This was my second time visiting MS Amaragua and I was looking forward to going back! Back in 2022, they didn’t have any rules regarding sunbeds (expect for if the bed was unattended for 30 mins, towels would be removed - this was not enforced) so my husband and I enjoyed being out by the pool from early morning. This time however, we weren’t allowed access until 9am - cue the massive queues and madness to get beds as well as sharing with the hotel next door! Something I noted was the lack of friendliness with majority of staff. None of them looked happy to be there and didn’t come across as approachable. If you went with a query or issue, it felt like we were an inconvenience. Facilities brilliant - pool big and easily accessible and despite mad rush for beds near the pool, they do have a large grass area with more beds. Had pool noodles and balls to play with which was fun! Location wise - perfect. Private gate to the promenade / beach which is a great addition. Restaurants and shops close by! Room - lovely! We were on 7th floor on the opposite side of the building so not above the pool area like our last visit. It was nice and quiet, air conditioned and nice balcony area! Immaculately clean - the whole hotel was. It was fantastic. Food - all buffet style. We did B&B this year rather than half board so can’t comment on dinners. Breakfast had a large variety of things for all diets and preferences! Fresh omelette / fried egg station which was great. They have a restaurant by the pool which will bring food over to your bed which is a nice touch!

“Big and very busy...”

We spent two nights unexpectedly at MS Amaragua after our check in to one of their sister hotels had a fire so we had to delay our check in. I've given 4* based mainly on the staff but we didn't particularly enjoy our two nights here. The bedrooms are dated and in need of refurbishment. The pool area is too small for the size of the hotel and good luck getting a sunbed around the pool unless you're up and down there at the crack of dawn. Lifeguards uninterested in clamping down on sunbed reservations with nobody using. The lifts are amongst the slowest I've ever experienced and when you're on a high floor just going up or down is a real pain. There was a real lack of plug sockets in the room (I think we only had 3?). Lots of British TV channels which was a positive but not a deal-breaker for us. In-room safe was paid for which is strange in 2024. Wouldn't come back if I'm honest but staff were lovely and very helpful in arranging our move back to MS Aguamarina Suites which was significantly better and smaller/quieter

We had a lovely week at your hotel, so much so, we have booked for next year. The bedroom and bathroom was clean and comfortable. There are plenty of different choices in the dining room. You can hire pool towels for a refundable deposit and can change them at the cost of one euro. I especially enjoyed the spa. There is no kettle in the room, so if you want an early cuppa, take a travel one, or hire one. Downside is the scramble for sunbeds as the sister hotel next door can use the Amaragua facilities, which didn't bother us, but some guests were aggressive in their quest for a front row poolside bed.....shame on them!!!

The best thing about the hotel is the location right on the beach front, close to all the shops and bars and a short walk from the marina. The hotel needs to address some issues with its facilities such as the limited choice at breakfast. Not much variety of fruit, no bananas and the only hot food worth having was the omelettes and fried eggs. The pool area is nice but there are a lot of pigeons that land to drink and bath in the pool which is unhygienic. Last year people were reserving sunbeds as early as 5am but now the hotel locks the doors to the pool area until 9am so you have to join the queue & race for the beds or you wont get one until late afternoon and the beds on the beach are not free for hotel guest they are 7 euros each even though it's the hotels own section of the beach. We stayed at the end of June and the sea was quite cold and not clear and all of the beach showers were not working so we only used the beach once. Some guests still reserve sunbeds by the pool with their towels but do not use them for the whole day and the hotel does not do anything about this which is annoying. I'd suggest they should pave the grassy area to expand the terrace as the grass is untidy and has lots of bare patches which means you are on soil and grit. I'd also suggest they merge with the sister hotel Tropicana next door to make one big hotel and terrace area as their guests can use the Amaragua facilities anyway which makes it busier. The rooms are clean and comfortable but the side sea view is not really worth it so if you want a nice balcony to sit on you'll need to upgrade to a full sea view. The pool and beach bars are quite expensive for food and drinks. 4.50 euro for a not very large beer that seems even smaller if you are served it in a plastic cup to drink around the pool. It was our second visit and overall its a nice hotel but could be much better with attention to detail and a bit of refurbishment of the rooms and pool area
