We have recently returned from the Melia hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Unfortunately weather had been a little mixed so having a lovely big and comfortable room to chill in was good. We had a superior side sea view which was kept immaculate and had good sized balcony. The public areas are spacious and we found food really tasty and plentiful. We had half board which suited us as not many restaurants open in area as near end of season. Yes you do have to pay for water with evening meal but we had a beer and large wine which was approx 6 euros so I think quite reasonable. We also enjoyed the entertainment each evening and drinks a little cheaper than would be in the uk. We enjoy walking and bird watching so Melia ideally situated for us as we could access marshes in about 15 mins without car. We would recommend to anyone wanting a more relaxing holiday but with the opportunity to visit local areas quite easily but if you’re a big party goer and shopaholic then maybe not for you.

Just returned from a wonderful 7 night break at melia Isla canela. What a beautiful hotel. Stunning foyer, so elegant & luxurious. The most incredible scent lingers in the air in foyer and in lifts also. We were greeted with a glass of bubbly & private check in as level guests. Thank you to Mura, who was so welcoming & informative. We loved everything about the hotel. Authentic Spain at its best for sure. Located on the shore of golden sandy beach. Lovely promenade stretching approx 7km. We had the most incredible view of the harbour & ocean from our balcony, with sunrise each morning. Lovely to watch the fishing boats returning, as the evening wound down. Having access to the level lounge really added to the enjoyment of our holiday. Delicious tapas each evening with cocktail hour . Very sociable too, lovely mingling with fellow guests. The beds were the most comfortable ever, with quality bed linen, choice of pillows & ritual products & rain shower in bathroom. Great entertainment nightly . Special shout out to zest bar waiters joining in the fun onstage & getting us all dancing. Enjoyed breakfast daily in Costa nostra dining room. Amazing room . Again with incredible ocean/harbour views. Only niggle on the holiday is the evening dining room. Far too busy every evening. While the selection was always varied, fresh & delicious. The show cooking station with fresh fish & roast of the day also was delicious daily. However, it would be lovely to have the option of evening dining in a less crowded more elegant space. Overall a stunning hotel in stunning location. Thank you Melia hotel & staff we can't wait to return soon.

“Warm and quiet hotel in you want to disconnect from stress of the city. You can relax yourself in a quiet environment .”

Warm hotel, so many spots in it to enjoying depending your mood for. Level Bar is Amazing to share a nice moment whit friends. Pools out and indoor. Staff so friendly and helpful. You have the beach just next to the hotel So pleased with the visit.

The stay was at The Level, having had good experiences at other Melia Level properties. The 'Level Welcome Desk' was a little underwhelming with no welcome drink offered and the welcome very minimalist. Room was good but balcony was tiny and the bathroom functional and compact, disappointing by other Level properties standards. Room had Nespresso plus Tea & Coffee facilities, Air Con was Ok but not great. I would say the rooms are a little tired, certainly dated. Corridors to the rooms are certainly 'well worn'. This visit coincided with the early Spanish School holidays, and the hotel was incredibly busy with families. The Level here now allows anyone over 18 to utilise the dedicated pool area, and I would say it was questionable whether many of the 'younger guests' were 18+. And when Kids Clubs ended, there was a daily rush of young children (often accompanied by what appeared to be Kids Club staff) appearing in the over 18's area and no effort at all by staff to enforce the 18+ policy. This was a major bugbear for me and a number of other guests I spoke to. Within the Level Lounge, children are welcomed, and this can see the area over-run and kids spread out with puzzles and colouring books on the tables, and Phones and Tablets blaring out - social etiquette and headphones seem consigned to history (children & adults alike). The Level afternoon buffet was very good and varied daily - but again was simply over run the moment it opened and people piling plates high. And kids often seen sleeping on the sofas in the TV room, meaning others could not sit to watch the TV. The 'wristband' system seemed a little confusing also, who was to know who was legitimately using the Level Lounge - I was on a. Tariff that dod not include a wristband, and others had a band signifying their entitlement - but I did see a number of people 'tailgating' into the Lounge and there were no checks as to peoples entitlement. I have previously enjoyed other Level Properties & Facilities for their strictly over 18's policy - the difference here has put me off returning and being very careful about booking other Level packages in the future. The sun loungers around the pool were also not received for Level Guests, and the area that was exclusive to The Level did not have cushions. Breakfast was an absolute delight - tremendous service, great choice and exclusive to Level Guests. Getting in early seemed to avoid the family groups. I did not use the restaurants for other meals so cannot comment, but the Ice Cream parlour served tremendous creations! Checkout was oK, but I was directed to the wrong taxi for the airport transfer, who tried to charge me a full rate rather than the hotel discount - some heated discussions and a telephone call to the office eventually resolved this. Location wise, as others have noted, it's a quiet spot, and in-season there are some external dining choices and local supermarkets, but it's not a 'lively' location by any measure. Evening entertainment was a bit hit & miss, catering more to the 'family holiday' than my taste. Spa treatment was excellent. Staff generally very nice & helpful, but I did sense more enthusiasm for their dealings with the local population. A good break, but I would not return.
