“Great hotel”

The hotel is big (799 rooms!) We stayed in a 'sol' room on the 8th floor. The room was super clean, beds comfortable and plenty of towels. There is a safe in the wardrobe. A kettle, fridge and a hairdryer too. Balcony was small with two chairs and a table but great view of the beach. The restaurant… more

“Must read Sol Principe”

Arriving at the hotel which is just 10 minutes from the airport, doesn't look much from the outside, however, it's a little gem on the inside. The main feature of this hotel is the stunning pools and pool bar with music playing all day (although it's the same 7 songs on repeat). As long as the we… more

“Never again”

Hotel itself is nice. The amount of people here this time of the year is ridiculous. Mealtime in the restaurant wasn't a great experience. Very long queues to get food. Was so overcrowded, that people were left waiting to be let into restaurant.

“Disappointed”

This hotel is actually a very nice hotel, spotless clean. We went half board. We had 4 rooms booked. The food was very very disappointing. Many morning and lunch ,we were 1st in and supposably hot food was cold. Food so repetitive. As hotel is was lovely, but for this reason we won't be returning

  • Yes, guests at Sol Príncipe have highlighted that: The hotel is big (799 rooms!) We stayed in a 'sol' room on the 8th floor. The room was super clean, beds comfortable and plenty of towels. There is a safe in the wardrobe. A kettle, fridge and a hairdryer too. Balcony was small with two chairs and a table but great view of the beach. The restaurant gets very busy and of course you get those who flatly refuse to queue, so unfortunately its a case of its a bit of a free for all. Not really sure how this could be resolved really! It was sometimes tricky to find a table, my suggestion to sort this would be for the waiters to show you to your table, even if you had a short wait it would be a better system. Rather than let you in to wander around searching for a table! Also someone has to stay at the table while the others go up for food as otherwise you've lost your table! Its a bit of a shame as then you aren't exactly eating together! Waiters take drink orders at the table which was good. The food is great, something for everyone, nothing is very hot unless you catch the chef bringing out fresh dishes but it didn't bother us too much. Plenty of fish, meat, salad, veg, potatoes, they even had mash a few times which pleased my lot! There is also soup, a selection of cold meats/cheese pasta and pasta sauces etc. Desserts were 'ok' nothing to get excited about. There is an ice cream station for the kids but after the first day the Mr whippy type ice cream maker disappeared and we didn't see it again. There were tubs of ice cream and plenty of sweets/toppings/ wafers etc. The restaurant is super clean and the waiters and chefs work very hard. The hotel itself is very clean, we saw multiple cleaners all day and evenings too. Our rooms were cleaned everyday and beds made. Again the cleaners who do the rooms work hard, we left ours a tip and hope that others do too, as they deserve it! There are 5 swimming pools, absolutely freezing cold except the indoor one which gets super busy of course. Teenagers enjoyed a dip. We did venture into the outdoor pool but it took our breath away it's so cold! The restaurant by the pool became a firm favourite especially with the teenagers, lots of choice and open from 11am so if you miss breakfast that's a good option to go to eat there. Coffee machines/fizzy drinks machine is in there too. We had a facial in the beauty salon which was lovely (a tad overpriced) but it was a lovely treat. There is a games room for the children which our teenagers spent alot of time in as the weather wasn't great. The bar is good although we were surprised there was only one open, expect to queue but not for long. Cocktails are pre mixed and in a machine but actually tasted ok! You can also get bottles of water at the bar (handy to make a cuppa in room) Bar staff are super happy and work really hard. There is a gym but we didn't use it. There is a supermarket just across the road and it's well stocked if you need anything. We were all inclusive so just bought some milk for the room. Torremolinos itself is a bit dated, and there aren't many shops nearby (a few gift shops, restaurants, pharmacy and a tobacconist) we got a taxi to Playa Major which was fantastic, loads of shops/eateries. Taxi cost around 10 euros for the 4 of us. The beach is lovely although too cold to sit on it, we knew we took a gamble with the weather! We had a couple of sunny days. Would we go back to this hotel, probably not, simply because it's very big and we weren't overwhelmed with the area. The staff absolutely make this hotel, they are amazing and work so hard. Thankyou Sol Principe hotel for a good holiday!
