“Pretty enjoyable really! ”

We arrived, four adults for an eight day stay on the 22nd June and enjoyed the hotel. We, (a couple) stayed here in 2017 and chose to return with friends. First impressions, the hotel smells very clean on arrival. Reception staff very friendly and we were checked into our two rooms, 1206 and 1131. Rooms very clean, tidy and for a three star, even had a fridge and aircon. There were all the main UK channels available on tv. Showers were decent, cleaners were efficient and there is kids clubs and family entertainment shows each night. There are two big pools, one with kids area. No mad rush for sunbeds although you still had to be reasonably early to get some with parasols. The food in the hotel was surprisingly good, better than you might expect for the rating and we were on half board. You can switch an evening meal for lunch if you want a night out in a restaurant or if away on a trip if you let them know in advance, they are happy to accomodate. Drink prices weren't too bad either if you're not on all-inclusive. The hotel is massive and it might take a little while to find out where things are and to get your bearings. The location of the hotel is up a very steep hill but it's halfway between going down to the beach and road side for a choice of bars and restaurants, and up to Bonanza/Ibensa square for a further choice of bars and restaurants. The surrounding areas could really do with a refresh as some parts are looking really tired and in need of attention, however there is some refurbishing going on with other hotels down by the main road and beach walkway so hopefully the surrounding areas are on the list also. In terms of distance, you are a 15 minute stroll down to the marina, five minutes from the beach and there are good bus links for visiting areas such as Mijas (beautiful), Torremolinos, Malaga and Fuengirola. There's also the train link up in Arroyo de la Miel (Benalmadena station, a 20 minute walk uphill from the hotel) running from Malaga down to Fuengirola with stops at the airport, Torremolinos and Plaza Mayor shopping and designer centre inbetween. Overall, the Medplaya Bali was an acceptable choice of hotel which (apart from the hills) suited us pretty well at a decent price considering others nowadays. I would recommend for families, couples, friend groups and older as long as you don't mind the surrounding hilly streets.

I will not come back to this hotel.The swimming pools are dirty, no one cleans them-shocking ! The front swimming pool is absolutely shocking, so many people so much noise, ANYONE FROM OUTSIDE can enter the hotel and go to the swimming pool, which is unacceptable to me and I’ve never seen this anywhere!!! This pool looked like Shrek's pool. The back pool was a bit more quiet but still dirty. I had an allergy on my body for the first time after swimming in the pool!! Breakfast was very nice but the restaurant is crazy busy, dinners were ok too (nothing special), plenty food, salads were terrible, I love all types of salads - I didn’t even like one in 10 days !! Rice and potatoes should be there every day, I’ve seen them only once :( The elevators cannot cope with the number of guests, the doors close 5 times, they are tiny, one of them was out of order. Animations only in Spanish and very poor. Room nice and clean, view from the balcony very nice, all staff working in the hotel were really nice and polite, very helpful and smiling. Red bracelet- all inclusive during dinner or lunch- very good value for money. The hotel is on a very hilly side but it was bearable.

We arrived as a family of 4. Hotel looked lovely on arrival, room lovely, cleaned everyday, lovely view. My children loved the day entertainment. Food was ok, we only ate there a hand full of times and that was enough. The main issue we had was the pool area. It was generally dirty, rubbish everywhere, mouldy, sticky. It just needed a good jet wash. The children were slipping and you can absolutely see why. We spoke to reception about this and also emailed the hotel but nothing got done. Wouldn’t go back to the hotel, I get it’s only a 3 star but you expect it to be clean.

We originally booked this as a superior room but then received an email to say room description had changed to adouble room ,were assured it was the same room only name had changed so decided to stick with it,there is no way this was a superior room Ever,it was very small,so much so that everytime you walked to the balcony you hit your head off the tv which is on wall at bottom of bed,view from balcony was beautiful as long as you stood up as the front of it was a brick wall,room was cleaned every day with beds and towels changed,but bathroom could have done with a deep clean as sink and shower door weren't the cleanest. Food was OK but a bit mismatched ,luckily i love salad so always managed to find something Hotel is on a steep hill nicknamed cardiac hill and it was certainly that although we still managed it multiple times a day. I think if you are a family all inclusive it would be great but nothing decent entertainment wise for adults
