In my experience, Parador hotels are never a let down, and the Parador de Cádiz is no exception! Set on the seafront, in a stunning contemporary style and with breathtaking views over Cádiz and the sea, this fabulous hotel is definitely on the list to revisit. Our room was situated on one of the top floors, with a huge glass fronted balcony. As you enter the room, you are blown away by the floor to ceiling windows and the view beyond. With the bed facing the balcony, you are treated to gorgeous sunsets and sunrises, so much so, it seems a shame to lower the electronic black out blinds! The shower and bath are separated by frosted glass, with a HUGE stone bathtub and mood lighting which can be altered to suit. I didn’t use the rooftop pool, but our friends did, and said it was excellent. We requested parking, which is chargeable, secure and easily accessed, beneath the hotel. The cathedral is within walking distance and we would definitely recommend the walk up the bell tower for more impressive views.

This Parador was a bit of a surprise. This is the first “modern” parador we have stayed in – being more used to rooms of odd shapes with older furniture all fitting into large ancient structures. This is relatively modern with very straight lines and edges. It is easy to find as it is at the very end of Old Cadiz overlooking the sea. It has a huge underground car park which is always a bonus even at a higher cost. Check in was straightforward and polite. We saw a troubled guest being dealt with politely and with much explanation (the guest was incorrect). Our room had a large balcony with Pool and Sea views. A very large comfortable bed. A light system to confuse then delight (colour options if you want a bath. The bath appears hugely unnecessary. Standard Parador toiletries just to remind you where you are. Great shower – very powerful. Breakfast was excellent with a hot selection provided (chef in attendance to supply variations). There is a large sea front bar (sunset time is its busiest I think) which does simple food choices including burgers. The restaurant has a fairly standard Parador selection with regional variations. The food is good with excellent service. Nice wine list. The hotel does seem to have massive circulation spaces which seem a substantial waste. The old town is an easy walk. The hotel has its own stop on the hop on hop off bus which is quite handy. The local buses look very regular also. If travelling this way again I would not hesitate to stay again.

The Parador is in a great location close to the centre of Cadiz and the seafront. Parking is plentiful, secure and beneath the hotel however it is expensive at 19 euros per night. The hotel is very modern in structure. Our room on the 3rd had a balcony overlooking the swimming pool and spa which was a great space. For me, the modern room looked great but was not spacious or comfortable. Breakfast was included in our rate and was very well organised with pleasant staff. We ate in the main restaurant one evening and enjoyed our meal. All staff were professional, friendly and helpful.

After a very easy process checking in and parking the car in the underground car park we were glad to go to our room. The room was large and bright with a lovely view overlooking the pool and then out to sea. The room had a large balcony with comfortable furniture. There were no coffee making facilities which was a disappointment as other paradores do have this. The bed itself was comfortable and placed so that it takes in the lovely views. Unfortunately there are no headboards as such just a rather uncomfortable shelf. The bath was huge but a waste of space given the amount of water it would take to fill it would be wasteful. The usual amenities but a shelf to pop your personal items on would help. Take your own hair dryer as the one provided was pretty useless. Room though was very clean. Staff pleasant. Breakfast pretty good but pastries should be covered up as birds were hopping all over them hence why I didn’t try these. Bird droppings not being my favourite I opted for the hot options that were cooked pretty much on demand. Overall a nice stay and the location is great. Not the best of Paradores as a little clinical but ideal for a 2 or 3 night stay.
