First the good. Excellent location. Our junior suite had a view of the sea from our balcony that can't be beaten and was a really good size. The hotel is always clean, and all the staff are friendly and helpful. I just have a couple of issues. The hotel suffers from the usual reserving of sunbeds. There are three areas for sun beds. A small area overlooking the beach, the beach itself and a sun terrace with a small pool on the 5th/6th floor. There were signs not to reserve beds before 9am but once it was past this, they went pretty quickly. They lock the doors to the sun area and terrace to stop people reserving the beds early but people were actually queuing by the doors up to 30 minutes before they opened. We did notice some beds were reserved and then not even used till much later in the day. I expect this behaviour in a cheap Benidorm hotel, not somewhere up market like this. My wife and I can't be bothered with this selfish nonsense so ended up with beds on the beach every day. My other criticism is of the beach sunbeds. They are stacked up by the beach restaurant and In previous years a guy distributed them and helped you set them up. He wasn't there when we went this time. The beds aren't the easiest thing to set up and are old and falling apart. We once lugged one to the beach only to find it broken when when tried to set it up. The beach umbrellas are equally old and not fit for purpose anymore. We have already booked for next year so non of this has put us off, but it would be nice if some attention could be paid to these issues.

As always excellent from check in to check out Beautifully clean everywhere , nothing is too much trouble for the whole team who work relentlessly hard all the time and take great pride in their hotel . Booked for next year again as our family can be sure of a wonderful Holiday Breakfast is amazing and something for everyone if anyone could find fault I would have to say they aren’t looking at the full options available . Crepes , omelettes, 3 types of eggs , porridge , yogurt cereal and cakes and pastries as well as full continental selection ! And the usual full English , even advocado and smoked salmon and let’s not forget the Buck’s Fizz ! Is there anything else oops nearly forgot the fresh fruit . The pool is maybe the only negative as it indeed cold but the sunbed area around it is very comfy but for us a beach on your doorstep and a beautiful one at that is a far greater bonus best cleanest beach in Nerja The walk along the coast to Burriana was amazing and easy going if you take your time for older age group The youngsters spring along the route Restaurants and bars galore and Ice Cream parlours every corner But the atmosphere is what makes Nerja it is the most relaxing friendly place and spotlessly clean Love Balcon Love Nerja counting down to next year .

We had a room that looked over the courtyard and it was an ok view because we didn't plan on spending our holiday in the room anyway especially with all the beautiful scenery outside. The staff on the whole were lovely and very helpful.The room cleaners were very thorough and I feel they deserve some acknowledgement for the excellent job they do.The only drawback was the slow service in the Mirador. Felt quite ignored a couple of times even after pressing the thing on the table designed to get attention and at least 2 of the staff there were a bit 'surly' . On the whole though the majority were great. We have already booked to go back next year for the same time but upgraded our room to have a seaview and balcony. The pool area was small and not really accessable for my partner due to his mobility issues but he would of enjoyed sitting outside overlooking the ocean on the sunbathing bit where the sun loungers were but unfortunately he can't get up from a sun lounger. A couple of upright outdoor chairs there would of been nice instead - hence the room upgrade for next year. Location wise the Balcon is fantastic and it was a fantastic experience and atmosphere . Going whilst the feria was in made it even better

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Balcon de Europa this week. Amazing hotel hanging off the cliff over top of Playa el Salon with views from most of the restaurants and many of the rooms. We had a junior suite with balcony on the 3rd floor and loved it with amazing beach view and the sound of crashing surf. Room was clean and modern with great wifi. We enjoyed relaxing on the beach with plenty of chairs and bar/restaurant service close at hand. Playa el Salon is a nice little alcove without much public traffic. On the 5th floor is a infinity pool, hot tub and lounging are which also had amazing views, we only wish the pool was heated and the hot tub was actually hot. We had the breakfast package and it was excellent. Large selection of food with great service and a beautiful oceanfront setting. We struggled with the Spanish custom of restaurant kitchens closing from 4-8 as we are not late diners. Consequently we at at the hotel twice as it was the only kitchen we could find open at 5PM. We had mixed results on our orders, At El Mirador we thoroughly enjoyed the tomato and mozzarella salad but my partners Angus burger was medium rare. I ordered the fish of the day which was a medley of some kind of small fish(smelts, herring??) with some chewy octopus and one shrimp. At El Nautico the Nautico Beach Club salad was excellent but the fish and seafood paella for two was lacking any distinguishable fish and only had two prawns, 4 mussels, and a bunch of small clams the size of a nickle for 36 euro. In general we found the staff very friendly and helpful. I wanted to commend Jose at the front desk and Francisco the server at Nautico and thank them for making our stay enjoyable. Parking is a bit of an adventure here as you have to drive through the Plaza de Espana public parkade to get to the hotels private parkade. You need someone from the front desk to escort you to the proper place. Easiest thing to do is find somewhere to pull over when you are close to the entrance to Plaza de Espana parkade and call the front desk, they will send someone over to lead you in. Overall great stay at a beautiful hotel with amazing amenities right in the heart of Nerja.
