Just returned from a week long golfing break with 12 golfers at El Rompido. We booked the semi all inclusive which includes a free drinks package after 1700. The hotel was excellent, shared rooms were spacious and comfortable. Breakfast and Evening Buffets were varied and delicious. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Our Ryan Air flight was delayed so we didn’t arrive till 0100; the hotel provided a packed meal which we thought was a nice touch. Most of the guests seemed to be from UK or Eire, and retired. Hotel facilities included lovely outdoor pools and a nice spa, all included in the deal. Both golf courses were in great shape, albeit very challenging. At no stage did any of our golfers get 30 or more SB points. But we all enjoyed the challenge. On our day off free transport was provided to the local town and a free ticket in the boat to an island beach. Definitely worth an hours visit followed by Tapas at the Dona Gamba restaurant overlooking the pier. We all loved it and will return. Many thanks.

16 of us Just returned from a week at the resort for a golf holiday.. overall we were very impressed with everything. Rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable with a fridge which was useful could have been better with tea/coffee making facilities rather than having o go to the restaurant every morning to get a drink Some staff were very friendly and helpful whilst some at the bars were a bit unhelpful and not happy at all Pool and areas around the pool were amazing and very tidy, plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas Golf courses had recently been treated so the greens were awful but that’s down to timing I guess but overall they were fantastic condition and a real challenge. Drinks are expensive in comparison €7.00 for a pint of local cheap lager €3.50 in local restaurant and bar Very limited on drinks with NO cider or Ales, I think this is very poor as some of the guys struggled to find something to drink The local town ‘el rompido’i s very very limited on bars and restaurants and any form of nightlife so not much going on there for anyone searching for any form of entertainment Overall great resort but due to limited drinks available and price of them, I wouldn’t return

My second visit and has not changed from two years ago. My first recommendation is to get yourselves some insect repellent and anthisan spray or cream. I don’t know if it’s just this time of year that mosquitos are out for blood, but quite a few people did suffer from the bites. But none of this is down to the hotel. We had superior rooms each and they are very good. The aircon hadn’t been switch on by the hotel yet. The mini bar stated on the web site is in fact an empty fridge as it was two years ago. No coffee or tea making facilities, but you can get a kettle from reception to use throughout your stay. There is a shop within the grounds about a five-minute walk at most from the front door which sells most holiday requirements. The rooms a cleaned daily so all good. Restaurant is a typical buffet style. I wasn’t overly impressed, but that’s my own opinion. But the golf bar restaurant which is not part of the inclusive package do some good cooked to order food. The inclusive package starts at 5.00 PM. Beer orders get reduced to half pints and you are unable to reorder until it’s a nearly empty glass. You will not be able to order a drink for someone who is not at the table. Plus, also note that the selection of drinks in the inclusive package is not the same quality as it was when paying. Had no issues with the staff unlike some reviews. Overall, this hotel would not be classed a five-star hotel in the UK. But it suited our golfing group requirements. Two golf courses and I would recommend golf carts, especially as the temperatures start to get hotter. The courses (north & south) themselves are in excellent condition. I did seem strange not playing in wet conditions as we have been in the UK for the last five months. Last point to note for a member of my group. ‘Keep your hat on’ next time the Full Monty gets played.

Generally a very good golf resort, but they do need to sort a few things out. The staff were all good, some were excellent. We stayed on the semi all inclusive basis which includes beer etc after 5.00pm - no problem with that, but why do they insist on serving beer in tiny glasses which necessitates them serving you 3 times more often than necessary? The same bars serve in full size glasses when paying! The golf courses are both good and quite different from each other - buggies were great and the lockers for clubs etc excellent value at €7 for the week. The pace of play however was shocking! The rooms were as expected with the exception of no tea/coffee facilities. The food was only ok and bizarrely laid out, but best to avoid here if you’re vegetarian - there was usually only plain pasta, sometimes a sauce, sometimes not - totally unacceptable. The restaurant doesn’t open until 7.30pm which means virtually everyone is trying to eat at the same time resulting in lengthy queues and a very crowded atmosphere.
