“Fridge a must”

We went as a late desk. We were told it was classed as 2.5 star.We arrived and we were pleasantly surprised at the outside of the hotel, and even more at the reception area. Having arrived around 11.45am wasn't expecting the room to be ready but it was. Nice size room, asked for a second pillar , no issues whatsoever. The air conditioning was a very good unit, however there wasn't a climate control. It was one setting. This is when we discovered the first problem. We switched off the unit and opened the patio little did we know but we were based opposite an all night disco. The club opened at midnight and closed at 6am . This meant we couldn't leave the door open due to the noise from the disco. The following day we went down for breakfast. Although the continental part was good we weren't impressed with the eggs. They appeared to have been cooked in oil. Wasnt very good. There was various items on the menu for dinner. You could always find something at teatime. The main thing I would suggest although it is officially classed as a 3 star now, a small fridge would be well appreciated in the bedroom.

I was very nervous about this booking after reading reviews but I was pleasantly surprised so I felt compelled to write a review to reassure others that I didn’t think it as half as bad as reviews make out but there are definite pros and cons. Location: Fab. It’s about 10 mins walk to the beach and close to bars and restaurants with some lovely ones literally around the corner. Rooms: basic but clean. Rooms were cleaned everyday. We had a pool view also overlooking the nightclub which is busy on a Friday and Saturday night but you can’t hear it with the balcony doors closed. Beds are not the most comfortable and you could do with an extra pillow. Feel like I need a deep tissue massage after a week sleeping on them. I would upgrade to a more superior room if I was to stay again. Staff: friendly and efficient. Food: not great. We stayed half board but only ate in the hotel 2 evenings. Breakfast was fine but I would definitely not choose to eat an evening meal there. Pool: very large pool area. No mad rush for sunbeds but it did get busier towards the end of our stay so I imagine there would be more demand as it hits peak season. Pool is a selling point of this hotel for me. All in all, I would class this hotel as a classic 3 star. Bit of a refurb of all rooms and better calibre of food and it would be great.

Hotel california gardens is in a great location, close to shops and beach. Arrived on 22nd June, reception staff were nice but did not give you any Information on where your room was, or dinning area (or times). We were full board, the buffet was catered to more European but always managed to find something to eat, a little more lacking at lunchtimes though. Your not allowed drinks in and have to buy them once in the dining area. Pool area is good with 2 large pools. Kept clean everyday. We were allowed a ring and a ball to play with but suddenly on the 1st July we were told no not allowed. When asked the reason why the sudden change we got told it was high season. We told them they had upset my child due to this and advised they shouldn't allow them at all if this was the case. Pool area had lifeguards but from our position at one of the pools we couldn't see them so they definitely couldn't see half of the pool either on ce this was brought up to management they staryed doing the rounds around the areas. Entertainment is basically none existent, in 11 days we saw 2 aqua aerobics which lasted around 5-10 mins. On 3 occasions we had a singer who each time sang the beatles and was awful. 1 other night we had a bubble show. So we made our own entertainment but on one night got told to stop or the police would be called, but the hotel is directly across from very noisy nightclub which can go on til 6am. Bar staff were friendly enough but slow and usually wasn't enough on to deal with amount of guests. Drinks were given out mostly in paper or plastic cups. Maids were efficient kept rooms clean and replenished daily. Key card problems alot, it would lo k you out and when taking it reception to sort they only asked room number didn't ask any other questions. Questions the security of your room if you can just give any room number and get a new card easily. WiFi is sporadic cutting out numerous times a day and then having to go to reception for another code as you get an access denied message
