This is about another google review I submitted a year ago and was asked to give it another chance. I can't say much different . Really like the hotel , have been going for years, the rooms are good, always cleaned really well. . The reception staff are excellent, very pleasant and helpful and the entertainment is good. Again it is the restaurant that causes me bother. This year the food has gone way down, don't want chips every night and there us a lack of vegetables, but the whole problem seems to be with the staff. Would like to know why I am asked for my FULL name after I give my room number. Don't seem to hear anyone else being asked. Also if I want 2 glasses of wine I will ask for them, not be asked by the waiter. Last night I had to clear my dirty plates myself, even though the waiters were behind me.no one apologised. I have to say it is not all the staff some are excellent. I feel if I come back, which after 16 years I would like to, it would have to be bed and breakfast.

“October holiday (mostly good but sometimes let down by lack of staff)”

Have just returned from 3 enjoyable weeks ar the Yaramar. We had mostly hot sunny weather so the aircon was much appreciated. Our room was kept very clean and was a pleasure to come back to. We were B & B half of the holiday and half board for the rest. We found the food quite good, we enjoyed the soups and salads and always found something to enjoy, although the 'hot' food was invariably just warm and sometimes cold, which was disappointing. We like the previous reviewer were in the restaurant the night a very large, noisy party were in, resulting in the hotel guests having to queue to get in and once in found it near impossible to order wine as the staff were rushed off their feet. It was not an enjoyable dining experience and tempers were fraying with some guests. The restaurant seems to suffer from not enough staff, one night the matre d, and the assistant mate d were missing, resulting in guests walking in having to try to find a table, which again due to not enough staff were not laid up and we couldn't get to order wine. Restaurant staff (with one exception) very good, friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the entertainment in the patio bar, but again, they were under staffed, people were waiting a long time for a drink. The patio staff are excellent hardworking people, but there needs to be more of them. Happy Hour being 8 -9 was not ideal as we tend to be in the restaurant about then, 9 -10 would be a much better time, so guests can enjoy the Happy Hour and the entertainment. Although we understand it has now been moved to a worse time of 7 - 8 ! We look forward to returning to the Yaramar in the future and meeting up with the many friends we have met there. Lastly, staff on reception excellent as always.

“Disappointing stay”

We visited the Yaramar in October 2018 and enjoyed it so much we decided to return for a much needed break. What a disappointment, warm/cold food, surly staff and room in need of deep clean. Bathroom floor and shower full of hairs which we had to clean up. The older lady on reception was very rude when we had a problem with our safe. We also had to ask for milk so we could make a drink on the first evening as there wasn't any in our room. Reception sent us up to the restaurant who then sent us down to the bar in the entertainment room where the waitress reluctantly gave us half a glass and said " Tonight this is free but next time you have to pay"! We were taken back by her rude attitude. All in all a disappointing stay at the Yaramar. I think some of the staff need to be advised on how to treat guests as without us they wouldn't have a job.

“A Good Stay Apart from the Restaurant Evening Meal Chaos”

We were here in July and loved the place with the seaview and good food. So check in was fine with our cases being delivered to the room as it would not be ready until early afternoon, which was fine. The room although tired, was clean, comfortable and leaking toilet aside was serviceable. (although reported immediately it was ever fixed) The first night we were there there we got seated for the entertainment and waited 30 minutes for the mandatory waiter service to get to us with our "happy hour drinks". Then she gave our change to another couple. I've seen heavier drinking in a temperance bar, the service was so slow. But the "piece de resistance" was the restaurant experience which became increasingly dreadful. The first night we had our table stripped after our first course, with our full bottle and glasses removed along with the unused cutlery and so we stood with our main meal in our hands while the table and drinks were reinstated. The drink orders were always slow but then we had one not actually arrive and so I had to chase down the waiter ("you want another drink?" "No, I haven't received the first one yet."). The evening meal experience got worse as the week progressed when after two nights, huge queues formed at the entrance. The analogy of a sinking ship sprung to mind as we observed empty tables not being replenished due to no staff. (New starters we saw being inducted disappeared in short order). The worst night was our last one on Wednesday 23rd of October when a significant part of the restaurant was cordoned off for what appeared to be a private party of at least 50 souls and these were duly waved in past those of us in the queue. They, at least, got decent service, apparently, as they broke into song shortly thereafter. This however was to the significant detriment of the rest of us who were left with virtually no serving staff. On this occasion, being our last night, my good lady and I were eventually seated and gave up on the hope of a drink due to our obvious invisibility (the guy who had forgotten our order the night before wouldn't see us) and so we had eaten our first course and had left to get our main course when the Maitre D' skidded up and belatedly asked me what I wanted to drink. In the absence of my wife (who had gone to forage) and the sure knowledge that the chances of any drinks arriving in time to actually consume with our meal was slim to non existent, I politely told her no thank you. To be fair, the kitchen staff never faltered and kept buffets adequately filled all the time we were there. Good on them. But shame, shame on those who let the side down by the inept and inadequate operations in the restaurant. And so, after a great week in July and having to endure shocking service in the evening restaurant, presumably to staff jumping ship before the temporary closure in January, I think they said?, we won't be coming back again. I would expect the pandemonium to persist until the closure and probably for a while after they reopen. I hope this serves as the heads up to anyone staying between now and then.
