. Another poor attention to detail was we had a early flight and asked for an early morning call to wake us in room 430 and it did not happen, luckily we woke up on time, we also ordered an early breakfast for 6.00 and we just got a Croissant and a coffee, which was poor other hotels do much better. On a positive note, the hotel is in an ideal position and clean and classy. Just a few points to tidy up on customer service. Regards Jed and Aly.

First holiday abroad on my own and overall it was a positive experience. Speedy check in and was really surprised that the room was modern and clean. I was on the 4th floor in room 409 and this was a room on the side so the balcony was enormous and went all round the side as well as in front of the room. On occasions the food wasn't very warm, but plenty of choice and plenty of room to sit. This is a very Spanish orientated hotel and the staff have limited English so please be aware as at times was difficult to make myself understood. All the staff I encountered were friendly and polite. The mattress was very hard and not very comfortable to be honest. One big negative I had was, although I thought the room was cleaned to a high standard, on the last night I dropped something that went under the bed, when I looked there was empty food packets, fluff etc under there. If I had found this earlier I would of complained as this is just not acceptable in my view. The pool always had plenty of sunbeds but only six umbrella's which was odd and they could do with more as not enough. Overall a good stay and I would return

Hotel clean towels too small food always cold even when 1st in restaurant some staff ok but having had my bag taken while having breakfast no staff were interested asked to speak to someone in authority but no one available girl on reception didnt understand what I was telling her reported it to the police which was also difficult I was not contacted by anyone from the hotel management at all during my staff so overall not a very good holiday

Lovely room, although no tea making facilities if that’s your thing. Shower was huge but nowhere to put your shampoo etc, so went on the floor, which I thought was strange. Fridge in the room was very cold and housekeeping were great as well. Disappointed with the food and we are not fussy eaters. Very little choice and practically the same food every night. On saying that , it was freshly cooked and hot , we never left hungry but not four star in my opinion. Loved the location in the quieter part of Salou, only a few Euros taxi to the Centre and great bus service. Staff were absolutely lovely , chatted and had a good laugh with lots of them. Young lady Natalia on reception could not have been more helpful , such a lovely person. Pool area great , very clean , lots of sun beds. Hotel spotless. The gentleman serving in the bar was fantastic, helpful and very funny. I have stayed here before and would stay again but only bed and breakfast next time.
